It was safe to say say my heart stopped.

I climbed out of Christian's bed, my heart beating a thousand miles a minute. The shouting downstairs continued, and all I could think was -

Please, no.

Realistically, I knew what was happening. I had know she was pregnant from the moment she glared at me from across the room at the gala. I could tell from the slight puffiness of her face to the rounded slope of her belly that she was pregnant. But, I ignored it. I don't know why I ignored, or why she didn't chase me off by letting me know she was pregnant.

The fact was I didn't want to be that woman. I couldn't be that woman. The one who broke up a family, not again. So I made an executive decision.

I left.

I hurriedly put my clothes on, disgusted at the memories the actions brought back during my college years, and if I were quite honest, since I started having sex. The smell of sex lingered in the air and I glanced back, looking at the mused sheets, the strewn clothes and Christians belongings laying on his armchair. This time, however, was different from all the previous times.

This time it hurt to leave.

Once I felt I was decent enough to leave Christians house, I headed downstairs. I couldn't find my bra, and I could feel my nipples pebbled through my thin dress. I wasn't a woman who avoided confrontation. Never was, but at this very moment there was nothing I longed for more than to avoid Christian and Ashlyn downstairs, arguing about whether she carried his child.
