At Alexandria. At Tara's porch. 

Tara walked out to us surprised "Hey.You just get back?"

Daryl nodded "Yeah. I was looking for you."

Tara nodded "I was looking for you, too.I wanted to tell you that you were right when you didn't kill Dwight. We wouldn't have gotten this far without him. The thing is, I know what you said. But after this,I'm gonna kill him.I want it to be me."

Daryl "Maybe it could be you and me both. And maybe we don't got to wait so long."

Daryl rammed with the garbage truck another truck. 

then we got out of it. 

Daryl and Tara shot the driver and we walked over to Rosita and Michonne. 

Me " Truck full of speakers, huh?That was a Savior."

Michone nodded " Yeah, it was.They were scavenging when you guys attacked the Sanctuary. They saw all the walkers around it. It's a cache. They were gonna try and drive the walkers away. That's why they were out here."

Me "what the hell are you guys doing out here?"

Michonne "I need to see the Sanctuary. "

Rosita "We both do. Why are you out here?"

Daryl "We got a lot more work to do. All of us."

At the Sanctuary. 

Daryl turned the engine off. 

We were far enough away to not get the attention of the walkers that were trying to get into the building. 

Daryl " Here you go. You wanted to see it."

Rosita "So what do you need us for?"

Daryl "To end this thing -- right now"

We got out of the truck.

Rosita "Our people are gonna be at the Sanctuary soon, asking for their surrender. We're almost there."

Daryl "That's why we do it. We make it happen."

Michonne "So we cover you with crossfire from the upper windows, you crash the truck into the walkers and through to the building."

Tara nodded "Yep, crack it open, Savior buffet."

Rosita "You know the workers will make it away, up the stairs?"

Daryl "They're on the other side of the building. They should make it."

Rosita "You sure?"

Daryl "After we do this, their only choice is to give up."

Michonne "It's risky.They could see the truck comin'."

Tara "There weren't any more weapons at the Saviors' warehouse, right?

No more rockets for the RPGs. We work with what we got."

Suddenly Morgan walked to us "You got me. Other snipers, too. Saviors see you comin', we got you covered, whatever it takes. I want it done. I want them done."

I nodded "good"

Daryl "So, we doin' this or what?"

Rosita "W-Why don't we just wait it out like we planned? Michonne's right. What you're talking about is risky. Things could go bad."

Tara "The truck with the speakers almost took all those walkers away. It almost did go bad. Something else could."

Daryl "Even if it don't, we don't got the Kingdom fighters no more. I mean, if the Saviors want to put up a fight, we don't got the numbers to make 'em surrender."

Rosita "That's why Rick's talking to the Scavengers."

Tara "You got shot. They lied to us. You -- You believe 'em now?"

Rosita "I believe in Rick Grimes."

Tara "I could've done something...sooner, to end this. I knew about those weapons at Oceanside, and I waited. I didn't do shit about it. With or without you, I'm not letting that happen again."

Rosita "Then it's without me. I'm out."

Morgan "We got some cars parked near the east-side lookout. You can take one and go home."

Rosita asked Michonne "You staying? You good with all this?"

Michonne "I helped get this started. Got to see it through."

Rosita "You think it's easier to come out here and risk than to stay back there and wait. And I get it -- I used to believe that, too. Thing is sometimes, you just have to wait. Sometimes you don't get to know. I just wish it didn't take seeing Sasha walk out of that coffin to realize it."

Then she walked away. 

Michonne and i looked at each other. 

Daryl "Come on. Let's go."

We got back into the truck.

Morgan "Hey, cut that engine.Any closer, you'll draw walkers from the yard.You take fire from the windows, we fire back."

Tara "Come on. There's a spot for cover by the chutes."

Then she got out. 

Michonne had decided to go with Rosita. 

Daryl looked at me "You up for this?"

Me "What we are about to do...it's risky, D. and i don't think it's worth risking us"

Daryl "It is for me. Just us. do you trust me?"

Me "on what? Daryl, you and i both know that you don't know for if that's gonna work"

Daryl "Kendall, i'm asking you to have my back"

I nodded "I've had your back since day one, Daryl"

Daryl asked irritated "then what's the problem?"

Me "i don't want to die"

Daryl shook his head "I won't let you die. I promise"

Tara walked to the window "We got Morgan and the snipers. We can do this."

Daryl looked at me. 

I nodded "Yeah. We will."

Tara "I'm here. I'm ready."

Daryl said into the radio "now"

Then he drove towards the front gate. 

Daryl "Jump!"

We jumped out of the truck while it drove to the front gate and crashed against it. 

The walkers were focused on that. 

Daryl and i moved behind another truck.

Morgan "Daryl, you're clear to the south. You, Kendall and Tara should head home."

At Alexandria. 

I walked out of my house and saw Daryl sitting on the porch.

Me "hey"

Daryl nodded " we'll finish it, just like we planned."

I nodded "i'm gonna stay here"

He looked at me confused. 

I sat down next to him "Rosita and Michonne aren't fully healed yet. They need me here"

He nodded "okay"

Me "Daryl?"

He looked at me "yeah?"

Me "you know i trust you with my life, right?"

He nodded "Yeah. I'm gonna go check on, Tara"

I nodded. 

He gave a kiss before leaving. 

Night. 

I walked over to Carl "Bro, Michonne's looking for you. They're about ready to head out."

He nodded. 

I asked confused "What are you doing?"

Carl "I'm helping someone. A traveler."

Me "In the sewer?"

Suddenly we heard a metallic clanging. someone was at the wall. 

Negan "You may be wondering why the hell your lookout didn't sound the alarm.See, we are polite. I mean, I don't know when they're gonna wake up from that kinda shot, but they should wake up. So let's just cut through the cow shit -- you lose. It's over. So you're gonna line up in front of your little houses,and you're gonna work up some apologies, and then the person with the lamest one is gonna get killed. Then I kill Rick in front of everybody,and we move on. You have three -- count 'em, three minutes to open this gate, or we start bombing the shit out of you! "

My jaw dropped "They got out."

Carl grabby my hand "come on, Ken"

Carl " You need to make it look like we're escaping out back. Get to the woods, halfway to the quarry, and cut the lights. Get enough of a lead on them, hit them, and get away on foot. You know where we'll be. Just have to get the guns, get everyone else here, and we'll meet you there.

Negan yelled "Two minutes, people! Dig deep.I want these apologies to be memorable. Bonus points for creativity. Work up a poem, sing a song. I love that shit."

Carl "There's gonna people in the infirmary. They're gonna need your help."

Tobin rushed away. 

Tara "Look, we got guns. We can fight them."

Rosita "We will, but not now. Carl's right."

Michonne shook her head "Carl, we can't just let them have this place."

Carl nodded "We can. All you need to do is survive tonight. This is my show. You said it.This is my plan, and you're gonna do it. You're all gonna do it. So let's go!"

 I raised an eyebrow. 

Negan yelled "One minute! One minute!"

Negan " Okeydokey. Brought this on yourself, Rick. See, I was willing to work with you. All you had to do was follow a few very simple rules. Now -- Well, now I see that you got to go. Scorched earth, you dick!"

I climbed on the platform " He's not home."

Negan "Oh-ho-holy shit! Everybody hold your fire. It's my wife. I am so proud, baby. Daddy's not home, huh? Well, I guess he's gonna get back to a big old smoky surprise."

Me "There's families in here. Kids. My little brother and my little sister."

Negan "Well, that shit just breaks my heart. There's kids at the Sanctuary. You must've seen 'em.Even had a little baby at one of the outposts.I wonder what happened to her. None of this shit's fair, baby. Hell, you know that. Your little brother had to kill your mom. That is screwed up. Ergo, we need someone in charge who's willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that shit doesn't happen. Oh. Wait. That's me."

Me "Bad stuff does happen, but we can figure this out. We can stop this."

Negan "Oh, now you want to talk? See, your dad had it that I died,no matter what.He gave my people a choice. Not me. Now we're gonna needa new understanding. Apologies, punish--"

Carl showed up next to me "Kill me."

My jaw dropped "what? no!"

Negan froze "What did you say?"

Carl " If you have to kill someone, if there has to be punishment, then kill me. I'm serious."

Negan "You wanna die?"

Carl shook his head "No, I don't. But I will. It's gonna happen. And i-- if me dying could stop this, if it can make things different -- for us, for you, for all those other kids -- it'd be worth it. I mean, was this the plan? Was it supposed to be this way? Is this who you wanted to be?"

We heard tired screeching. 

Negan "Son of a bitch, Carl! Was that just a play?! I thought we were havin' a moment, you little asshole! Bombs away!"

They started to throw bombs over the wall. 

Carl and rushed down the ladder.

Me "Carl?"

Carl took some smoke grenades out of his back and turned them on.

Me "come on"

Suddenly the car in front of us blew up. 

I groaned and stood up "Champ?"

Then i grabbed him and walked with him behind another car. Suddenly i heard a loud noise. 

They must've crashed through the front gate. 

Suddenly i heard Negan yelled "Well, shit. We could have used those.Solar panels? That convoy, they got away, huh? All of 'em? Kid's and my wife still gotta be here. I think they wanted to go down with the ship.Search the place. Find them, tie them up. Don't kill him. Blow up every other house. I'm gonna go to Rick's, make a little spaghetti. When he shows up, send him my way"

Carl and i climbed down to the sewers. 

most of our people were here. 

Daryl, Tara and Rosita. 

I saw Dad and Michonne walk to us. 

Dad nodded at me. 

I looked at Carl. 

Carl "I brought him here. That's how it happened"

He lifted his shirt up and there was a bite on his side. 

My jaw dropped.

Michonne fell to her knees, shocked. 

I shook my head, in tears "no, no, no, no"

Carl grabbed my hand and i started to cry.
