《Love In Hell (D.D.)》1.22 Prison

A few months later.
So it's been a few months since the farm. Mom's already having a big belly. Won't take long till the baby comes. Dad's barely is barely talking at her let alone looking at her. It's hot as hell and we are still on the streets looking for a safe place. But nothing. We are traveling from house to house, from place to place but these fucking walkers are everywhere. I mean we have better things to do than killing them.
Right now we are standing in front of the next house. I took my knives out. Dad stormed in and shot the first walker. T-Dog stabbed the second walker in the head.
Let me tell you guys, they keep getting uglier.
I walked inside. The guys, Carl and i began to check the rooms. Making things clear.
Then I walked into the washroom. There was another door at the end of the room. I took a deep breath and walked to the door
I opened the door and suddenly there was someone pointing an arrow at my head.
I breathed out when I saw Daryl.
He smirked and shot me a wink "gotta be quicker than that, princess"
I smirked and rolled my eyes "shut up"
Then he walked upstairs. I walked to the front door and whistled. Signaling the others that it was clear. I heard the guys and Maggie coming down the stairs.
Daryl was plucking an owl.
I rolled my eyes.
The others walked inside.
Everyone was sitting in the living room. Glenn sat down next to Maggie and i smiled. I leaned against the door frame. Carl walked in with two cans of Dogfood. He sat down and tried to open them. I noticed that some of us were watching Carl. I bet neither of them never expected to eat Dogfood. Dad took the can outta Carl's hand and threw it into the fireplace.
Everyone stopped and looked at Dad.
T-Dog whistled and grabbed his stuff. I sighed and took my knives and my bag from Mom but she grabbed it back and gave me that look.

Me "Mom-"
Mom gave a soft smile "Ken, it's fine"
I gave in and nodded. We began to walk out. Daryl and i were on the front. Walkers came closer and closer.
I put my blades away and got behind Daryl on the bike. We were driving on the front. The other cars were following us.
----------
After a while we stopped on the middle of the road. Everyone got out of their cars. I yawned and walked to Carl, helping him to watch out. The others were planning were to head next.
I put my arms around Carl's shoulders and hugged him from behind.
Carl chuckled "For what is that?"
Me "just missing spending time with you"
Carl turned around and gave me a quick hug. Then he turned back on watch.
I looked around.
Carl "Why didn't you apologize"
My head snapped in his direction "For what?"
Carl smirked „Not believing my theory"
I scoffed "Not gonna happen"
Carl "I saw you, you know, how he treated you like shit"
I asked confused "who?"
Carl "Jason"
I froze but then shook my head "He's dead now. I'm happy about it"
Carl looked at me confused " You loved him. How can you say that like it was nothing?"
I snapped "Because you have no idea what i've been through because of him. What he made me do."
Carl fired back "You could've told dad but no, you rather let him treat you like nothing instead of opening your mouth"
I looked around, looking if someone heard this. I tried to hold myself together
. Don't know whether to cry or to jump on his throat.
I sighed and shook my head obviously disappointed in my brother.
I growled "Don't dare talking about something you don't have the whole fucking picture of, got me?"
Then I walked into the woods and saw Railway tracks. I followed them. There was a little see. On the other side of it there was a prison. Full of walkers.

I heard footsteps and turned around.
There was Daryl pointing with his crossbow at me.
I raised an eyebrow "what the hell is it with you pointing that thing at me, Dixon?"
Dad looked confused at me "You alright?"
Daryl took the crossbow down.
Me "Look what i found"
I nodded at the prison.
Daryl "it's a shame"
I looked at dad. He had an idea.
--------
We were all standing in front of the prison fence.
Dad was cutting the fence a bit open "Watch the backsite"
I took my knives out and killed the walkers who were outside of the fence. Glenn, Maggie, T-Dog, Daryl and i were on watch.
Daryl climbed through the fence hole first. Then the others. I was the last one.
Glenn and Daryl tied the fence shut again.
We were standing now in front of the fence of the yard.
Looks like we grabbed the attention of the walkers. We began to rush through the two fences to the spot were we would be closer to the front gate of the prison. There was a truck in front of it but the gate can be opened easily.
Dad "That's perfect. If we can shut that gate, we can stop more from getting in the yard. We can take out these walkers we can take the field by night. "
Hershel "so how do we shut the gate?"
Glenn and i "I'll do it"
We looked at each other and then back to dad.
Maggie to Glenn "no, it's a suicide run"
Glenn "i'm the fastest"
I scoffed "you think"
Daryl raised an eyebrow at me.
Dad shook his head at Glenn "no, you, Maggie and Beth lock as many as you can from over there"
Then he pointed at the spot "Kill them through the fence"
Dad looked at Daryl "Daryl, go back to the other tower. Take Ken with you"
Then he looked at Carol „Carol, you've become a really good shooter. Take your time. We don't have a lot of armory to waste. "
He looked at Hershel „Hershel, you and Carl take this tower with Carol. "
Daryl put his hand on my lower back and pushed me with him to the other tower. I put my knives away and took my gun out.
He opened to door and we walked upstairs. Thank god there were no walkers on the stairs. We got upstairs and there was one walker. Daryl went to shoot it but I kicked it in the back and it fell over the railing to the ground.
I looked over the railing down to Dad. The walker had nearly hit him.
He looked at me and i shrugged my shoulders.
Daryl began to shoot his arrows. I aimed my gun and shot at one but i didn't hit it. I groaned annoyed. After like 3 failed walkers Daryl stopped shooting and looked at me.
I raised an eyebrow at him.
Daryl " Your attitude is a pain in my ass. So, whatever it is, knock it off"
I rolled my eyes and shot again.
The bullet hit the ground right in front of dad's feet. He looked at me with wide eyes.
I yelled down "Sorry!"
Dad rolled his eyes and then closed the gate.
Then he got into the tower next to him.
Daryl yelled to the others "Light it up!"
The gunfire began.
Daryl took me my gun away.
My jaw dropped at him.
He was already shooting with his crossbow at walkers acting like he didn't do anything wrong "You're wasting bullets"
I raised my eyebrow at him "Give it back or-"
Daryl "or what, princess?"
He challenged me.
I smirked, took my knives out and walked downstairs out of the tower.
Daryl yelled "Get your ass back up here!"
I looked up and mocked him "Or what?"
Then I killed the last walkers. I could hear the others curse at me for being on the field.
The walkers were dead.
Then the others came on the field.
Most of them were looking pissed off.
Dad yelled pissed off "What was that, Kendall?!"
Oh boy
Me "Why don't ya ask your son? hm?"

Recruit - An Infinite Labyrinth prequel
A prequel to The Infinite Labyrinth. The year is 1816. The British Empire is in full swing, under the auspices of King George III. The Infinite Labyrinth has been pouring out its product from beyond our reality and fostered a new industrial revolution. Times are changing, and the people of London are feeling the winds of the revolution while British Professionals push into the Labyrinth. The newly formed Artefact Hunting Company is looking for recruits, and they have new technology to help them. From the slums of London, they aim to recruit a new wave of Professionals. And make Zacharias and the Earl of Carnavon lots of money. So, for Rowan Rivers and a handful of lucky ones, it's time to head into the Labyrinth, and discover what makes it different from England. And what makes THEM different? Recruit is a bunch of chapters I wrote to create to the setting, mood, and game systems of the Infinite Labyrinth. It is NOT a complete story in the classic sense. It's more of a slice of life view of early days of a normal Professional from the Infinite Labyrinth, and it's heavy on info-dump. It's 90% canon - there's probably a bit of a difference between how some characters and common behaviour are portrayed here and how they'll come out in the main story. Set two years before the events that kick-start the main series, it features some of the secondary/peripheral characters of the Infinite Labyrinth and will tell you all about the basic mechanics of the Labyrinth's RPG system. It can be considered a spoiler, as the characters in the Infinite Labyrinth are going to need to figure out all that, on their own. But if you like a much deeper exposition in the mechanics, here it is. The entire prequel is about 80 pages long.
