《The A.I.P. Mystery》The Field Trip

The rest of the day passed in a blur while Selene worked on the mystery. She thought and thought and thought, but no answer came. It was at 11:45 at night when, in bed, Selene thought about the case, the announcement about Alcatraz at dinner, and Aria.

Alcatraz......Norris.....Alcatraz is a National park......Metal sheets........A.I.P........Long hair.......Fisherman's Wharf.......Pier 33.........Ari-Wait a minute, thought Selene, where did I hear about Fisherman's Wharf? Oh, Aria, and the announcement at dinner. Wait, the announcement at dinner? Yes! We go through Fisherman's Wharf to get to Pier 33! There must be a connection!

Selene sat up quickly, thinking hard. Metal.....A.I.P. ...Alcatraz...... Prison Hmmmmmm, metal sheets? Thought Selene, Hmmmmmm, metal brooch! Aria's family made metal sheets that said Alcatraz on them! A.I.P. must have something special so Aria would remember her family! Hmmmmm, but, maybe A.I.P. stands for-HA!

The next morning Selene was very excited for the Alcatraz field trip, and when her friends asked why, she just said it was going to be nice getting outside for once, but she told Pip about the case, and the half answer she got.

"Wow. Good job, Selene." said Pip, but he looked kinda down.

"Thanks!" said Selene "Oh, there's Aria, I gotta go tell her, bye!"

Selene ran to Aria, who was sitting on a bench in the courtyard, waiting for Ms.Pinnicle to come and say the buses are ready.

"I solved a bit of the mystery!" said Selene

"Oh! That's great!" yelled Aria but then, because she was attracting too much attention, whispered. "What did you find out?"

"I'll tell you on the bus," said Selene, as Ms. Pinnicle had just come around the building.

On the bus, Selene and Aria sat in the back row.

"So, I connected some of the dots," said Selene, "and here's what I found out, the A.I.P. actually means Alcatraz Island Prison, because your family made Alcatraz stuff, so why should this be any different? And, since your family lived in Fisherman's Wharf, an easy way to get to Alcatraz is through Fisherman's Wharf."

"Wow, that's actually pretty smart!" said Aria

Selene grinned "Thanks! Also, going to Alcatraz might help, I dunno, find clues, or something and they went to Alcatraz a lot, so it might help, but, why would anyone steal the brooch? It doesn't make sense, so, are you sure you didn't lose it?"

"Yes," said Aria "because I found a page, like out of a notebook, that had the number 138 on it. After the broach was stolen."

"That's a CLUE!" said Selene "and a good one, too. Why didn't you tell me this before?"

"I dunno." She said "I guess I didn't think about it."

"Well, anyway, that really helps, th-"

The bus had stopped with a loud CHCHCHchchchchchchchchchchchchh .

"Students! We are here at Pier 33! Step off the bus in an orderly fashion!" yelled Ms.Pinnicle.

As the students 'stepped off the bus in an orderly fashion' Selene looked at the ship that would bring them to Alcatraz. It had the National Park symbol on it and looked kinda fun to be on.

A nice lady with flaming red hair and a big smile came out.

She somehow smiled even bigger and said, "Hello there, children. My name is Becca, and I'm going to be your tour guide at the National Park Alcatraz Island prison!"

All the children grumbled at being called children.

"Now, if you'd follow me." she said, leading them onto the boat.

The boat ride was very enjoyable, with the salty sea air and the nice view of San Francisco, but Alcatraz looming in the distance, looking dark and scary, put a damper on the boat ride.

After all the children got off, another woman, with short black hair and a haughty expression, was waiting for them.

"Hello there, please sign in." she said unenthusiastically.

"Oh!" said Becca, clearly annoyed that the sour woman didn't have an upbeat attitude, "These are children from the San Francisco Orphanage, they don't need to sign in! Now if you'll excuse me, they have a tour to go on, Cal!"

"Okay. Goodbye." Cal said.
