《The Roftkal Love》Chapter Twenty

_______

It was like Linx time traveled one week back with how peaceful everything was as he was playing with Ivy. He was back home in his bedroom, the two of them drawing on his bed with the colored pencils scattered around the room. Disney songs were softly playing in the background, but that could not break the tension in the room.

A pillow separated the bed horizontally, blocking each other's views. Neither of their pencils stopped moving, the aggressive scratching overpowering the Disney songs. Too soon, an alarm went off and Ivy dove for it and silenced it, knowing that Linx had no clue how to turn it off.

Ivy tossed the phone on the ground, as well as the pillow, and shoved her drawing in Linx's face.

"I win! I win I win I win, you loooose- Ah! Put me down!" Linx leaned over to Ivy and picked her up by her armpits, completely ignoring the sharp pain in his wrists, and twisted her around so both of them were facing their muse to the right.

On a chair, a large spongebob squarepants was laying on his face, with a single white tissue laid on his back. A naked Barbie was next to him on her back, while another naked Barbie was holding a white tissue.

Ivy held up their masterpieces to compare it to the real image and only triumph was present on her face.

"You didn't draw the- the clouds, but I did! And Barbie one is holding a blue towel, not red! There's not a lot of sand too, only Barbie two swimming in the sea!" Ivy swinged the papers around, completely justifying why her beach looked better than his.

"But I drew a sun with sunglasses."

"But I drew moooore!" Ivy leaned into Linx's chest as she stretched out her vowel, her head tilting up to look at Linx. Her bottom lip jutted out, as her eyebrows furrowed, creating an angry broccoli with her curly hair.

Since not only did Linx not play with her for the past eleven days, he also gave her the baddies and made her feel all slimy by how much she was sweating! She was a slimy snail all because of him.

But before she could speak up again, the bedroom door slowly opened and the smell of bacon wafted through. Remi brought over the tray and place it in on the bed, revealing two delicious bacon panini's and some glass cups filled with mango juice.

Ivy completely forgot about the drawing as she tossed them off the bed and reached for food. Linx didn't reach for the food, instead he adjusted his position so Ivy was sitting in between his legs and not on top of his lap. He stared at the sandwich, then back at Remi, wondering why he was still standing there.

Remi, startled to have Linx's full attention on him, realized how awkward it must seem for him to just stand and stare at them. A faint blush crept down to his neck as he kneeled on the ground and picked up the drawings, directing his focus to Ivy.

"Were you two drawing a beach party?" Ivy's eyes sparkled at that, more than happy to talk to him about the adventures Barbie one and Barbie Two had had. Not to mention that she had to know which drawing was the obviously superior one.

As the two talked in between Ivy's bites, Linx reached for his sandwich and tuned out of their conversation. He didn't have the energy to participate in their joyful talk and actually, he didn't have the energy to hold his sandwich and chew it either. With each bite his headache only seemed to get worse, a headache that he's had ever since he came back home. Along with his sprained wrists that causes pain at the slightest of movements, Linx was extremely drained.

Despite this, he ignored his exhaustion and tried to quickly eat his sandwich. He already felt bad enough about giving Ivy the flu and not hanging out with her, so disregarding his sleep was no big deal to make her happy.

After who knows how long, Linx's legs suddenly grew cold. He opened his eyes, never remembering closing them, and saw Remi carrying Ivy in his arms. Ivy giggled at Linx for no reason and Linx looked at Remi for an explanation.

"Some tomatoes fell on Ivy's shirt, so we'll quickly go wash that up." Remi gave a light smile while Ivy kept on giggling, hiding her shirt from Linx's view.

Getting his explanation, Linx didn't bother wasting more energy on responding back. He went back to eating and Remi took that as his que to leave. Linx didn't wonder why Remi didn't just go into his bathroom, but instead left the room entirely to simply wash out juice stain. The thought never entered his mind as he finished his sandwich and gently wiped his hands on some napkins.

What he did wonder instead was what he was going to do from now on. Sure, police have come to Rooster before, but Linx could just feel that this time around the police wouldn't be so ignorant of activities happening in Rooster. Neither Rose or him take part in any of the illegal deeds, but he hoped that neither of them had to be questioned.

But if, maybe when, Rooster closes down, he wasn't sure what he'll do anymore. Perhaps he'll get back into parkour, but it was winter and he didn't want to slip off rooftops. Or join a breakdance group around town if he's really desperate to escape and live a little. For now though, he might as well wait until his wrists are healed until he makes any decisions.

As he was laying in the peace and quiet, with nothing but his thoughts disturbing him, he slowly fell asleep...

"There's my pumpkin! What're you giggling about?" Rose tickled Ivy as Remi handed her over, her shirt just as clean as when she arrived here. Ivy didn't reply to Rose, she just kept on giggling.

Kade glanced at Remi, seeing if their plan worked, and got a quick nod from Remi. Kade smiled and looked at the corridor where Linx's room was, glad that Linx could get some rest.

"Will you be staying for dinner? Orion, Austin, and I made mashed potatoes with a meaty sauce." Trev quietly spoke up and Rose shook her head.

"I'm sorry, but I already had some plans with your guys' mom's. We're going to watch The Lion King musical and then eat at their place. But maybe next time because Austin's cooking is divine." Austin nodded at her, offering his thanks, and Rose gave a thumbs up back.

Rose set Ivy down and handed Ivy her coat, hoping she would be a big girl today and do it herself. Perhaps because Ivy finally got to hang out with Linx, she quickly out on her jacket and her mittens as well. As the two were dressing up, Trev looked at them with anxious eyes.

Yes yes, Trev already had his talk with the boys about his growing trust issues that came out of nowhere and that they'll never judge him if he asks for help. They'll probably argue with him if whatever he needs help with seems like a bad idea, but Trev will deal with that when it'll happen.

But really, you couldn't exactly fix the effects your gas lighter friends had on you when you were in Highschool. Trev's had his fair share of being backstabbed and backstabbing right back, and with every pretty little lie he found out making his heart just a little bit more shielded. It didn't exactly help that his mother and him were living with her temporary boyfriend, offering him little privacy to talk to his mom about his problems. But oh well, at least he learned life's lesson early on before he experienced true tragedy.

For now though, he had to deal with the mental hump of whether or not to ask Rose what's been on his mind since the incident, before the boys notice and they go lecture him again. He just needed an opening, somewhere he can insert his question smoothly and-

"So how often will Ivy be coming over? I don't think Linx will mind her presence and we're all okay with her being here." Orion came out of the kitchen, wiping his hands on a blue towel.

"Forever!" Ivy shouted, her hands shooting up and waving around. Rose shook her head, ruffling her hair.

"Maybe just the weekdays? I still want to hang out with my girl because my new job only gives me a break on weekends." And just like that, Trev sensed his opening.

"Oh, I didn't know you had a new job. I thought you still worked for Rooster, being their coach and all?" Rose shook her head at that, a frown growing in her face. She adjusted Ivy's hat before looking over at Trev. She intentionally lowered her voice so Ivy wouldn't have to hear it.

"Well, I'm still technically employed by Rooster but I don't think that'll last any longer. The police found some drugs and illegal firearms. Our boss, the owner of the building, disappeared on us and I don't think anybody in Rooster is willing to save it. So I found a job at some office but I'm looking for any gyms that are hiring personal trainers." They all nodded their heads, understanding the situation, but one question was still in their mind.

"What will Linx do once Rooster shuts down?" Trev already assumed that Rooster will shut down, he was just worried about Linx's wellbeing once he hears the news about it. He knew Linx needed to find a new outlet, but he wasn't sure what that will be.

"I... I don't know. He's come to Rooster everyday, training for hours, for the past six years. I wish I knew what Linx could do next but he's never mentioned any hobbies or passions. I just hope he doesn't get back into street fighting because he can actually lose his life." Rose's frown deepened, not wanting to bring back old memories of when she just met Linx.

His knees and elbows scrapped with some bruise always on him. Maybe a black eye if he got unlucky one day. Luckily, once he started to focus on Rooster the severity of his bruises lessened and he became a lot more quick witted on how to dodge all the punches.

Trev hummed, that being the answer he was expecting. Perhaps he was a bit too hopeful in the idea that Linx trusted Rose with everything and she knew what was going on in Linx's head.

"For now though, I won't tell Linx about Rooster closing down. I'll wait until his wrists are healed before he starts to excessively working out to get rid of his stress. So until then, I got to go or else we'll be late. Say bye and thank you, Ivy!"

"Bye and thank you!" Ivy waved at that and the rest of the boys waved back. The two walked out onto the snowy asphalt and Remi closed the door behind them. With Ivy gone the house grew quiet and peaceful.

"I bet a fifty that Linx will start working out tomorrow."

"I bet he already worked out yesterday."

Finn and Orion grinned at each other, already knowing what conversation they'll strike with Linx when they serve him breakfast. Remi shook their head at their foolishness because he already knew the answer.

"I bet you two doing the laundry that Linx already worked out the moment he got home."
