《The Last Hybrid》16-The Truth

Did people really hate me that much!?

They had to paint "Burn the witch" on the side of the house.

"Rosie!" A familiar voice called my name.

I looked into the direction of the voice.

David and Archie were running towards me.

David embraced me in a hug.

"Are you ok? Who wrote that?" He asked after he let me go.

"I'm fine but I don't know who did this."

"Rosie." Archie hugged me. "When did you get back?"

I let him go. "Yesterday. Where were you guys?"

"We got drunk."

"Say no more. I don't want the details."

They nodded in understanding.

I saw Jonathan walk out of the pack house and stare at the paint covered wall.

He looked like he was about to murder someone.

I hurried over to him.

"Jonathan?" I spoke.

"Did you see with did this?" He asked without taking his eyes off the wall.

"No, I just got back."

"I am going to have the guards search all the rooms."

"What's the point of that? What are you expecting to find."

"Anything to help me find out who did this."

They sat the boy down on a chair in front of me.

I came into the conference room in the pack house because they said they found the guy who painted the walls.

The two guards held him in place by keeping their hands on his shoulders.

Jonathan walked into the room and close the door behind him.

This kid they brought looks like he's 15.

Why would he do this?

He kept glaring at me.

But it didn't look like hatred.

"Why did you do it?" Jonathan asked in his alpha voice.

"What makes you think I did it?" He responded.

"We found a can of red spray paint in your room."

"That doesn't mean anything. I use that to make art. I'm not the only one who does that."

"Then why were you the only one with an empty can of paint."

He paused. "Alright. You caught me I did it."

"Why?"

"Because I felt like it. We all know what she is and we know what her mother is."

"And that gave you the right to paint Burn the witch on the wall?"

"Why not? She left us."

"I have a feeling there is more then you are telling us."

"Jonathan." I intervened.

"What?" He asked.

"He's lying."

"How do you know?" The boy asked.

"I can sense it."

He scoffed. "Yeah right."

"You were glaring at me when you walked in."

"I had a right to."

"But it wasn't with hatred. It looked more like you were sorry."

"Why? I have no reason to be sorry."

"Verum demus ei." I casted a truth spell.

"My father painted it but he made me take the fall for it."

"Why did he do it?"

"I don't know he was supportive of you being Luna now but for some reason, he hates you know."

"Why did he want you to take the fall."

"Something is wrong with him. When you got back he became more aggressive. I don't hate you but he does."

"Let him go and bring his dad in," I told the guards.

They nodded and took the kid out.

"We know who did it so why do you want to talk to him?" Jonathan asked

"I have a feeling he doesn't hate me."

"What are you going to do?"

"A little spell I've seen my grandma do."

The door opened and the guards came in with a man.

They sat him down in the same spot his son was sitting.

"Well if it isn't the witch." He glared.

It was just like his son's glare.

"Why did you do it?" I asked.

"You left our pack and left us weak."

I looked directly into his eyes.

He didn't believe that.

"I can tell when you are lying." I said.

"Then why don't you cast your little truth spell you did on my son."

"I will cast a spell. But not a truth spell."

He back up in his seat a little bit but kept a tough face on.

"Si alius fecit mihi incantatores esse, qui fecit illum, et."

I had to stare directly into his eyes for the spell to work.

His eyes glowed bright white.

I got a vision.

Of my mother casting a spell on some of the pack members.

She wants them to hate me.

She wants to drive me away from my pack.

What is she planning?

I pulled myself away from the vision.

The man's eyes stopped glowing.

He looked at me with confusion. "What did you do to me!?"

"Solve fasciculos naenia." I casted another spell.

His eyes widened and he gasped.

The spell is working.

He closed his eyes for a second and shook his head.

He looked around in confusion at the guards around him until his eyes landed on me.

"Luna?" His eyebrows creased. "When did you get here? I saw your mother earlier, along with some other people I wanted to tell you."

"It's ok I know. She put a spell on you and the others."

"What?"

"It's ok. I removed it. Can you bring the other people you were with. I think they were infected with the spell too."

"Of course Luna. I'm glad to have you back."

I smiled then turned to the guards. "Let him go."

They nodded and left the room.

"What kind of spell did your mother used?" Jonathan asked.

"A different kind of truth spell." I looked down at the floor.

"What do you mean? And how did you know it was your mother?"

"A vision spell, is what I used. My mother used a different kind of truth spell."

"But he was nice after you casted the spell on him."

"The spell my mother used brought up his hatred. He didn't mean it but it was something he kept hidden. I simply removed the spell."

"So all those things he said, he meant it but he didn't want to use that paint."

I nodded while keeping my gaze on the floor.

The door opened revealing the guards and more people.

They were glaring at me.

I was already familiar with that glare.

It was fake.

They all began arguing and yelling at me.

I closed my eyes and casted the spell.

"Solve fasciculos naeniam."

The noise stopped.

I opened my eyes and stared at the crowd.

They stared at me with happiness and began talking all at once again.

They were saying stuff about my mother.

"My mother put a spell on all of you." I spoke. "I removed the spell. Don't worry, you're safe now."

They all began thanking me all at once.

"Please go about your business again. I am not going anywhere again." I said.

They all left the room.

"Are you ok?" Jonathan asked.

"No. those things they said, it was coming from them, not a spell."

"It will get better." He hugged me from behind. "The night is still young. If you want to sleep over with my sister and your friends go ahead."

I leaned into him. "Thanks but I think that can wait till tomorrow. I hope this whole thing with my mother blows over soon."

"What do you want to do then?"

I turned around and pressed my lips to his. "You tell me."

He picked me up and managed to take me to his room without being seen.

"You know exactly what I want to do.
