《The Last Hybrid》15-Burn the Witch

I woke up and I was still in Jonathan's room.

Only he wasn't there.

I sat up from my spot and rubbed my face with my hands.

All the events that happened yesterday flooded my mind.

I hope Quincy is ok.

Hopefully no one freaked out when they saw him.

There was a knock at the door.

"Come in."

Jonathan walked in holding a plate of food.

He walked in and closed the door behind him.

He set the food on the side table.

"Are doing ok?" He asked.

"I guess. Has everyone calmed down?"

He nodded. "We managed to separate everyone but they are still having arguments over private mind link."

I looked down at my lap.

"Hey." He grabbed my face with both hands. "Don't blame yourself. They just feel really strongly about their opinion."

"I know."

The door bursted open as Stephany, Marie, and Josie walked in.

"Jonathan get out." Stephany said.

"Why it's my room." He said.

"We haven't had a night out with Rosie in months. You've had our fun with her and now it's our turn."

"I am not leaving my room." He crossed his arms over his chest.

"Lanuae de gazofilacio." I casted a spell.

Jonathan disappeared in a puff of smoke out of the room.

I sent him to the living room.

'Traitor.' He mind linked me.

"You have to teach me that." Stephany said.

I smiled.

I grabbed the plate of food and began eating.

The girls all sat on the bed around me.

"So what are we going to do?" I asked as I ate.

"We were thinking we go into town and then when we get back sleepover." Stephany explained.

"But what are we going to do all day?"

"Shop!?" Josie asked hopefully.

"Didn't you go shopping yesterday?" Marie asked.

"Well if we are not going shopping then I got no other ideas." Josie responded.

An Idea popped up in my head.

"Ladies, pack your swimsuits. I have just the place." I said.

****************

"How much longer until we get there?" Josie complained.

"We are almost there. Don't worry." I responded.

We were walking in the woods.

To the place I was taking them.

We had our swimsuits underneath our clothes.

And Josie was carrying a picnic basket full of food.

I don't know what she packed but one thing is for sure.

I am going to eat it no matter what it is.

And Marie was carrying our towels.

"Why is this place so far? And this path seems very familiar to me." Stephany asked.

"Yeah. This is just proving how out of shape I am." Quincy Spoke.

"And why is he here? This is supposed to be a girls day." Stephany stopped walking.

"I got sick of people staring at me. It's like they have never seen a wolf before." He rolled his eyes.

"You know I could have turned you back into a puppy." I pointed out.

"No way! I am not risking being turned into a duck again." He kept walking.

"Wait you turned him into a duck?" Marie asked as we kept walking

"I was learning a new spell. I needed a volunteer."

"More like a hostage." Quincy mumbled.

"Relax Quincy. We're here."

The line of trees ended as we were faced with a waterfall that was familiar to me.

And I'm guessing Stephany knew about this place too.

Jonathan did say they spent a lot of time here as a family.

"Woah! Rosie where did you find this place?" Marie asked.

"Jonathan took me here on our first date." I answered.

They all awed but Quincy pretended to throw up.

"No way! He took you here!?" Stephany squealed.

" Hey he did but today is not about boys or stress or worries. We are here to have a good time." I said.

"Well while you guys have fun, I am going to nap." Quincy said as he laid down.

"You always nap!" Stephany pointed out.

"Your point?"

"Whatever. Forget about him. Let's go for a swim!" Josie spoke.

"Hold on, don't start stripping just yet." I stopped them.

"Why?" Stephany asked.

"Mutata veste nostra." I casted a spell.

The spell caused our clothes to fade and our swimsuits to appeared.

"What was the point of that?" Quincy asked.

"Style." I answered. "Ladies, let's go!"

They put down our stuff next to a large rock.

They all went to the shallow end first before walking into deeper into the water.

I took the stone staircase to the top of the waterfall.

I was looking over the edge.

I didn't feel the same fear as I did the first time I did this.

I screamed in joy as I jumped off the edge.

The cold water surrounded me.

I opened my eyes under the water.

The rocks were still there from our first date.

I swam back up to the surface.

I gasped for air.

"That was amazing." Marie smiled.

"I'm next." Josie swam to the shallow end and walked up the stone stairs.

Marie chased after her.

"You were under there for a while. Are you ok?" Stephany swam towards me.

"I'm fine. let's just have fun."

She smiled and watched as Marie jumped off the edge the same way I did.

I swam to the waterfall and allowed the water to drench me.

'Are you ok? Where are you?' Jonathan's voice appeared in my head.

'I'm fine. You don't need to worry about me.' I responded.

'But are you safe? Tell me where you are. I'll pick you up.'

'Stop worrying. I'm at the waterfall. You don't need to come.'

'I will always worry about you.'

'Well stop for now. Try to settle everything at the pack to pass the time.'

'Do you really want to get rid of me that bad?' He asked in a playful tone.

'No I want to spend time with my friends. Without you.'

'I am hurt, Cupcake. When you get back, I'll have to--'

'What?' I asked in a playful manner. 'You don't scare me alpha.'

'I will punish you.'

'We'll see about that. I can escape.'

'You won't from me.'

"Rosie!" Josie's voice snapped me out of our conversation.

I swam back to them.

"Let's eat." Marie said as we swam to shore.

"Hey Josie?" I spoke.

"Yeah."

"I don't want to be rude but how are you doing with Archie?" I asked.

She froze and looked down. "I don't know. It's more or less the same."

"Well did you explain to him what happened?"

"Yeah but I don't think he wants anything to do with me."

"Don't worry. We will figure it out."

We took out the food from the basket and started eating.

*******************

The sun had already set as we were walking back to the pack house.

We were laughing and telling jokes.

"Hey, Quincy," Stephany said.

"Yeah." He answered.

"Did it hurt when you turned into a duck?"

"Kinda. Why?"

"Because I don't give a quack."

"Cringe!" I said.

It did make all of us cringe but we laughed anyway.

Until we reached the pack house.

I stopped laughing and froze in my spot.

I nearly broke down in tears.

In bloody red paint on the side of the house.

It read "Burn the witch."
