《The Last Hybrid》13-Welcome Home

I walked back into the house with Quincy by my side.
"I'm going back to sleep, Quincy."
"How can you even think about sleeping after what just happened?"
"Violet has always been self-absorbed and selfish. It doesn't bother me."
"Still."
"I once seen you sleep through my music at full blast."
"That's different. I had a good dream." He smirked.
I rolled my eyes. "Just try to go back to sleep. I'll tell my grandma what happened in the morning."
I didn't wait for a response.
I went up the stairs and entered the room I was sleeping in before.
I opened the door and saw a stirring figure in the bed.
I forgot Jonathan was still in the room.
The pillow he was hugging was now on the floor.
He was stirring around in his sleep like he was having a nightmare and he was breathing heavily.
He seemed to be mumbling stuff but I wasn't able to make out what he was saying.
He kept tossing and turning.
I sat down on the bed and ran my fingers through his hair.
He stopped moving but he was still breathing heavily.
I laid down without removing my hand from his hair.
I used my other hand to grab his arm and put it around my waist.
He tightened his grip around me and buried his face in my neck as his breathing calmed.
I continued to run my fingers through his hair.
"I told you I'd be back." I whispered as I shut my eyes and fell asleep.
*******************
I woke up to a warm body next to me.
Jonathan was still asleep soundly even though it was bright outside already.
We were in the same position as we were last night.

He was holding me tight.
He clearly had no intention of letting me go again.
He stirred around a little bit in his sleep.
Good. He's waking up.
Instead of opening his eyes like I thought he would, he pulled me closer.
I really need to go to the bathroom.
Might as well wake him up myself.
"Jonathan. Wake up." I elbowed him in his stomach lightly.
He groaned. "Five more minutes."
I missed his morning voice.
"No. Jonathan let me go." I responded.
"No, I want to stay here."
"Just let me go."
"Fine, but come back."
He released me from his grip.
I walked out of the room and opened a random door.
It was just an empty room, not the bathroom.
I still wasn't familiar with the house yet and I haven't explored it.
It was large and had a lot of rooms.
And I don't know where the bathroom is.
I opened another door and thankfully it was the bathroom.
I did my business and washed my hands.
I walked out of the bathroom and walked back to the room I was sleeping in.
My suitcases were on the floor.
I didn't even know they were there.
I guess I was too tired to even noticed they were there last night.
I opened one of my suitcases and pulled out my hair dryer and straightener along with a t-shirt and jeans.
I grabbed a towel and my shampoo and conditioner.
I got up and went to leave the room until Jonathan stopped me.
"You just got back, where are you going?" Jonathan asked.
"I need to shower."
"But you said you'd come back."
"And I will, after my shower."
"But then it will be too late."

"It's already noon. I suggest you get dressed."
He pouted.
I shook my head and smiled as I left the room.
I went back to the bathroom and quickly got showered.
After I got dressed I dried my hair and straightened it.
I walked out of the bathroom and went back to the room.
When I returned Jonathan wasn't there.
I guess he's downstairs.
I put my stuff back into my suitcase and went downstairs.
Jonathan was sitting at the kitchen eating cereal next to my grandma.
"Grandma, something happened last night." I spoke as I walked up to the other side of the counter.
Her expression turned into a worried one. "Did your mother come?"
I shook my head. "No."
"What happened, Cupcake?" Jonathan asked.
"Violet showed up in the middle of the night to test out her new powers."
"What did she do?" My grandma asked. "More importantly what kind of spells did she use."
"An invisibility spell and I'm guessing a teleportation spell unless she took the bus into the middle of the woods."
"Ok, so your aunt Hazel has barely trained her. She is a lot slower then you were if she got caught."
"Well it helped that she wouldn't stop yapping. All she does is talk."
"Rosie, I need to talk to you in private." She said.
We walked to the living room and left Jonathan in the kitchen.
"What is it grandma?" I asked.
She spoke quietly. "If Violet knows we are here then your mom knows by now also."
"So what's the problem? Is it the book?" I whispered.
"No, I can take care of the book. But you are not safe here. I need you to go back to the pack house with Jonathan."
"I said I would."
"I need you to go now. Today. Take Quincy with you."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. I'd rather your mom get to me first before she gets to you."
"Grandma I want to go back to my pack, but I left. They don't want me back as my Luna."
"If you explain what happened they will accept you back. A real pack never turns their backs on their Luna."
"Alright. I'll tell Jonathan and we'll leave tonight."
"Good. Now get your stuff."
She stayed in the living room as I went back into the kitchen.
"Jonathan?" I spoke.
"Yeah?"
I took a deep breath. "if it's ok with you, I'd like to go back to the pack house tonight."
He stood up from his seat and smiled.
"Of course, Cupcake! We can leave now if you want! Everyone will be happy to see you."
"Wait. Can you not tell anyone at the pack until we arrive?"
"Are you worried?" His smile fell.
I nodded. "I'm worried that the pack won't want me back."
He wrapped his arms around me. "Everyone misses you. They will want you back."
"Are you sure?" I rested my head against his chest.
"Of course." He kissed the top of my head.
"I'll go get my stuff."
****************
We were walking through the forest with my suitcases.
Quincy was walking with us.
We were getting closer and closer to the pack house.
And the closer we got the more restless my nerves got.
There were fewer trees now and the pack house.
My nerves were gone and a smile took over my face.
"Welcome home." Jonathan said next to me.
