《HYBRID: Jimin ✔️》Caught in a Lie

Jin's uncle on his mother's side was a veterinarian about an hour away from where you lived.
You, Namjoon, and Jin entered the office, which caused a little bell attached to the door to ring. There were a couple customers in the waiting room holding various animals.
Jin skipped yo to the counter and greeted the secretary familiarly.
"We're here to see my uncle!" Jin told her.
The lady smiled and motioned the three of you into a formal office. You sat in chairs in front of a dark wooden desk and waited until Jin's uncle entered the office.
He had a jolly disposition and kind of a goofy grin. You could see the resemblance, personality-wise, in an instant.
"Hello!" The three of you stood and bowed when he entered and Jin smiled and embraced the man.
"This is my uncle, Bang Si-hyuk ," Jin introduced his uncle to you. "Uncle, these are Namjoon and Y/N."
"Nice to meet you! I heard you have a problem with your cat." Jin's uncle smiled at you and motioned for you to take a seat.
"Yes sir, we do," you said.
"Tell me what the problem is. I hope I can help."
Jin somehow managed to explain Jimin's symptoms without revealing that he was actually a person instead of a cat.
You all watched anxiously as Jin's uncle thought hard about it.
"Jinnie..." Mr. Bang said slowly. "Will you answer a question?"
You shifted uncomfortably at his expression. A bad feeling settled in your stomach.
"Sir?" Jin asked.
"You have a hybrid, don't you?"
The three of you sat frozen in silence for a moment, not believing your ears.
"Uh..." Jin said awkwardly.
Jin's uncle laughed heartily, waving his hand. "It's okay, really! I have a patient in the area who was attacked, but he was uncomfortable going to the hospital. I've been studying him, so maybe I can help you."
You were relieved at his statement, and hopeful. This was actually good; he might really be able to help Jimin.
"It's one of our friends," Namjoon told him. "He was changed and everything was fine until the other night. He got really weak and feverish and became extremely, er, territorial over a girl."
Jin's uncle nodded and snapped his fingers. "Yes, I've heard of that. It's common with animals also, but not as intense." Leaning his elbows on the table, Mr. Bang began to describe to you the situation.
"Animals come into a certain time where they are in prime condition for reproduction, so their body urges them to work at reproducing more often than normal during that time. It's called a heat."
Namjoon, Jin and you nodded in understanding.

"So he was having a heat?" Jin asked. "How often does this happen?"
"Well, its more than that." Mr. Bang crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair. "From my experience with hybrids, it doesn't just happen. It has to be woken first."
"How?"
"You said he was possessive over a girl, right?"
You all nodded in confirmation.
"That girl is how," Mr. Bang said. Jin and Namjoon slowly turned to look at you and you couldn't do anything but stare back with startled eyes.
You shook your head and hissed, "Don't look at me! I've never started anything with him!"
Jin's uncle didn't hear you and kept talking.
"My other patient experienced something similar; he kissed a girl that he had like for a long time, and a couple days later he was in the same state as your friend. Went nuts, wouldn't let anyone else near her." Scratching his neck, Mr. Bang shrugged. "They were very close. It seems to be one specific person that the hybrid is close to; only they can wake up the heat."
"Will it happen again?" Jin asked.
Nodding, his uncle told you,"If your friend isn't having sexual relations with that girl, it'll probably happen again. She's the only one who can stop it."
You snorted in denial.
Oh heck to the no. I am not having sex with him because of something he started.
You crossed your arms over your chest and sat back in a defensive position, letting both Jin and Namjoon know that you were not going there.
The three of you thanked Jin's uncle and left in silence, pondering what he had told you.
"Should we tell Jimin?" Namjoon sighed.
"No," you responded immediately, but Jin considered.
"I think we should," he murmured. "He'd be angry if we didn't."
Turning fully to you, Jin frowned. "But when did you 'wake up his heat', per say? I didn't know you two were together like that."
"We aren't," you said flatly.
Sensing that it was a touchy subject, he backed off.
"I think we should tell him," Namjoon said. Jin agreed, and you just sighed.
The truth was finally going to come out.

"You're trying to tell me that Y/N woke up this so-called 'heat'?"
Jimin stared suspiciously at the three of you as you sat opposite him at your kitchen table. His short fingers tapped habitually against the table, once again creating that irritating tapping noise.
The whole situation felt like you were interrogating a criminal.
"Y/N," he continued. "My best friend, whom, except for that accident the other day, I have had zero sexual contact with."

Sitting back, Jimin crossed his arms and laughed a little.
"Is this a joke? It isn't even possible! I have not slept with or had sexual contact with Y/N!"
Not for lack of trying, buddy. You glared at him.
Jin shook his head and pointed at Jimin.
"You had to have, at some point," he argued.
"But we haven't," Jimin fired back. "Right, Y/N?"
You kept totally silent and still, hoping he would keep going and not notice your lack of a response. If it was the last thing you did, you were going to keep your mouth shut until it was absolutely essential for you to speak.
But Jimin noticed.
"Right?" he said again. "Y/N?"
"What exactly are you counting as sexual?" you mumbled to Jin nervously.
Sighing, Jin repeated that same motion of rubbing away a headache at the bridge of his nose. It was a common theme.
You were the headache, probably.
"Come on, Y/N," Jin groaned. "Anything from making out to actually doing the do, you know! Just spit it out!"
Jimin thumped his hand down on the table in frustration. "Spit what out? That kind of stuff is two sided, I would have known! We haven't done anything!"
Dang it.
"Actually," you hedged. "There might have been this one time-"
"There's been no time!" Jimin cut you off.
You slowly started to pull at the collar of your shirt.
"What are you doing?" Jimin stuttered. He was thinking hard now, then a slow realization was starting to form in his eyes. His gaze widened.
"There wasn't a time," he whispered in horror. "Y/N, why are you doing that?"
"Because, Jimin," you said quietly. "You bit me hard."
You stretched the neckline down to reveal the massive, fading bruise on your shoulder. When it came into view, Namjoon and Jin both gasped and something in Jimin's eyes sparked. All of the blood drained from his face.
Your best friend's nostrils flared.
"That was a dream," he breathed. "I dreamt that." His pale, lifeless face was gradually filling up with the red sheen of anger.
"It was real," you said.
"You bit her?!" Namjoon, who had been silent up to this point, cried. "Jiminie!"
"I was asleep!" Jimin defended. "And you're saying that like she wasn't into it!"
"Y/N?" Jin gasped. "You liked it?"
"I am not discussing this with you guys!" you squeaked.
"You're right." Jimin got to his feet and smacked his hands flat down on the table, leaning forward intimidatingly. "What we need to discuss is why you lied to me."
Jin and Namjoon both quickly stood and fled the room, abandoning you to Jimin. Traitors.
"I didn't lie," you sighed. "It was more like selective enlightenment."
"You didn't tell me," Jimin argued. "I even talked to you about it! That wasn't your secret to keep!"
At that, you stood up too. The fact that he wasn't even considering your side made you want to punch him in the face.
The two of you were face to face, glaring with wide eyes and furrowed brows.
"How was I going to tell you?" Your voice kept rising in intensity. "You were basically telling me how glad you were that you had a dream about Hani! What did you want me to say? 'Haha, sorry Chim, but it wasn't a dream about the girl of you're half in love with, it was just me and the bite mark is real'. Is that what you wanted?!"
Jimin's chest was heaving in fury and his eyes were huge. He pointed a finger only inches away from your face and said in deep-voiced anger, "Every time I turn around, you're lying about something. I can't believe you didn't tell me."
"Excuse me?!"
"What kind of friend are you?" he yelled.
You gritted your teeth together and stood on your tip toes to try to seem bigger. "I was trying to not disappoint you!"
"Well, you did! Just because they think that there's some kind of mystic bond-heat-thing connecting us doesn't mean I'm going to drop Hani and take you," Jimin growled. Then came another frustrated, "Why didn't you tell me?! You should have!"
You huffed and set your hands on your hips. "Did I ask you to take me? I wouldn't want you if you were the last man alive!"
"Good! I wouldn't want you either! And I never will!" Jimin hollered.
"Good!" You screamed back.
"I can't believe we were friends," he sneered coldly. "I didn't know you were such a liar."
Grabbing his jacket and things, Jimin stormed out of the house after sending you one last angry, cold glare. The door slammed behind him.
Sudden silence in the house hit your chest like a sledgehammer. Your heart felt like it had been hit and run over by a semi truck. A good breath couldn't be grasped by your lungs. His words were sucking the air out of you.
What kind of friend are you?
I wouldn't want you either.
And I never will.
I can't believe we were friends.
Were.
You sat down in your chair as your legs collapsed underneath you.
Then you folded your arms on the table, laid your head on top of them, and cried.

Mud's Mission
The story begins with an elderly hermit mage living on the outskirts of a labyrinth town. Invoking spellwork that is trivial for a mage of his caliber, he creates a simple mud automaton to aid him in household chores. However, in the middle of his efforts, something goes wrong; his ancient heart finally fails. Now, half complete and with limited understanding of the world, an artificial being of mud stirs. Despite its limitations, it has a mission to fulfill. The last instructions of a dying creator. "Defend my home, and my possessions." To the mechanical mind of Mud, only absolute perfection is acceptable when fulfilling the orders of The Master. Mud will make sure nothing in the universe will ever threaten The Master's home! --- This fiction contains RPG elements such as skills and levels. The protagonist has an inhuman mind and acts on instincts and preferences that are completely different from those of a normal human, and may at times fly in the face of common sense. The general tone is lighthearted, but there are some scenes with disturbing content such as mind control and references to torture. Join our Discord to discuss the novel or chat with the author.

Of Men and Dragons, Book 1
Book 1 is now available on Kindle, or in paperback/hardcover! You can buy it here! Jack crash-landed on a planet where the natives are seven-foot-tall carnivorous cat-lizards currently somewhere between stone and bronze age. The good news is the natives think the ship that crashed into their mountain is a dragon and are steering clear of it. The bad news is they just left one of their own as a sacrifice to appease the beast. No matter what Jack and his AI co-pilot decide, his life just got a lot more complicated... ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.
