《The Hybridz | TBZ✔》Chapter 49 | New Work

After a week of pure exhaustion with my eleven hybrids, we were going home. I felt bad for them...so I stayed home for a week to take care of them. They liked that. A lot. I had to change jobs now too to get more money so I could take care of my hybrids even more. It became a few more hours per week, but I could sacrifice myself. When they got to hear that I was going to start working as a secretary...they got mad.
“Not happening. Not at all”, Younghoon said. “You’re not going to work with some good looking man that could-”
Sunwo pushed him away before he could finish the sentence.
“What he means is that you can get overworked. It’s not a good idea, Y/N”, he said.
“It's not much more. I’ll get more money too so I can take care of you even better!” I said with a smile. “Don’t you want it to be better?”
“Better?” Kevin asked weirdly. “We don’t need better, Y/N, we just need you and your attention...if you’re going to work more than what about us?”
“It’s not much more, guys, it’ll be fine.”
“No!” they protested.
“I’m going for my first day tomorrow, it’s fine.”
“No. No it’s not”, Eric growled.
“Sorry to burst your bubble, kitty, but I have to.”

The very next morning when I woke up, I noticed how the others woke up as well. I walked into the bathroom to take a shower and when I came out in my bathrobe, I saw how they stood outside, waiting. They looked so tired with their puffy faces and messy hair that they hid under their hoodies.
“Can I help you?” I asked.

They didn’t answer, they just followed me with their eyes. I walked into my room and changed into my new business attire, a skirt and blouse. I walked out...and there they were.
“Go back to bed, guys, you look really tired”, I said, walking towards the stairs.
“No”, Sangyeon said shortly.
They followed me down the stairs and into the kitchen. I sighed and looked at them. I walked over to Changmin who looked like he’d pass out and cupped his cheeks.
“Go to sleep”, I said softly. “You need sleep.”
“Don’t leave…”, he whispered.
I sighed and walk to get my coffee. I said that they could have a cup if they wanted, but they didn’t answer. They watched me eat breakfast. It was so uncomfortable having their eyes on me, following my every move.
“I need to go now”, I said. “I’ll see you tonight. Take care of each other while I’m gone.”
They followed me to the door, still not saying anything.

A Castle in a Teacup
One might say that to anger forces beyond the ken of fragile breakable mortals is a bad idea, others might say that meddling in dark forces with little chance of gain is also a bad idea, they would both be right by on all counts but they forget to mention also how incredibly stupid combining both of those things are. Stupid people don’t last so long on the mystic side of things, normal folks who wander over to the other side have a tendency to do one of two things, either A. figure out that the best thing to do is keep their head down and not draw attention from any entity that refers to humanity as “you mortals” , or B. something horrifying happens to them. As you may have guessed I fell into the second category, mostly because I thought there was a third option. See I though there must be an option C, an option where I got to end up not as some shitty back ally wizard cowering at the chance of discovery, praying that one of my wards or spells wouldn’t be noticed by something that goes bump in the night. No I would be the one who rose above all that. I would never have to be afraid. Well I made a good attempt at it that’s for damn sure, but unfortunately for me it turns out there is not an option C. At least not for me…
