《The Hybridz | TBZ✔》Chapter 3 | I Don't Fit In

Their first afternoon in the house was spent getting to know each other and getting to know the place.
“I have a rule, boys!” I said loudly, gaining their attention. “I have been researching your animals and...please don’t urinate inside. Mark your territory in another way, okay?”
They nodded obediently. Jacob and Jaehyun ran outside to play and I noticed how they teamed up two or three...but one.
“Chanhee, what’s wrong?” I asked, patting his back.
“I don’t fit in here”, he said quietly.
“What do you mean?”
“They’re either some pet-animals, dangerous ones or farm ones...what about me? I’m a penguin...I live in the cold and in water…”
“Juyeon’s a hawk-”
“He’s a predator. He fits in with them. I don’t. You notice that they’re hybrids. It’s not as easy with me! I don’t have any animal-like teeth or features...I walk like a penguin, right, but I don’t look like one!”
“You do. Don’t be like that. I even bought some fish for you, do you want that?”
He smiled and nodded while following me into the kitchen. I brought out a little fish from the fridge and gasped in surprise as he swallowed it whole and raw.
“O-Oh…”, I chuckled in surprise.
“Sorry, Y/N...I should have been more polite.”
“It’s okay. I’m glad you enjoyed the fish.”

Their first night arrived and they changed into their pajamas. They went down to the living room for a snack before sleeping.
“I look sexy even like this, it is amazing”, Kevin joked as he spinned in front of the mirror.
“Please”, Sunwoo scoffed and rolled his eyes before he pushed him out of the way. “This is better.”
“Haven’t you worn these before?” I asked.

“Not really. We didn’t change clothes at all in the cells. We didn’t want to change in front of each other like that”, Sangyeon said. “We got to shower the last day we were there and change so we would be fresh and clean for you.”
“I fucking hate showers”, Eric sighed and fixed his hair.
“Poor kitty”, I pouted and messed his hair up.
He glared at me and I was scared that I had triggered him somehow.
“Stop it”, he whined childlishy and fixed his hair again.
I could see a faint tint of red on his cheeks.
Seems like he liked the nickname.
They got to eat and then walk to their rooms. Jaehyun stayed.
“Why aren’t you going to bed?” I asked.
“I’m scared”, he admitted. “It’s a new place and somewhat new people.”
“I understand that. But as soon as you wake up you can go watch TV or something. It’ll be okay, Jaehyun.”
“Yeah...I guess so…goodnight, Y/N, thank you for saving us. We would be dead without you.”

I had taken the underbunk in our room. I had started changing sheets as the others made their beds ready.
"I like her", I said suddenly, breaking the silence.
"I do too", Kevin said. "She's hot."
"Do you mind?" Younghoon scoffed. "She's our owner, be respectful!"
"I agree with the puppy", I said and fluffed ny pillow.
"I am not a puppy!"
"Whatever. But guys, we're the predators, right"
"I think so", Eric said. "We're the stronger ones...except Sangyeon."
"Its our duty to protect the others and especially Y/N. She saved us and is now our owner."
The other nodded.

Clarent Saga: Chronicles
Based on my work on Saga of the Jewels, I've been hired by an indie game developer to write the novel for their 'novel + turn-based battles' game which is in Early Access on Steam. Of course, a 'novel + turn based battles' is a terrible idea for a game, which is why no other games like this exist, but hey, the developer is paying me. And if something's worth doing at all, it's worth doing as well as possible, so I am going to give this project my very best shot and try to make it as good as it can be. So if you read this, please give me feedback on the story to help me make it as good as it can be! Please note, for this story I have been given a pre-existent set of characters, character back-story sketches and a rough plot to work with. I also have to insert random battles into the narrative, have set characters appear in a certain order, and have the party fight fixed bosses in a certain order, all at fixed points! Please also note that this is a first draft. I will be editing and re-working this in the future and re-posting it. But I need helpful feedback, if anyone can give it. You can also find the game version of this on Steam by searching there for 'Clarent Saga: Chronicles'.
