*Melanie's POV*

It's been a few hours and I haven't seen Jane since our fight. It was weird, especially since when she's done with hunting she comes straight back to me....

I decided to go see if she was alright.

I knocked on her door gently and waited a moment before going in. When I entered, I saw that her bedroom was empty except for a folded piece of paper on her pillow.

I picked it up and gently unfolded it. When I did, I saw it was a note. I began to read it...

My Siren,

I am oh so deeply in love with you, and it pains me to do this, but I'm afraid business has called me back to Voltera. I do not know when I'll be back, it might be many moons until I return to you. Please do not be sad.

Love,

Jane

I dropped the note on the floor and sat in the bed. I could feel the venom fill my eyes but the tears wouldn't fall.

My Jane left me, and I didn't even get to say goodbye and tell her I loved her in person...

"Mel?" I looked up to see Josie standing in the doorway.

"She left Josie, she.... she left me." I said, looking down.

"Oh Mel..." she said, wrapping her arms around me. "It's going to be alright, you'll see her again soon."

"She... she said in her letter that she wouldn't b-be back anytime soon." I wailed our in despair. I could feel the mental and physical pain in what happens when you're separated from your mate. I didn't like this feeling one bit.

"Shhh, it's alright sweetheart. How about we go hunt, to take your mind off it."

"No Josie! You wouldn't understand! You don't have a mate!" I said, pushing away from her and speeding to my room. I slammed the door and locked it, not wanting anyone to bother me.

I felt all these negative emotions inside me, it just hurt...

Like a lot...

I wish I could cry right now, at least that would have made me feel a bit better. I got my phone and opened it up, looking through the contacts before finally finding the one I was looking for.

I pressed the call button and waited for her to answer.

"Hello?"

"Hey Alice, could you come down here?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

"Yeah, of course. I'll be there by tomorrow."

"Thanks." I said before ending the call. I then payed down, putting a pillow on my face. I felt utterly useless right now. And I hated it because I was usually an independent person.

God, why did we have to have that fight?....
