*Jane's POV*

After that Sadie girl had finally left, it was just Melanie and I. We were laying on her bed, cuddling a bit, as I thought about a few things.

"What are you thinking about?" Melanie asked, drawing my attention to her.

"Nothing." I lied. She gave me a look, basically telling me that she didn't believe it. I sighed a bit and ran my fingers through her hair. "Melanie, I love you."

"And I love you as well." She said, leaning on me a bit more. I smiled slightly but it quickly went away.

"Mel, when I leave after this week, who knows when we'll see each other again."

"We'll work it out love." She said, intertwining our hands.

"Yes, we will. That is why I am offering you a spot on the Volturi." When I said that, her smile immediately dropped as she took her hand away from mine.

"I already told you Jane, that I don't want anything to do with that!" She said, huffing in annoyance.

"But mio amore, think about it! We won't be able to see each other in weeks, months even! Maybe even years! And you and I both know that not only will it hurt mentally but it will hurt physically."

"Then you can stay here with me."

"I can't leave my brother Melanie! That's why I want you to come with me!"

"Well I can't leave my family either Jane!" After she said that we stared at each other for a while, not saying another word. I then looked away from her, getting up. "Jane, where are you going?" She asked but I didn't answer her.

I entered my room, closing and locking the door. I sat on the bed gracefully and stared at the wall.

Was it so wrong of me for wanting my mate to join my coven? Why did she have to be so stubborn!? I just don't get it!

I hugged a bit as I let my hair fall down. My hair had stayed the same length for centuries, reaching just past my shoulders. It wasn't as long as Melanie's though.

I sighed slightly and gracefully laid on my back, staring at the ceiling. I closed my eyes and focused on the sounds of the nearby city, trying to listen for anybody that could be a possible target for my meal.

When I opened my eyes I got up and opened the window, hopping down it. I then sped off into the city, following the voice of an elderly drunken man that I could stick my fangs into.

*Melanie's POV*

When she left the room, I sighed, sitting on my bed. I love Jane, don't get me wrong there, but I also love my coven. And I also loved my friends, I knew they were going to die eventually but still.

I then heard a knock on my door and David's head peaked out. "Hey little sis, I heard yelling. What's up?" He asked. I shrugged a bit, not looking at him. Instead I just stared out my window. He sighed and closed the door, sitting next to me. "Mel, what's wrong?"

"Jane." I said.

"Jane?"

"Jane." I then looked at him. "She wants me to join the Volturi but I can't leave you guys! Besides, I don't want to drink humans. I am perfectly comfortable with the lifestyle I'm living in as of now."

"Oh, ok." He said. "Have you two trailed talking it out?" I nodded slightly and he sighed again, standing up. "You'll figure out what to do soon. Don't fret Mel." And with that he sped off. I rolled my eyes and went back to staring outside my window.

And of course it started raining.
