*Melanie's POV*

I stared at the clock intently, watching as the minutes passed by.

3:00 a.m.

3:01 a.m.

3:02 a.m.

3:03 a.m.

By this point I was done and laid on my bed, staring at the ceiling. It sucked that Vampires couldn't sleep honestly. The closest thing we could get to tired was being relaxed, and I was in no way relaxed.

Today was when Jane was supposed to come and visit for a week, and I was just to anxious for her to get here. Of course, the airport doesn't open until 6:00 a.m. so I'm going to have to wait for at least 3 whole hours.

I sighed, deciding to go back to the clock to see how many minutes had passed by.

3:05 a.m.

"Ugh, at this rate it's going to be forever until I see her again!" I complained, laying back on my bed. I heard a chuckle from the doorway and rolled my eyes. "Hello Josie." I said, not even having to look at her to know who she was.

"Hey Mel." She said, sitting next to her.

Melanie sighed. "I wish Jane was here."

"I know ya do. Even though I don't..." she muttered the last part quieter but I heard.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked, sitting up.

"She just scares me is all. And she's a bit sadistic."

"Well yeah, but I like that about her." I said, laying back down. "It gives her fire, ya know?"

"I can give her more fire." She said, making a small flame appear in her hand. I rolled my golden eyes.

"Quit it you." I said, making her put the flames out. We started giggling madly as we continued to talk.

*Jane's POV*

I was currently on a private jet, flying to San Diego, California. It would take a while though but the trip was worth it if I get to see Melanie again. I would do anything for her.

And I just might could convince her to join the Volturi. I could picture it now, her with ruby red eyes. It would make her so beautiful, not that she isn't right now.

I sighed as I read an old book called Common Sense by Thomas Paine. It was a very good book, at least for a humans standards anyways. It kept my mind occupied from feeding.

After several hours, we finally arrived. I sighed and got up, putting the book away. I looked over myself. Ark said to wear normal human clothes to look less suspicious so I did, wearing a plain white t-shirt and black jeans. Simple but cute. I kept my hair up in a bun though and wore regular black shoes.

When I stepped out of the private jet my throat started to burn, signifying I needed to feed. I sighed, knowing that food will have to come first. When no one was looking I zoomed out if the airport and into town. I waited inside an ally way next to a bar, waiting for someone to come out.

When someone did, I beckoned them over. I could tell he was drunk, that was for sure. I immediately sank my fangs into him. Usually I would use my powers but there were way to many people.

After I was done I looked over myself. Luckily, I didn't get any blood on my shirt. I then looked at my watch, seeing it was around 10 in the morning. I sighed, deciding to catch a car or something like that. Melanie has given me her address so when I finally did catch a cab I told the driver the address.

He looked at me funny because of my red eyes but I just glared at him, making him look away immediately.

It took a while to get there since she lived in the mountains but when we did I paid the driver and immediately hopped out. When he was gone-gone I rushed to the door and knocked on it, waiting for someone to answer.
