*Melanie's POV*

Josie and I had just finished hunting. I was walking back to my room when I heard someone rummaging through my suitcase. And I suppose they had heard me too because they stopped. I tip-toed to my door and after a moment or so I slammed the door open, just to see that no one was in there. I furrowed my eyebrows but brushed it off, not thinking anything of it.

I closed the door behind me, going to my suitcase that was open. I looked through it, making sure everything was still there. I sighed in relief when I saw that my camera was still safe. This baby cost me a whopping $150, no way in hell was I losing it.

I looked through the photos, seeing pictures of landscapes, people, animals, etc. I smiled at the memories. Some of the people have passed on since I bought it in the 1940's, but I knew they lived great lives. Sometimes, I wondered what it was like to die. Was there a Heaven and Hell? Or a Elysium and Taturas? Or was there just nothing at all?

My thoughts got cut off by a light knock. I rushed to the door, opening it. When I did, I saw it was Clarisse. "Bonjour Melanie." She said, walking in.

"Hey." I responded, closing the door. "Hey, did you see someone enter my room while I was gone?" I asked.

"Yes. It was the blonde girl, your mate. Uh... Janis?" She asked, me rolling my eyes knowing who she was talking about.

"Her name's Jane. And of course she came into my room while I was away." I muttered, laying on my bed. Clarisse sat next to me, fiddling with my hair.

"Well if I knew that you wouldn't be happy with that I would have shooed her off."

"It's fine." I murmured. "Did she say why she wanted me?"

"Non, she just asked where you were and I answered, saying that you were with Josie."

I sighed and nodded. She continued talking to me for a while before going back to David. I stared at the ceiling, lost in thought. The sun was almost setting when I heard a knock on my door. I got up once more, expecting it to be Clarisse, but it was Jane. I huffed, pursing my lips a bit. "What do you want?"

"Follow me. And get your camera also." She said. I gave her a confused look but did so anyways. After I did, she grabbed my hand and pulled me to wherever.

After what felt like seconds, which probably was due to our speed, we got to a cliff. I looked around, taking in the beautiful sight. The sky was a perfect ombré of pink, purple, and orange. It was honestly breathtaking....

"Are you going to take pictures or...?" Jane's voice interrupted my thoughts. I nodded, taking my camera and positioning it at a perfect angle before taking the first photo. I must have taken 20 photos because before I knew it, the sun was gone and it was now nighttime.

I looked through the camera roll, looking at the pictures of the sunset. I then looked at Jane, who was staring at me. I wasn't completely sure but I had a feeling that she was staring at me the whole time we were up here.

"Thank you." I said. "For, you know, showing me the sunset. It honestly was breathtaking."

"You're welcome." She said, taking my hand in her's and kissing it. If I could've, I would have blushed. I quickly took my hand back though, looking away.

"I, um, think we started off on the wrong foot." I said, after a minute or two of silence. I held out my hand. "My name is Melanie Nightshade."

She chuckled lightly, taking my hand. "And my name is Jane Volturi, il mio amore."
