《rick grimes x reader》part eight: heading off.

I go into the house in a hurry. In a hurry to get away from this feeling. What Sasha said hurt but i have no time to think about this right now. Do i leave without saying goodbye to Ty and the girls upstairs? I stood behind the door and leaned against it, processing with what i'm about to do. Maybe i should leave without a word. But which way will i go?

You can hear Sasha calling your name from outside but you can't bare to talk to her again. Words hurt.

———————————

Ty walks down the stairs and sees you grabbing your stuff quickly. He looks at you with his confused eyes whilst holding the girls' hands.

Ty: "y/n?" he questions with a worrying face.

y/n: "I love you Ty." You walk past Ty and open the door with an emotionless face.

Sasha: "oh y/n, don't be stupid for christ sake!" she shouts with her arms in the air.

Ty steps outside and follows me before letting go of the girls hands.

Mika: "Where is y/n going?" she asks as she tugs at Ty's t-shirt.

Ty: "Can you stay here for me with Sasha whilst i go and check if they're okay? Sasha will keep you safe, i promise." he says whilst forcing a smile.

I pick up my pace from walking. I cant bare to look at Ty in the eyes and tell him i'm going my separate way.

Ty: "y/n! hey c'mon, what did she say now huh?"

y/n: "I'm leaving Ty. I don't want to be here anymore." You say whilst still walking towards the woodlands beside the house.

You turn around and say: "I've been two days into this. TWO. And i'm already leaving. I guess i really am like m-"

Ty: "Don't you dare finish that sentence." he says whilst shaking his head with tears in his eyes.

y/n: "It's the truth, isn't it. Thats how i got into that stupid fucking crash before this all happened. You guys told me that i was just like her. Why would you have said such a thing Ty?" you say with tears forming into your eyes.

Ty: "I never meant it y/n, okay? I'm sorry. Now can we just go back inside and talk this through. Maybe you'll meet some better people at the camp. It's a chance for reali-"

y/n: "No Ty. Just...stop. I can't with you guys. Not anymore. You've driven me to the edge. I just need to be alone, please."

Ty walks towards you and continues to follow your direction but you quickly turn and run off into the woods with tears streaming down your face. But he...stops. He's never the one to give up usually.

————————————

This is it. This is my new journey to life. I won't stop running. Ever. Anything to just get away from this. Maybe this independence i've suddenly gathered will help. At least i think.

The relief i felt when i walked away from that negativity was undeniably amazing. But...where do i go from here? I hope theirs a map packed in this huge backpack. Did i take too much? Oh well. It's on them now. However, i do feel bad for not saying goodbye to Mika and Lizzie, maybe i'll see them in another life. But am i giving up too easily?...

————————————

You stop running and look around you. Not a zombie in sight luckily. At least, that's what i think they are. But i'm just surrounded by leaves. Brown, old, crunchy leaves. Now that's Spring for you i guess. The leaves could also come in handy with my prey too.

I sit down and open my bag eagerly. I hope there are some useful things packed.

I dig inside and find some helpful supplies. Food, water, spare clothes (that are fortunately Ty's), weapons and ... A FUCKING MAP. Is it my lucky day or what? But then i wondered, do Sasha and Ty need this?

Pft, nope. They're going to that stupid camp. Maybe it is a 'camp for good people' but ... they're strangers. And one thing i've learnt in life is to not trust so easily, or ... maybe that's just me having 'trust issues'. Oh well. I'm here. Alone. Just me. And maybe ... that's just what i need.

You start scanning the map. You were always good at geography in school. It wasn't too hard yet it wasn't too easy. Now it's just the decision of choosing a place on the map that's somehow close enough to walk there in a short amount of time. How hard can it be? Choosing a place that may or may not be safe. Hmm.

———————————

A few minutes pass as you stare into the map. Speedily running your finger over on each place, you finally come to a decision. You then get out your knife from your bag and keep it in your right hand. Dad always taught us kids to keep more valuable things in our strongest hand. I guess what he taught us did come in handy. I hope Ty and Sash remember too, he really helped and it looks like we needed it.

I stood up and was on my feet again. How hard can this be? Just me in a zombie apocalypse with no one but my backpack. Great. Nice work y/n.

A couple of minutes pass and you hear a strange sound. A crunch. A loud one. Prey? Zombie?! ...human?

I scan the area with my quick darting eyes and see nothing. Nothing at all. I'm not usually the one to get shaken up but with all these thoughts going through my head, i just can't help it. Anything could be out here.

Picking up my pace slightly, i quicken. Looking past my shoulder every 5 seconds. If it is a zombie, am i really ready to kill it? I mean, is my knife sharp enough at least? And easy kill would just be in the head but, the stomach is also a easier shot i guess?

Dad always taught us to aim for the head on our prey. It kills things quicker. Easier. And, it's painless.

————————————

Another crunch of a leaf. From behind me, again. I look past my shoulder once more and bump into a large object in front of me. I fall to the ground and shake it off and look up to see:

Fuck.
