Chester and I were quiet for the first part of our walk. It was clear to him that Beck and I had just had some sort of deep conversation, and I wasn't sure that he knew how to start talking in comparison. We passed by most of the compound I had already seen, and then took a turn, down a street that I had never run with Cody, and hadn't explored.

It was weird, I had been living here for a while now, and have yet to explore really, other than the one time when I had thought I was lost, and ended up meeting Evan. Everything had just been so busy, from being injured and having to sit on the couch, and make sure it didn't get infected, to Mabel being tied up, and I turning away from her.

We took another turn and over top of a few trees that still managed to block most of the building, I saw a church tower, complete with a bell and everything.

"Is that where we're going?" I asked, breaking the silence.

Chester looked over at me and smiled, "No, but I do have something to show you. That's not until later though," he shoved his hands into his pocket, "I know you've got some questions, and I can't promise that I'll be able to answer them, but I will try," he looked down at me, "And before you ask, no I will not be your boyfriend. I mean, you're gorgeous and all but not my type," he said, in an attempt to lighten the mood.

I laughed, and knocked my shoulder into his, "Darn, I was so hoping... oh well, I guess I'll just be an old maid," I teased.

Chester grinned at me and then we both fell silent again, prepping up for the conversation ahead. As we rounded another corner, I looked around while I asked the question I had been meaning to ask for a while, "So. You guys told Mabel and I we would have a house... whatever happened to that?" I kicked a pebble on the road, and watched as it bounced one... two.. four times before coming to a stop against a curb.

Chester nodded, like he was considering my question before he started to speak, "Well, it's been done for about a week now..." he saw my expression and quickly went on, "I know, I know. But they guys like having you in the house, and I kind of wanted to see if Mabel was done with her shit. I'm not sorry we didn't tell you about the house Kodi, because if we hadn't, you could very well be dead."

I looked at him in surprise, "You guys don't mind me taking up an extra room?"

"Well, sweetie, we can't mind you taking up a room when in reality you take up this tiny ass corner of a room. But no, Kodi, we love having you around the house. Believe it or not Cody's been being nicer, since you've joined the house."

I meant to reply, but just then a little girl with blond pigtails and blue eyes ran over to us, chasing after a baseball. I picked it up as it rolled to my feet, and crouched down as she approached.

"Hi, I'm Kodi," I said, making my voice cheerful and light, "What's your name?"

The girl blushed and looked up to Chester, whatever he did must have given her a little bit of trust because she looked back to me and pressed her hands flat on her thighs, rocking on her heels, "I'm Abby," she all but whispered, "I'm this many," she added, holding up her hand with all five fingers up.

"That's a very pretty name," I said, and then looked down at the baseball, before looking back to her, "Does this belong to you?"

Abby looked from me, to the ball, and then back again, "No," she said, finally, "It's my brothers," she said and then turned around to point over at a guy, who looked about my age.

He was standing on the sidewalk, hands on his hips as he watched us with an easy smile.

"...was playing catch with me," I heard the last bit of Abby's sentence but it didn't take me very long to piece was she had said together.

"Well that's very nice of him," I offered her the ball, "maybe later I'll come back and play some more catch with you?" I said, making it sound like it would be a dream come true to play with her.

Her little blue eyes lit up, and she nodded, a grin broke loose on her lips and I all but died from adorableness, "Yes!" she said, before turning away and running over to her brother.

Her brother picked her up and swung her into his arms, hugging her dearly. He had the same blue eyes as his sister, but his hair was a few shades darker, while still being blonde. He waved, and as I stood up, Chester waved back.

"Do you know him?" I asked while we continued walking.

Chester threw me a grin, "Of course I do, Kodi, this is a small ass town, and when you aren't busy you get to know everyone."

I rolled my eyes, "I hope you don't swear around Abby."

He laughed, "Her brother would kick my ass if I did," he said, and then winked.

We rounded a few more corners before I had decided on another question, "What will happen to my sis... what will happen to Mabel?" I focused my eyes on the ground, not wanting to meet his own eyes.

"Well," he said, and then sighed, "First of all, everyone in the house will be there, with five people who don't have any feeling towards the matter. You will be asked to speak, Mabel will speak, and I will probably speak. I think Cody may speak about last night, what happened, why he restrained her, how she reacted, etcetera. Then they will talk it over and decide the best course of action," he paused before continuing, "I know it's going to be hard, but if they kick your sister out you can't just turn around and try to save her."

"What?" the word slipped out of my mouth so suddenly, that it took me a minute to realize I had been the one to say it.

Chester gazed over at me, "Kodi, you have this thing where unless someone is hurting you in that exact moment, you don't see them as bad," he explained, "and it's ten times worse when it comes to your sister."

I frowned, ready to argue, but the words didn't come out as I realized he was right.

He cleared his throat before continuing, "I'm not saying you have to hate her or anything, but she doesn't want you around. At least from what I can tell, I mean I could be wrong, but I think you would be so much better off without having to make sure she's about to cross you," Chester paused and stopped walking, turning his body so it faced mine, "We live in a world where you have to watch your every step, and you can't have people in your life that you can't trust with your back," he said.

I bit down on my lower lip as I nodded, "No, I mean, you're right," I pushed a stray strand of hair behind my ear, "She's toxic, and she's only going to poison me, if we continue down this path together."

Chester didn't agree nor disagree but it didn't matter, because I knew this was true. I can't keep defending her, or even sticking up for her. From now on she's on her own, and until she turns around and attempts to repair what has been so damaged, she will remain on her own. When it comes to me at the very least.

"Do you have anything else that you wanted to ask?" Chester prompted.

I thought about it, and before I had left the house, before the talk with Beck, I had been so full of questions, but now that those two had been answered I felt like anything else would just set me over the edge, from what? I wasn't sure, but it didn't seem to matter as my questions had all but ran away from me. I shook my head in reply, and looked around again.

Sometime during the last question we had managed to turn around, and were walking back towards the church tower, and then I smiled a little in hopes that maybe we would play ball with little Abby. Chester on the other hand, started to get a bit fidgety and he looked nervous.

I didn't want to call him out on it, but at the same time I knew he was holding something back that he wanted to talk about.

"Are you alright Chester?" I asked, stopping in my tracks, as I turned to look at him.

But instead of focusing on him, my eyes found themselves looking behind him and to two figures. They were the same guys from my first day, but today they were dressed like normal people, instead of what I could only describe as thugs. My first encounter with these guys had been when Chester kissed me, and I had found out that he was gay.

Back then they had worn mostly black, and they had looked ready to beat Chester up. Pure evil radiated off of them. But now, even when I was sure they were the same people, they seemed open and friendly. The one with the scar waved at me.

I looked at Chester, only to find he had already turned around, he was standing next to me in a relaxed manner, and I was at a lost for what the heck was going on.

"Hey Chester! Is that they girl from a few weeks ago?" the one without the scar said as they approached.

Chester grinned and nodded, "Yeah, but you can't have her, I promised another he could have her, and that I'd watch out for her."

Forgive me if my mind went to sex slave, I swear I tried to suppress it. I let out an unintentional laugh at the reminder of what I had once thought the boys were going to do with me. Chester looked at me funny, and I realized it sounded like I was laughing at him.

"Sorry, I'm Kodi," I said, without putting my hand out for them to shake.

The one with a scar nodded, "Look, we didn't mean to scare you that first day, we were just pretty mad with Chester," he shrugged, "We're sorry."

"Kodi, meet Adam and Benjamin. They were mad at me that day because of who I want to introduce you to. Abby's big brother? His name is Michael, and he's my boyfriend. Kissing you? That gave me some really solid confidence to come out. These two knuckleheads," he gestured to Adam and Benjamin, "Thought I was playing with Micheal's feelings and were going to kick my ass... kissing you didn't really help on that part, but it did end me up with confessing that I'd never really had a boyfriend and it was a little hard for me," he said, his cheeks turning pink.

Adam turned to me, being the one without the scar he had his hair cut down as small as he could get it, and while he was smiling, he still looked intimidating, "Yeah, so we didn't want to intrude but we figured we should come say sorry to you, you know, incase we scared you."

In my head all of the pieces to their story were still jumbled up, and I wasn't totally caught up, but I smiled anyways and nodded, "It's okay, there's been so much going on that I've hardly had time to ponder it," I said.

Chester and them talked for a few more minutes, and they made us promise to come hang out sometime, before they finally said their goodbyes. We continued walking towards where Abby was playing with her brother, Michael.

I slowed our walking as we got closer, "So, your boyfriend huh?"

Chester's eyes lit up and he grinned sheepishly, "He makes me happy Kodi," he said.

And it was as simple as that, I smiled back at him and when we got to the house, Chester took a few quicker steps forward and he hugged the blonde haired boy. Abby ran over to me and offered me the baseball.

"You come to play wiff me?"
