“Mom… Don’t worry. I’ve already dealt with this matter. Nothing like this will happen again in the future.” Lu Beichuan had never been close with Mother Lu. As such, there were some words and some actions that he truly couldn’t make himself do. He could only stiffly explain, but the more he explained in this matter, the angrier that Mother Lu got.

“Of course you would say that. The matter is already over. You’re a dignified big boss, and you didn’t even know about this kind of thing. What’s the point in having so many employees?! Please, don’t focus all of your attention and care on your company, your career, and your money. Look after your family!”

For lack of a better option, Lu Beichuan could only patiently nod. “Mom, I know.”

“You know? Take a look at what’s written here. This writing portrays me as a wicked mother-in-law that broke up a pair of lovers and Zhenzhen became the other woman that came between you and your true love! Have you reported these people to the police for making up these false rumors? Have the lawyers sent them letters yet?”

“Don’t worry, the Legal Department is handling it.”

“I’m warning you. You have to keep an eye on this matter. If I hear rumors about you and another woman again, you'll be forbidden from entering this home!”

After hearing those last words, Ye Zhen put away her unbridled smile and entered the room.

“Mom, why are you up? How are you feeling?”

As soon as Mother Lu saw Ye Zhen coming in, she immediately stopped talking and meaningfully looked at Lu Beichuan to have him take away the laptop.

“Even my bones feel soft after lying in bed for so long. I came out to walk around.” Mother Lu smiled as she pulled her away. She gestured with her eyes for Lu Beichuan to take the laptop and quickly leave. “What did you go out to buy?”

Ye Zhen smiled and took out a diamond necklace that she had specially bought for Mother Lu. “Mom, I specially picked out this necklace for you. I don’t know if you’ll like it or not.”

The necklace didn’t have an unrivalled style or anything, but Ye Zhen had meticulously chosen it. It should be something that suits Mother Lu.

As soon as Mother Lu saw it, she liked it too much to put it down. She had been married to Lu Shaoren for so many years, but all of the jewelry that she wore was bought by herself. With the exception of special anniversaries, practically no one would spend the time to carefully choose a gift for her.

“Like it. How could I not like it?!”

“It’s good as long as you like it.” Mother Lu treated her so well, so Ye Zhen thought there was nothing wrong with her being more filial to Mother Lu.

Ye Zhen’s thoughtfulness made Mother Lu elated, and she quickly tossed Lu Beichuan’s issue to the back of her head.

After dinner, Ye Zhen idly chatted with Mother Lu for a bit before returning to her room to rest. She brought Zhouzhou to her room to feed him milk after she showered.

Babies grew so quickly. In the short time of two days, Zhouzhou looked as if he had grown bigger. His skin was whiter, his eyes were bigger, darker, and brighter, his face was getting chubbier, and his sparse hair was getting longer. When this chubby baby was wrapped up in swaddling clothes, he looked like a flawless porcelain doll.

This was especially true when Ye Zhen teased him. He would laugh and grin while drooling.

Ye Zhen seemed disdainful of his drooling, and yet, she wiped away his drool with her fingers. Right after she had wiped his hand clean, the little brat put his hand back into his mouth.

“Don’t put your hand in your mouth!” Ye Zhen took his hand out of mouth and sternly said, “What did mom tell you last time? You’re not allowed to put your hand in your mouth. If you do that again, mom is going to smack your hand.”

Ye Zhen gently patted his hand a few times. She had thought this would intimidate him, but it only made him laugh happier.

As Ye Zhen held her baby, she was very troubled over this matter. It was truly a huge undertaking to raise a child. She couldn’t even get him to stop putting his hand in his mouth. As soon as she thought of her son talking, walking, weaning him off milk, eating, going to school, etc… she felt as if her head was going to explode.

Lu Beichuan had finished working in the study and pushed open the door to the bedroom. He saw how serious Ye Zhen looked while lecturing Zhouzhou to not put his hand in his mouth, but Zhouzhou only giggled at her and kept putting his hand back into his mouth.

Lu Beichuan couldn’t refrain from laughing. He took Zhouzhou from Ye Zhen and stuffed a pacifier into Zhouzhou’s mouth.

Zhouzhou stopped putting his hand into his mouth after getting the pacifier. As he focused on sucking on his pacifier, he eventually drifted off to sleep.

Ye Zhen whispered, “Did you have a tendency of sticking your hand into your mouth when you were a baby?”

“All little kids have bad habits. Just take your time to slowly correct them.” Lu Beichuan put the baby on the bed, took off his jacket, and prepared to go take a shower. “It’s getting late. You should go to sleep early.”

“Wait, I have something to tell you before going to bed.”

Lu Beichuan turned around and looked down on her. “What is it?”

“Regarding the spokesperson for your company…” Ye Zhen, who was looking up at Lu Beichuan, suddenly felt a bit scared. “Have you heard of Meng Jie?”

“Earn a lot of money? Investment ideas?” Astonishment flashed through Lu Beichuan’s eyes. Soon after, he indulgently smiled and nodded. “How about we sit down to talk?”

“Sure!”

The two of them sat down on the sofa.

Even you can’t guarantee that all venture projects will be successful. I counted it up.
