《The Chapstick Girl》What Is Your Problem

Amber's pov:

"Honestly, it could have been worse." Damien says, opening the door for me as we walk out of the nurses office.

I shoot him a small glare, "Worse? Liam FAINTED."

It feels like only a couple seconds ago that Damien kissed me, causing Liam to freak out and completely PASS OUT on the floor of the library.

We would be lying if we said we didn't think that he faked it because in all honestly, I thought he was just being... well... Liam.

But after two full water bottles, a slap in the face, and a threat that we would tell Julie about "Zaddy" did we realize that he was not faking it.

In fact, he was out, out.

You know, I came up with a lot of scenarios last night on how Liam would react when I tell him that Damien and I are now dating.

And by a lot, I mean A LOT.

For instance, I imagined him freaking out, running to the principles office, grabbing the speaker that is used for the morning announcements, and then proceeding to over share his excitement for us while we hide ourselves in a bathroom stall out of embarrassment.

Then of course, he would get suspended for about 4 days, fall behind in all his classes, he would come to my house to complain about our Science teacher and then probably almost burn down my kitchen... again.

...

For some reason, that seemed more realistic than just fainting.

But safe to say, the school nurse, the librarian, and the vice principal were not amused.

"-...And? The only thing I'm surprised about is that he lasted a whole 15 seconds before going down, that's way longer than I thought he would last." He snickers.

"Oh? So you wanted him to faint? Is that why you kissed me?" I nudge his arm.

"I mean, that wasn't the only reason I wanted to kiss you." He turns towards me, nibbling on his bottom lip.

"Gosh, who knew you could be such a flirt."

"Don't pretend you don't like it though." He says, before leaning his face closer to mine in attempt to steal a quick kiss, but I push his lips away with my finger.

"Nuh-Uh, you don't get any kisses until Liam wakes up." I poke his chest, causing a pout to make its way onto his lips.

"But-... why?!" He whines, grabbing my finger that was poking his chest to interlock our hands together.

"Because that's what you get for making Liam faint, you couldn't have told him any other way?" I squint my eyes at him accusingly.

He puts his free hand that wasn't holding mine over his chest before sighing dramatically at my comment.

...

He's lucky he's cute.

"Okay hold on, you were the one who was too scared to tell him in the first place, so really you can't be mad at me for telling him my way." He says, matter of factly.

I know we are dating now but that is not stopping me from throwing him out the window.

"Yeah but I didn't-... you are annoying." I scrunch my nose at him, to which he bops it.

"Sorry baby." He swings our hands back and forth as I blush at the nickname.

I don't think I will ever be able to get used to hearing that.

Well, at least without turning into a human tomato.

"Class is about to start soon." I turn towards him after taking a glance at the clock on the wall.

He groans, "I say we skip."

"You say that everyday."

"But this time I really mean it, we can go to McDonald's and get milkshakes!" He beams, giving me a toothy grin.

"Are you sure you want to go because you want a milkshake or is this just an excuse to add on to your power ranger collection?" I snicker.

"Absolutely not! For your information, I now have the whole collection, so haha!"

"I don't think that's anything to brag about-..."

"What is that? I can't hear you over the sound of your j-e-a-l-o-u-s-y."

"Me? Jealous? Over your power ranger collection that was made for five year olds?"

"It actually says ages seven and older on the package, so nice try."

As I was about to respond back, the sound of the bell goes off signaling it was time to go to class.

"This isn't over..." he points at his eyes with two fingers before pointing them at me, signaling that he was watching me.

"I didn't think so." I tease.

We approach my classroom and I turn towards him to say goodbye, but instead I end up laughing to myself.

He had the same pouty expression as before, and with his finger, he points towards his lips, "So you really aren't going to give me a kiss?"

I laugh as I pull him in to a small hug, to which he gladly accepts, "Nope."

"Wow-... you are mean."

"Oh I'm mean?" I giggle as he nods his head.

"Yes, what could I possibly do to get a kiss before you leave?" He gives me his famous puppy eyes...

But I won't fall for them.

At least not this time.

"How about you," I take his hand in mine and cross his pointer and middle finger together, "cross your fingers and hope Liam wakes up soon." I give him a cheeky grin before running off into my classroom.

"What-... AMBER!!!!!!!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I'm scared to ask." I turn towards Julie who had her arms crossed, looking back and forth between the nurses office and me.
"Heh-... you know... how Liam is." I laugh nervously as she gives me one of those "I don't believe you" looks.
"Cmon, something must have happened, plus, I need to find out before Ashton somehow finds out or my head," she looks at me dead in the eye, "will be on a silver platter."
"Okay one, how could he possibly find out, and two, why would your head be on a silver platter?"
"Because one," she mimics me, "Ashton has a lot of friends who still go here, and two, Ashton is crazy."
"Define crazy..."
"Crazy as in, he will definitely overthink the whole situation and freak out. If he finds out one of us got sent to the nurses he will think I somehow got hurt, even if I tell him I didn't, and he will drive all the way here and personally make sure I was okay before fighting someone. I swear, the guy is CRAZY."
I couldn't help but burst into a fit of laughter by her words, "sorry," I say between breathes, "I don't mean to laugh but-..."
"No I get it, if you are one of those see it to believe it kind of people, then you will not be disappointed."
Again, I laugh at her statement while grabbing my lunch bag from my locker.
"Damien told me that him and Luke made up, I was really glad to here that." I say, shutting my locker while turning towards her.
She nods her head, "I agree, not going to lie I had a nervous feeling in my stomach while arriving to school. Arguments are just the worst, and I knew things would have been awkward if they didn't make up."
"Oh gosh, I don't even want to think about it. Those two are super close, I can't even imagine a lunch where they aren't talking about boxing."
Julie laughs, "But now that you mention it, I guess it would be kind of nice to sit through a lunch without wanting to cut my ear off from the constant talk about boxing."
"I can assume by that statement that you probably had it bad last year when all the boys were at school, I can see them going on and on about it-..."
"Nightmares. Those lunches gave me nightmares." Julie groans, running a hand down her face.
I giggle as I follow behind her sulking figure, we both make our way towards the cafeteria, picking up Gianna on the way.
"Hey G-..."
"Annabelle better not sit with us today or I will in fact be expelled before you can even spell it out."' Gianna interrupts Julie while cracking her knuckles.
If I'm being one hundred percent honest, I am scared of Gianna.
But I think it's okay since everyone is.
...
Especially her own boyfriend.
"And what will Jake say once he gets the call that his girlfriend got expelled and won't be able to graduate and go to college with him?" Julie teases.
Gianna runs her fingers through her hair, "Oh I will graduate, I think the real question is if the school plans on having a principal for next year or not."
For reasons involving our safety...
Julie and I take a step away from Gianna.
"I don't know what I just walked into but it doesn't look good." Ally comes up from behind us, keeping a distance from Gianna like Julie and I did.
Safe move Ally, safe move.
"What? They always tell us to take charge of our future, I was doing just that." Gianna chuckles to herself, twirling her pencil in her hand.
In any other case, it's just a pencil. A small, harmless utensil used for writing.
But in Gianna's hand?
Now that is what you call a weapon.
"I don't think murder is what they meant but since you are my friend I guess I will have no choice but to cover your trace." Julie sighs defeatedly.
"Thanks bestie, I would do the same for you." Gianna puts a hand on Julie's shoulder and smiles cheekily.
"Sadly I know," Julie glances at Gianna before shivering, "and it's scares me that I think you would enjoy it."
"Now you aren't wrong-.. ABSOLUTELY NOT!" Gianna groans, we all turn our heads to where Gianna was looking to see Annabelle sitting at our table.
"She seriously thinks it's okay to sit with us after all that she did?" Ally mutters under her breath, causing the rest of us to nod our heads in agreement.
Before we reach our table, Julie turns towards us, "As much as I want show her a piece of my mind, I think we should calmly explain-..."
"I'M DOING IT."
"What-... no, GIANNA-..."
"Listen HERE BITCH-..." Gianna pushes through Julie, pointing a finger at Annabelle.
The surrounding tables of students turn towards our direction with widened eyes as they watch Gianna slam her hands on the table in front of where Annabelle was sitting.
She looks up from her phone with an unamused reaction, and I just know that it ticked off Gianna even more.
"Is there a problem?" Annabelle asks, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Funny that you should ask, I actually do have one." Gianna humorously chuckles to herself, her hands scrunched into fists.
"And what may that be?" Annabelle lays the side of her face into the palm of her hand, watching Gianna with a look of boredom on her face.
"I'm glad you asked, my problem has to do with you sitting here. You weren't invited." Gianna looks Annabelle up and down with an annoyed expression.
"That seems like a you problem, doesn't it?" Annabelle rolls her eyes.
I look over at Julie as she grabs my arm and forces me to take a few steps away from a fuming Gianna.
I would take pity on whoever was on the other end of Gianna's anger, but for Annabelle, I feel nothing.
She lied about Damien telling her about his sister.
She caused an argument between Luke and Damien.
She was the reason Damien cried and blamed himself for all that went down.
And she thinks that she can come back the next day and act like nothing has happened.
So yes, I am just as angry as Gianna and don't feel any pity towards her.
"No, not really. You see, I just don't think you understand what happened so I am going to say it in a way that your brain can maybe understand. YOU messed with my friends. Here you are, sitting with a shitty attitude and disgusting personality thinking that you are better than everyone else when you are not. You are a pathetic excuse of a person and nothing but a dirty liar. Tell us again what Damien told you, huh? You said he told you something, am I right? Should I go get him? Taking advantage of someone who can barely speak for themself isn't cool, it just makes you a cold hearted b*tch."
My jaw drops from Gianna's words.
It was hard to miss the many audible gasps from the students that were sitting around us. But I wasn't able to pay attention to those as I was too busy staring at Gianna with complete awe.
If I had at least half the confidence that she had, I would feel on top of the world.
Annabelle's cold expression turns dark as she glares at Gianna with a burning anger.
"You-... I-..."
"What? Cat got your tongue?" Gianna smirks, putting a hand on her hip.
Annabelle does nothing but give her a dirty look, probably intimated by the number of stares that were on her.
Gianna points at Annabelle before pointing at a different direction, " Now if you would excuse me, I would really appreciate it if you get the f*ck away from my table."
