Amber's pov:

"M-Mom?" Damien stutters.

I feel my stomach drop at his words.

His WHAT now??!!

Mother?!!

Oh no...

Oh no... Oh no... OH NO!!!

Could she have seen...

There was a moment of silence after his words as we are both just frozen in our seats.

Even my very own mind decided to go against me. It might as well be completely shut off because there was nothing processing in my head.

Which is weird because usually when I am in...

I'm going to say difficult but weird...situations like this, my thoughts tend to be everywhere, but now...?

Nothing.

I am getting NO connection, as in someone just turned the WiFi off in this house of Amber.

I'm telling you, there are noooooo bars.

And I don't know if it's because his mom caught us almost kissing or the fact that we almost kissed again in general.

All I know is that my heart just did an Olympic dive out of my body, because I think I just felt it stop beating.

There was a knock on the window, pulling us out of our thoughts as we both come to realization, and Damien, being quick on his feet, quickly rolls the window down, a small tint of red making its way onto his cheeks.

"I thought this was your car! Your father and I just went out for dinner in that restaurant over there..." she points at a small restaurant to the right, causing us to simultaneously turn our heads in that direction.

I didn't even notice where Damien ended up pulling over when we were talking about the whole lunch incident, but what's the chance that his PARENTS would be in the same place at the...

Same.

Exact.

Time.

"Oh... really?" Damien rubs the back of his neck nervously, turning back towards her from looking at the restaurant.

But I on the other hand couldn't even bring myself to look at her, or even Damien for that matter.

Probably because of the fact that I can't even get my HEAD to wrap around the fact that Damien and I almost kissed... AGAIN!!!

And in front of his own mother!!!

I can already imagine Liam rolling across the ground laughing as soon as he hears about this.

I'll never hear the end of it.

Well...

That is if he doesn't kill me at the first chance he gets from running away from him earlier.

"Yeah, well we thought it would be nice to try something different for a chance, plus, we were planning on heading over to see your sister. The restaurant seemed like a good idea since the hospital is only down the road from here."

Damien nods his, hearing his mother out before catching me by surprise and shamelessly putting his car in drive.

Now if I did that with my dad...

"Well it was nice talking to you mom, we gotta go-..."

"NOW hold on a second Damien Sean Black!" She says, crossing her arms over her chest at his rushed behavior, causing Damien to look over at her with his large doe eyes.

As in, his guilty but trying to look innocent eyes...

Huh...

His middle name is Sean.

That's one thing I didn't know about him-... oh wait that sounds creepy I should probably reword that-...

"Yes mom?" Damien says innocently, putting the car back in park.

"I want to meet whoever is in the car with you, you never-..." her words slowly fade out though as she stares at me with a look of confusion on her face.

But that is until her eyes suddenly widen in some sort of realization, and not going to lie, that make me a little nervous.

Within a second, a big smile forms on her face as she points at me, "YOU MUST be Amber-..."

"-...AND THIS IS AMBER. Who you NEVER met, or HEARD of before-..." Damien interrupts her but just like he did to her, he was cut off quickly.

"-... Oh my gosh Damien has TOLD ME so much-..."

"-... NO I didn't-..."

"-... about you!!! I don't even know where to begin-..."

"Mom!!" Damien whines, covering his face with his hands as his mom claps her hands excitedly together.

"Really? He's mentioned me before?" I say, deciding to tease Damien a little bit.

And it definitely worked because in the corner of my eye, I can see his head flip towards me with a glare in his eyes.

Hehe.

"Oh so many times dear-..."

"Okay!! Mom, we get it! I've mentioned her before, so can we please please please change the topic of discussion?" Damien whines, covering his reddened cheeks with his hands while looking down at the car floor.

His mom snickers as she reaches through the car window and ruffles his hair, getting it immediately pushed away in the process.

"Okay, okay I'll stop. But on a serious note," she reaches her hand towards me for a handshake, "as you know by now, I'm Damien's mother, nice to meet you."

I shake her hand while giving her a soft smile, "And as YOU probably know by now, I'm Amber."

She chuckles at my words, "I didn't mean to intrude on your little hangout, but may I ask how you ended up here?"

Damien lifts his head up at the question, a moment of silence passing by before saying, "Oh we are actually on our way to see Layla, we just had to pull in here real quick because-...uhh I thought I lost my phone... y-yeah my phone so I pulled over to make sure I h-had it... yeah."

His mom nods her head at his words, but I could tell from the way that she was looking at us that she was still a little bit suspicious.

She was going to say something else until she was interrupted by a voice shouting her name.

"What's taking so long? I was waiting in the car-... oh hey Damien." The guy says, who I guess to be Damien's father since I could instantly point out some of his facial features that were pretty similar to Damien's.

"Hey Dad, and BEFORE you say anything," Damien rushes, probably trying to avoid whatever played out with his mother, "This is Amber, and Amber this is my Dad."

"Nice to meet you." He says, holding out his hand for a handshake, just like Mrs.Black did.

I shake his hand, "Nice to meet you too."

I can only pray that my hands aren't sweaty from nervousness because that would be really embarrassing.

My eyes drift to Damien who's hand kept hovering over the gearshift, "Well if we are both heading to the same place, let's meet there and you can continue to talk to her so that we aren't just sitting around in this parking lot." Damien suggests, tightening his grip on the gearshift.

His mom catches his grip on the gearshift, a small smirk forming on her face before disappearing as soon as it came.

Wait a second!!!

SO THAT'S where Damien gets that!! It's always that same freakin smirk that disappears before doing something...

Evil.

"Why in such a rush? Afraid that we will embarrass you my sweet, little, baby boy-..."

"OKAY! See you there, BYE!!" Damien yells, putting his car in drive before pulling away from them. I could hear the sound of his parents loud laughing since the windows were down, causing a small chuckle to leave my lips.

"That was interesting." I couldn't help but say, looking at Damien as his nose was scrunched up, clearing embarrassed by his mothers previous words.

"I'm sorry about-...her..."

I cut him off, "What do you mean? I thought she was lovely." I giggle after hearing his loud sigh.

"I think you mean embarrassing." He whines, making me laugh.

"Oh come on, don't say that. I honestly think it was quite endearing, I see that she is someone who people get along with quite well.

Damien thinks for a second, "I mean, don't get me wrong, she really is an amazing mother and I love her to death...but at the same time she drives me crazy." Damien mutters the last part, glancing at me as I stay silent, thinking.

"But can I ask one thing though?" Damien glances at me for a second before nodding his head.

I take a deep breath, feeling my chest tighten at just the thought, "She mentioned that you've told her all about me, is that really true?"

Damien nervously bites down on his lip, contemplating his words before throwing me another quick glance.

"I may have mentioned how you saved me from getting kicked off the team, how my sister adores you, and how you became a really close friend to me... a few times." He answers shyly.

I'd be lying if I said my heart didn't do it's usual DOUBLE backflip when it came to Damien's soft words. If only he knew how much his words drove me crazy.

"Oh..." Is all that comes out out of my mouth as I look out the window. I take a few deep breathes to try and control my rapid beating heart.

"I-Is that okay with you?" Damien stutters.

Hearing his question, I quickly turn back towards him, "What do you mean? Of course it's okay with me, I was just curious." I say, watching as he lets out a sigh of relief.

No other words were said as we turn into the parking lot of the hospital. As soon as he parks the car, he turns it off and steps out, quickly rushing to my side to open the door for me before I even had the chance to take my seatbelt off.

"As always, thank you." I give him a shy smile, to which he returns.

Together, we walk towards the entrance of the hospital and towards the elevator, "Are you sure you don't want to wait for your parents before going in?" I ask once we are in the elevator.

Damien looks at me for a second before shaking his head, "They'll be fine, plus this will give us sometime to talk to my sister with just the three of us before my parents barge in. Not that I have anything against them, I just think my mom will definitely want to know more about you."

"I guess... that makes sense." I answer.

The door to the elevator opens and we both walk out, making the short walk to Layla's door. Damien knocks on the door about three times before we here a "come in!" from the other side.

We walk into the room to see Layla leaning back against the head board, reading a book. But as soon as she sees me, a shocked, but excited expression makes its way onto her face.

"Amber!!!" She shouts excitedly, putting the book down and holding out her arms for a hug.

With a goofy grin, I run towards her and accept her hug, not realizing till now how much I missed her.

"Wow, really feeling the love from over here." Damien jokes, trying to act upset. But looking over at him, I could see the corners of his lip tugging upwards, showing that he was trying to hide a smile.

"Shush, I see you like everyday." Layla says, sticking out her tongue at him, to which he does in return.

I let out a giggle at the two, watching them as they start their usual playful bickering, but that is until my eyes come across the book that Layla was reading.

"Hey you're reading one of the books from the series that I got you! How do you like them so far?" I ask.

They immediately stop their bickering and turn towards me, Layla looking down at the book before at me, a glimmer in her eyes.

"I love them!!! I can't seem to put them down, all I want to do is read them over, over, and over again!" She says, waving her arms in the air for extra affect, making both Damien and I laugh.

"Didn't I say that you should have spaced them out so that you wouldn't finish them too quickly?" Damien jokingly scolds, getting a small glare from Layla in return.

"And why would I do that-..." she is quickly interrupted by the sound of knocks at the door.

Already knowing who it was, I look over at Damien who was already looking at me. There were no words said as we both share the same "knowing" look with one another.

"You can come in!!" Layla says, before both the door opens and Mr. and Mrs. Black welcome themselves in.

I watch as Damien looks at them for a second before turning away with the same embarrassed expression as before.

I can't blame him.

I'd be the same way if my dad almost caught me...

Uhm...

You know...

About to kiss someone.

...

Anyways!

"Long time no see." Mrs. Black jokes, looking at both Damien and I.
