《The Chapstick Girl》Average Sized

Amber's pov:

For the five out of seven days of the week that we go to school, today was another one of those days.

But, at least it was Friday.

Which by the way....

Thank.

The.

Freakin.

Lord.

It's been three days since I helped fill the concession stand, but sadly, I couldn't attend yet another match.

It's like teachers purposely schedule tests on days that really don't work out for you the most.

Although I've never been the smartest person in my grade, spending all my time studying, it doesn't mean I don't care about my grades and put in the effort to do good.

I like to consider myself an achiever.

Not an over achiever or an under achiever, just an achiever.

I get good grades, there's just been times when...

Let's just say their is a thing known as... not my day.

But going back to why I couldn't attend my dad's match due to studying, to be honest, I felt really bad.

These sort of things mean so much to my dad.

I even went as far as to almost just bringing my whole entire binder of notes and just studying at the match...

Which now thinking, it probably would be almost impossible due to the noise levels and the cheering of the crowd.

Surprisingly though, my dad understood why I wouldn't be able to attend the match even before I had the chance to explain to him.

Actually, he's always been understanding like that.

Sometimes, I can't believe how I got so lucky to have such an amazing dad, I wouldn't trade him for the world.

Even if he is insane, aren't we all?

...

I have come to the understanding that I might be actually surrounding myself with insane people. Liam? My dad?

How I've made it this far, I shall never know.

But speaking of insane people, here comes one of them now.

"Heyyy stranger." Liam says, bumping into me playfully as he usually does, walking me to my homeroom which was coincidentally right next to his.

"You seem to be an a awfully good mood." I laugh as he grins.

"I am, wanna know why?"

"Do I wanna know why?"

"You do wanna know why."

"I do wanna know why?"

"Yes. You. Do. Don't. Confuse. Me." I laugh again, signaling him to continue.

"Guess what coach said!"

"What did my dad say?"

"Guess what he said!"

"What did he say?"

"Guess!!!!"

"I don't know just tell me!!" Again, he pulls out into a huge grin and stops walking, grabbing both of my shoulders.

"You know how our team is kinda split up, varsity or junior varsity depending on how good you were."

"Yeah..."

"Okay and you know how every new member basically starts off on the junior varsity team their first year...."

"Yeah...."

"WELL GUESS WHAT!!!"

"Again, just tell me-..."

"HE-...," he takes a deep breath, "said that I improved like no other and that he is putting me on varsity. He's putting me on varsity!!!" Liam says excitedly, jumping up and down as I stand there, shocked.

"Liam that's amazing!!" I say back, as excited as him once I recover from my shock.

Ever since Liam joined the team, he has non stop talked about how it was his dream to be on varsity.

Even though there was a high chance that he would be on it next year, because I got to admit, he was pretty good, and definitely stood out from the other new kids, I knew that getting varsity for only being his first year must have been surreal.

And I don't mean to bias because he is my best friend and all, but he deserves it more than anyone.

He earned it, constantly working hard over the summer, even when he felt tired or needed a break, he pushed himself past his limit.

Liam has always been like that though, passionate.

He works hard for what he wants.

If you want it, you gotta earn it.

"You know what this calls for right?" He says, grabbing my arm as we again start to walk towards our classrooms, just in time as the five minute bell goes off.

"What?" I ask.

"Frozen yogurt, my treat..." he sings, but I turn towards him and slightly frown.

"I'm sorry, I can't today, maybe tomorrow?" I question, as he nods.

"Sure, but what's the occasion? Secret date that I should know about?" He smirks as I blush slightly, pushing him away as he then laughs.

"Here you go again, obsessing over my nonexistent love life-..."

"What? I'm a curious man."

"Man?"

"Heck yeah, have you seen these?" He rolls up the sleeves of his shirt, catching the eyes of some of our peers.

Peers as in guys.

And Liam asks why I'm still single? I promise you, almost every single guy I've met who wasn't straight in this school has a crush on Liam.

It's not even funny!!

But other than me who is apparently oblivious when it comes to romance, Liam knows what he's doing...

And he enjoys it way too much.

"Wow, it's not like you end up showing your muscles in every, single conversation we have."

"You have to learn to appreciate."

I look at him then glance slightly downwards and smirk, "You're right, appreciate the little things-...."

"IT IS AVERAGE SIZE I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW." Suddenly, the hallway goes quiet as I quickly take a glance at all the confused stares around us.

"Great job, now everyone knows you have an average sized-..."

"Don't you dare finish that sentence." Liam slightly hides his face, but even after leaving him for my homeroom, I couldn't contain my giggles.

Offending my best friend's manhood...

This is a great start to a beautiful Friday morning.
