《Lost Fantasy-Life After Reincarnation (Arc 1)》Chapter 1

After spending a few days in this world, the boy had finally gotten used to his new identity. He now believes that he is Loganel. In order to keep living in this world, he had to throw away his original name and continue his life as Loganel since there might not even be a way for him to return to his original world.

However, he isn't missing his old world to be honest. In this world, he discovered that Loganel was actually the third child of the noble Ainzloft family, who was the lord of one of the more rural plots of land in the eastern part of the Royal Kingdom of Astra. The Ainzloft territory was separated from the central hub of the nation by a tall mountain range, causing its residence to be only able to purchase specialized goods brought by travelling merchant caravans once every three months.

Despite this small con, the life of those that reside on Ainzloft territory was peaceful. With the difficulties of living on a rather undeveloped region of Astra, the inhabitants are forced to depend on each other, therefore making crime a thing that only appears in legends. In addition, due to the management of Baron Alden Ainzloft, the father of Loganel Ainzloft, the area was able to thrive. Alden Ainzloft was the one that had negotiated for the merchant caravan to pass through the Ainzloft land, and in addition, he was also able to persuade those merchants of the nearby cities to purchase the products produced on his land. His actions were then able to engender a steady source of income, in which he often used for a special celebration every six months and have his cooks prepare a special feast to applaud the people for their hard work.

Due to this, the Ainzloft family's reputation was one that engender much respect amongst those that reside on their vast territory. Whenever Loganel were to leave the manor and walk around the nearby fields, the villagers that are working in their fields often stopped their labor and greeted him. Some even offered him food such as freshly baked bread occasionally.

In conclusion, life was good for Loganel. However, he does miss something about his old world, and that is the internet. In this world, the technological levels appear to be in the medieval Europe levels. However, oddly enough, there were some other rather advance hygienic items such as toilet paper. In this world, for entertainment, Logan would occasionally wander around in the nearby village. Even though the village kids had asked for him to play with them, he usually kindly declines. Being originally a man that was in his early twenties, Logan feels slightly ashamed for playing with kids since his mental maturity levels were already one of an adult.

However, once at home in the Ainzloft manor, he is required to interact with children. It appears that Logan has older siblings. They were twins that are two years older than him. The older of the two is Laurina, Logan's older sister, and the younger of the two is Redgilus, Logan's older brother. However, even though they were technically his "older" siblings, mentally, Logan is older than them by more than ten years. But, in order to conceal his true identity, he had to somehow pretend that he was a boy that was eight years of age. Therefore, everyday, Logan is always constantly in stress as he acts his age.

But, those days of acting might soon conclude, or rather, alleviate a bit.

"Tomorrow you two will be heading off to the Academy, aren't you," Logan's mother, Maria Ainzloft said at the dining table one day.

"Yes mother," Laurina replied with an etiquette that Logan had thought was impossible to be present in kids her age. However, it seems that Maria's guidance on the etiquette of the noble ways is successful in molding Laurina to a young girl worthy of the title of nobility. Laurina, inheriting the same beauty of her mother, was what one would imagine the daughters of nobles would act like, always calm and with a constant smile on her face.

She is well-behaved, always abiding by the rules that Maria had set for her. In addition, she was never the one to mingle in the play of the village boys, thinking that their play activities was unladylike and that it would dirty her clothes if she was to join them in doing so. That was the phrases that Logan had heard first hand from Laurina herself. One day, when the three siblings were returning home from taking an afternoon walk to and back from the village, they had encountered the village kids playing in a nearby creek. That was when Laurina said those words of hers.

"Do we have to go?" Redgilus asked as he yawned. Redgilus was the lazier one of the two. In fact, he might be one of the laziest in the family. He has this look on his face, as if he is constantly tired. In fact, his eyes were always as if he's about to fall asleep at anytime, even though he is awake. He was a kid that would give off an indolent aura, leading to those that see him to feel a sense of relaxation and a desire to fall asleep.

However, despite his lazy appearance, underneath that facade of his was a heart of determination. Logan remembers one time, when he was with Redgilus, who led him out of the manor and to the nearby trees, Redgilus had told him that they could see a special type of beetle that only shows up at night. That was why Redgilus waited from after dinner, all the way until midnight. He was just sitting there by the trees, waiting and waiting. He wasn't sleeping either. That Redgilus that Logan had saw was the most awake and focused that he had ever seen Redgilus be.

"Why," Alden Ainzloft asked as he carefully wiped his mouth on a folded napkin that was placed on the tabletop before him, "you don't like school?"

"I don't know," Redgilus responded as he used his fork to toy with the piece of meat on his plate. "Just feels that it's too much of a bother."

"How could you say that, brother," Laurina said with her usual, noble like behavior, "being able to attend the Royal Academy of Magic and Combat is an honor. The Academy boasts some of the best teachers in the entire kingdom of Astra."

"But what's the point?" Redgilus whined in his tired voice, resting his chin on the table top and just laying limp.

"It is important for you, a son of the Ainzloft family to be educated in the arts of magic and combat," Maria explained, obvious that she was used to Redgilus's attitude. "Once you graduate, you will have the liberty of travelling around the world, and maybe even join the imperial court! That'll sure be good for your future."

"Is that so..." Redgilus said once again in his tepid voice.

"Well son," Aldin smiled, "you have to go whether you enjoy it or not. And don't worry," Aldin added, "I'm having each of you bring a servant of your liking to accompany you and serve you whilst you are there in the capital city to take care of your daily lives."

"Doesn't it sound appealing?" Maria asked with a smile on her face. "I miss the capital..."

"It's your fault for marrying me," Aldin said in a teasing manner, "former Commander of the Astra Knights."

"It's your fault for courting me," Maria chuckled. "If it were not for you, I'd probably been married to a noble that resides in the capital. Not here in the middle of no where."

"Then may I apologize for any inconveniences that I might've caused you, in the name of the former imperial mage."

Early next morning, Aldin, Maria, Logan along with many servants and village people, came to see Redgilus and Laurina off at the village entrance. It was a somewhat emotional parting, with some villagers even weeping slightly. Many also gave the two of them gifts, such as food to snack on on the way.

Aldin and Maria however, was smiling as they saw their children ride off on the horse wagon used by the merchant caravan in order to cross the mountain range that separates the Ainzloft territory from the nearest town. From there, the twins are then supposed to take another wagon, however, this time, the wagons would be designed for transporting people, to the capital city of Astra, Astalan, where the Academy is located. This journey would probably take them about a month to complete, giving them about a week's worth of time to tour Astalan to their heart's content.

"Mother," Logan asked that night when he was sitting next to Maria on a couch by the window, "when would I be allowed to attend the Academy?"

"When you become ten years old," Maria said, setting down the book that she was ready and reaching a hand over to Logan's head and gently patted him on the head. This gesture for some reason, made Logan feel warm inside. It was as if the boy's soul was touched by the woman's gentle gesture of motherly love even though she was only the mother of the body that he was residing in. "At that time, the Academy will send us a letter informing us about your eligibility. Then, off you go to Astalan."

"So how long would it be until I'm ten?" Logan asked, doing his best to imitate the voice of a young child. He was hoping that his voice doesn't sound cringy.

"In about a year and a half," Maria answered as she yawned. "It's getting late," she said as she stood up from the couch. "Let's get you off to bed."

Then, she took Logan by his hand and carefully walked him over to his bed in the room that Logan had awaken in that day when he first came to this world. She gently tucked the boy into the bed, carefully lifting the boy's bangs from his forehead, and gently kissed it.

"Goodnight, my dear," she said, walking away and carefully blowing out the only source of light in the room which was the oil lamp, before quietly shutting the door to his room and leaving for her's and Aldin's room.

Once alone, Logan laid there on the bed, unable to sleep for the time being. He looked around the dark room and was still able to see quite clearly where everything was at. The silver moonlight that entered through the windows was enough to illuminate the room to a level in which Logan could see.

However, Logan had no intent of leaving the comfort of the bed. Instead, he laid there and thought about the experiences of his first week in this world. He was actually enjoying it here. Maria, Aldin, Laurina, and Redgilus all feel like actual family to him. In fact, they are family to him. They had shown him nothing but love and he had done the same to them. Logan is now quite fond of them. In fact, when Laurina and Redgilus left, he actually cried a little to see his siblings by blood go.

Maybe it's not so bad here as I thought it to be. Looks like I'm really Logan from now on...I'm actually used to being called that now. So there's actually a school that teaches about magic? That's quite nice. Might be fun too. I can't wait for tomorrow to come. Life here is just so pleasant and nice. I love it here.
