Noah and Micka arrived at the school and said their goodbyes to their parents. They were greeted by the principal at the front gates and were given a quick tour around the school that looked like a castle.

It was located between hills and surrounded by a forest, just like the news had shown. It was magnificent as if the building was conjured from the storybook of a child, with stone walls that went the strongest for miles around, protecting the school and dividing it from the wilderness beyond.

The boys felt minuscule when they entered the great hall, holding back gasps as they stared at the crystal chandelier above them, and the rows of ancient paintings decorating every direction; exquisite sculptures standing tall around them.

"Are we at Hogwarts?" murmured Micka. Noah was too struck by awe to reply.

"Here is a map of the school in case you get lost," said the principal, handing them two folded maps. Micka took one and it unfolded all the way to the floor. He raised his brows as the paper touched his feet.

"Gee, thanks," he grumbled, feeling like it'd take more time to find where he was in the map than to find where he'd be heading to.

"And the book of rules and regulations you must follow diligently," went on the principal, handing them two books the size of dictionaries. Micka gulped, knowing that he'd have more of a hard time following all of them than Noah. "The key to each of your dorms."

He handed them two golden keys that looked like they could open a gate to Narnia.

"And your uniforms."

Noah took the perfectly folded and ironed clothes. He was amazed by how soft the fabric was. It definitely wasn't low-quality clothing.

"Wait, no one said anything about-"

"Thank you, sir, we'll wear them happily," interrupted Noah, stabbing Micka a glare before smiling at the principal.

"Good. I will let you boys unpack, but you'll have to attend afternoon classes. We don't want any of our students to be behind, including you. We are the best of the best, and we'd like to keep it that way."

Micka's lips twitched in annoyance but Noah quickly grabbed his arm. "We'll be heading to our dorms then. Thank you for showing us around!"

He quickly pulled Micka down the hall before Micka could say anything unpleasant to the principal.

"Boys?" called the principal. They both turned around simultaneously. He pointed towards the direction opposite to where they were heading. "The school dormitory is that way."

Noah let out a sheepish laugh. "Right, we knew that."

"No, we didn't," snorted Micka. Noah forced a smile, pulling Micka the other way. Their luggage rolled smoothly over the ruby red carpet, but since everything looked like it was made during the medieval days, it wasn't a surprise that there weren't any elevators. Noah and Micka had to carry their luggage up uneven spiral stairs that took ages to climb.

It wasn't easy finding their rooms either, and there was no one around them to help since everyone was probably in class. But after carrying their luggage up and down the endless floors, they finally managed to find their rooms. Micka's room was across from Noah's.

They agreed that they'd join each other after unpacking and changing into their new uniforms.

Noah inserted the key to his room and pushed the heavy door open, his eyes widening in amazement. There was a large bed with velvet and gold cushions and pillows, a beautiful carpet in the middle with captivating patterns, and a fireplace for the winter and a treasure box at the feet of the bed. The room looked like a place where a prince would sleep.

Noah went over to the wooden treasure box and opened it, finding a rusty key in the middle. He then opened his luggage and placed the items that Geo and Carl had given him inside, locking it closed with the key he had found. He then started unpacking his clothes and the rest of his belongings, before changing into his uniform.

Noah tucked his white starch shirt in his sand-brown pants, buttoning it up before putting on his dark, navy blue jacket. The uniform came with a tie, but Noah didn't know how to put it on, and after struggling for a good ten minutes, he decided that he'd ask Micka for help.

He heard a knock at his door and quickly opened it.

"No one said anything about a stupid uniform," growled Micka, storming into Noah's room in discontent. Noah glanced at Micka's neck and noticed that his tie was tangled in endless knots, pointing in directions in shouldn't be.

Noah blinked, wondering how Micka even managed to make his tie look like that. Right, maybe Micka wasn't the best person to ask how to tie a tie.

"The uniforms don't look that bad," compromised Noah. "I think we look classy."

"Classy? We look like those snobby rich kids who drink Starbucks every day and then complain about plastic straws!" whined Micka. He then pointed at his neck. "And what even is this?! A collar?! What do they think we are? DOGS?!"

Noah cleared his voice. "Um, I think it's called a necktie."

"This is an abomination to mankind, that's what it is!" cried Micka.

"Micka, we have to wear them. We can't start breaking the school's rules already," frowned Noah. "We just got here."

"Yeah, and I already hate it."

Noah went over to Micka who was sulking on the edge of his bed and put his hands on his best friend's shoulder, giving him a gentle shake. "I know, but we'll be out of here once we prove to the FBI that vampires don't exist, okay? All we need is some proof and evidence and we can go back to our normal lives. Back to riding our bikes to school every morning and back to crashing your car on the weekdays."

Micka stared into Noah's emerald eyes and sighed, leaning back and plopping onto his back.

"I still wonder how I got my driver's license," he mumbled. Micka and Noah both shared a look and started to laugh, the tension in the air slowly fading away.

There was another knock on the door and they both looked up.

"Uh, you wanna get that?" asked Micka.

"No, not really," gulped Noah.

The person knocked again and Micka gave Noah a gently push.

"It's your room," he whispered.

"What if it's a vampire?" whispered Noah back.

"You just said that vampires don't exist!" argued Micka.

"Yeah, well, that was before an anonymous person started knocking on my door!" hissed Noah. They both started to fight but Micka, who was taller and stronger, always won their physical fights and pushed Noah forth. He staggered forward and stopped in front of the door. He looked towards Micka nervously.

"Don't worry buddy, I got your back," whispered Micka, hiding behind the bed. Noah rolled his eyes.

"My hero," he grumbled in irony, turning back towards the door. He nervously reached out, turning the metal doorknob. The wooden door creaked open and Micka craned his neck to see who it was.

A girl wearing the same colored uniform as them, but a grey, knee-length skirt instead of brown pants, stood in front of Noah. She had long, black hair that glistened ivory under the light, sharp cheekbones and a square jaw. Her dark, almond shaped eyes contrasted with light-brown freckles over her cheeks and nose.

The girl had a cute-button nose and plump, rose lips.

She didn't smile nor speak, simply staring into the depths of Noah's soul who stood there, nervous like a lamb.

"Um, hello," said Noah, quickly clearing his voice and breaking the awkward silence. "May I help you?"

"Are you guys the two hooligans that I'm supposed to be working with?" she demanded in a sharp tone. right.

"Hey, who are you calling a hooligan?" snapped Micka from behind. The girl tilted her neck to look at the person who spoke, studying Micka up and down before raising a brow.

"The guy who's hiding behind the bed with a necktie that's defying gravity," she commented. The girl then looked towards Noah. "And the idiot who didn't even try putting one on."

Noah and Micka both looked at each other, speechless. The girl rolled her eyes, pushing past Noah.

"Come in," mumbled Noah to himself. The girl picked up Noah's tie that was on his bed and draping it around his collar, bringing the thick end horizontally across the front of the narrow end.

"Did Geo and Carl send you?" she asked, focusing on tying Noah's tie. Noah glanced towards Micka for help, not knowing if he should tell the truth or not and Micka simply raised his shoulders. "My name's Astrid, the FBI sent me here a few months ago to investigate vampires. Is that enough proof to buy your trust?"

Astrid finished tying Noah tie and shifted her eyes towards Micka who flinched.

"Come here," she ordered.

"Y-Yes, ma'am," he stuttered, getting on his feet and standing in front of Astrid who miraculously undid the ugly knots and tying it the right way.

"What are your names?" she asked.

"Noah."

"Micka."

They both said their names at the same time which made a weird mash of syllables that sounded like: "Mokah."

"I'm Noah, and he's Micka," quickly corrected Noah. "I'm sorry, Astrid, we're just slightly confused about this whole situation. Geo and Carl didn't tell us about working with another student."

"And I was told that I'd only have to look over one hooligan, not two," she said. "Of course they didn't tell you. How else were they going to convince you two to sign the contract? It's what they do every time."

"Every time?" Noah asked. "Are there more students like us who were recruited by them?"

"Yeah."

Noah's eyes brightened, slightly relieved that he and Micka weren't the only ones recruited by crazy adults who actually believed in mystical creatures such as vampires.

"That's great! Where are they?" he asked.

"Dead."

"Well, so much for great," grumbled Micka.

Noah paused, his brows slowly furrowing. "What do you mean by 'dead'?"

"They were sucked like a juice box by vampires and are now ten feet under the ground is what I mean by 'dead'," answered Astrid, coldly. "So if you two hooligans don't want to become a vamp's next Caprisun, then I advise you guys stick close to me."

She glanced from one to another.

"Come on, don't just stand there. We're going to be late for class," she snapped before spinning on her heel and leaving in a jiffy. Micka raised his hand and touched his perfectly tied knot.

"Damn, she's hot," he murmured in daze. Noah rolled his eyes before dragging his friend out of his room to follow Astrid.
