Noah went home and told his parents about the contract, and unfortunately for him, Geo was right, they were delighted by the news. They didn't believe him at first, but when they saw the paper Geo had given Noah, their jaws dropped to the ground and they started doing this weird, funky dance that Noah never wanted to see them do again. Ever.
"Mom, are you sure you want to send me to Bran Prep High?" Noah pressed, eager to change their minds.
"Of course, I am!" she exclaimed. "Do you know how many students want to go there? This should be a dream come true for you."
Noah didn't like the idea of going to a prestigious school for rich kids. He didn't value social standards or materialistic objects. In fact, he liked his hometown and the simple neighborhood he lived in, where he could be close to his friends and family. That was more than enough for him.
He also didn't want to be sent on some suicide mission to investigate notorious vampires.
"What about the strange animal attacks? It could be dangerous."
"No one's going to attack you, Noah," sighed his dad.
"What if they eat me instead?"
"No one's, going to eat you either."
'No, but they're going to suck every ounce of blood in of me,' he thought to himself.
"What about Micka?" he pressed. "I can't go to school without Micka."
"I'm sure you'll find another student with the same name," his dad joked. Noah tilted his head back and groaned.
"I need Micka," he said. "Micka needs me."
His parents shared a look and his mom raised a curious brow.

"Honey," she murmured, putting a gentle hand on her son's shoulder. "Are you perhaps-"
"W-What? No!" Noah blurted. "Micka and I are best friends, we're like brothers."
"You could still be-"
"Mom, this is about me not wanting to transfer," Noah mumbled, his face reddening. His eyes fell to the floor. "I won't fit in at Bran Pre High."
"Noah, you're a sweet boy, everyone will love you," his mom promised. "They'll be begging just for a bite of you."
She pinched Noah's cheek and he frowned, pulling away.
No matter how hard he tried to convince his parents, they had already made up their minds. Noah was going to Bran Prep High, and there was no getting out of it.

Noah was sent straight to the principal's office the next day. He sat in the same chair as yesterday, in front of Geo and Carl who were still wearing their sunglasses.
"What part of 'don't tell anyone' and 'top secret' did you not understand?" demanded Geo.
"Micka isn't just anyone," Noah said, straightening his shoulders. Micka, who sat beside him, grinned.
"You heard him."
"This is a top-secret investigation," Geo hissed.
"There are no secrets between best friends," Noah said.
"Exactly," Micka agreed with a nod. Geo looked like he was about to lose his mind.
"Okay, but then tell me why you're wearing sunglasses?" he grumbled, glaring at Micka who brought his own pair.
"Because we were scared you'd have that memory-erasing gadget like the guys in Men In Black, you know, the-"
Geo turned towards Carl. "This has to be a joke."
"You said that vampires existed, that could be a joke too," argued Noah. "Look, you convinced my parents with your sketchy contract, but if I'm transferring schools, then I at least want to take my best friend with me."
Noah pulled out the contract that he and his parents signed. "I'll go if Micka goes."
Noah had called Micka last night after arguing with his parents, telling him about what happened in the principal's office that morning. Micka didn't believe him, asking him if he had accidentally bumped his head on his way home or if he had fallen down a flight of stairs. Noah swore that he was telling the truth.

"So all we have to do is prove that vampires don't exist and that these attacks are just caused by wild animals, right?" said Micka over the phone.
"But are they caused by wild animals?"
"They're definitely not caused by vampires," snorted Micka. "Look, all we have to do is prove them wrong."
Noah paused. "What do you mean, 'we'?"
"You and me, duh. Come on, Noah, keep up with me."
"Micka, I'm not even allowed to be telling you this right now. Didn't you hear the part where they threatened to send you to juvey?"
"Great, then I guess I'll have a lot of cool stories to tell my grandchildren one day," said Micka. "Besides, mi casa es su casa."
"Micka, I don't think you're using that in the right context."
"I take French, not Spanish," he shrugged. "Anyway, we'll get through this together. Who knows? Maybe vampires really do exist. You might find yourself a depressed Edward Cullen to fix and heal."
"Micka," Noah groaned, feeling his cheeks turn red.
"You haven't told your parents yet?"
"I was going to," he murmured. "But then the whole FBI, vampire situation came along and..."
"Hey, don't worry," Micka reassured him. "You have time."
"I think they're catching on though. They thought I had a crush on you."
"Sir, that is disgustang," he gasped. "I didn't know they supported incest."
Noah smiled, lying down on his bed. "Maybe I'll tell them after the whole investigation thing is over." He paused, suddenly curious.
"It's a shame we're investigating vampires," Micka said.
"Why?"
"Dunno, investigating werewolves sounded cooler."
"Absolutely not," growled Geo, snapping Noah out of his train of thoughts. "We can't send two students, it'll on create more attention, which is exactly what we're trying to avoid."
"I can't go on this crazy vampire investigation alone. You guys said so yourself, I'm just a kid!"
Carl looked towards Geo. "He has a point."
"So you're suddenly okay with this?" asked Geo, arms crossed over his broad shoulder.
"We're lucky enough that someone's willing to go undercover in the first place. We can forge a fake profile and meddle with Micka's school record, it shouldn't be that hard," said Carl. "Besides, maybe having two investigators is better than one."
"Right, because if one of them dies, then the other one can still report to us."
Noah and Micka's eyes widened while Carl mentally groaned.
"No, Geo, because they'll be able to depend on each other if things get bad," sighed Carl. Geo unfolded his arms and turned towards the two boys who straightened their back. He could that they were both nervous.
"Fine, but I hope you two know that this is serious business. One of you two can actually get killed."
He glanced towards Noah. "We wouldn't have come asked kids for help if we weren't desperate. Sending in two of you doubles the risk of one of you getting hurt. I hope you're well aware of what kind of position you're putting your best friend in."
Geo's serious voice made Noah realize that he was putting Micka in danger, and suddenly felt a pang of guilt.
"Noah didn't make me doing anything, I'm going because I want to stay with him," said Micka. "If he's going on some kind of suicide mission to investigate mystical creatures, then I sure as hell am going with him."
Carl nudged Geo in the rib, giving him a look. Noah and Micka reminded them of when they were trainees for the FBI. They always worked best together and knew how reassuring it was to have a friend on a dangerous mission.
Geo let out a tired sigh, taking out a metal suitcase from under the desk. He placed it on the table in front of the boys, lifting the locks that clicked open.
"Is this the part where you erase our memories?" gulped Micka. Geo rolled his eyes.
"You boys will be surrounded by vampires in a few days," he said, sternly. "If we're sending you on a suicide mission, we at least want you two to go in prepared."

A/N: Can we just agree on the fact that Noah and Micka are best friend goals? And that Geo definitely has a soft spot despite his rigid appearance?
