《Elegance | Harry Potter》Battle Of Hogwarts (3)

...Here we go. So sorry if there are any mistakes. I just wrote four stories and it's 2 am rn. I think I'm about to go crazy.

Battle Of Hogwarts (3)

I walked aimlessly around the corridors filled with memories. Past the destroyed great hall. Past the courtyard. Lost. I didn't know what to do or where to go. I continued to roam around the castle until I reached the Gryffindor common room. The fat lady was nowhere to be found, probably hiding from all the battle. I didn't enter the common room and waited for the stairs to rotate, just like the first adventure Harry and I had. The third floor still looked the same for no one stepped foot in it. I continued walking until I came across the mirror of erised. I vividly remember what I saw in it during my first-year. I was a quidditch player. That was young, cold, innocent me. Now in the mirror, all I see is Harry.

I stared at the mirror, at the smiling Harry Potter. He had no lightning scar on his forehead. He was just Harry. Just Harry in his seventh year. Nothing special about him. Just, Harry. The one that I fell in love with. The one I'll never be able to see anymore. I could just stay here and be delusional, pretend that he's really standing next to me smiling but that's not the truth and I can't be stuck in my imagination.

I picked up a fairly big rock that sat next to the mirror. I took one last look at the smiling Harry Potter before throwing the rock at it. It shattered into many pieces and even in the shattered pieces of glass, I could see Harry. He was on each piece of the mirror, still smiling at me. My heart sunk and an unbelieve amount of pressure pushed out of my eyes in tears. I fell onto my knees, on top of the shattered glass not caring about the pieces digging into my skin.

I picked up the largest piece of glass in reach. I could still see Harry's green eyes in it. The glass was digging into my hand and blood dripped onto the floor but I couldn't feel the pain. Maybe, just maybe, I could join him. I don't think I'm brave enough to continue. I closed my eyes taking a deep breath placing the piece of glass in front of my already broken heart.

"We'll share our last day," I whispered preparing myself.

"NO!"

Before I could stab the piece of glass into my chest, someone kicked it out of my hands. I looked back up to see Draco pulling me up to my feet and away from all the pieces of glass. My clothes were now covered with fresh blood that I'd bled just now.

"He's gone... He's gone Draco... I don't think I can continue," I whispered looking at him, trying to hold back the tears.

"Harry would not have wanted you to do this. It'll destroy him. It's kill him, a second time."

"Well what am I supposed to do?"

"The right thing to do. That's what you told me in the Astronomy Tower. You're just gonna give up like that? Harry sacrificed his life for everyone to live. For you to live. You're dishonoring him by doing this Evelyn."

I didn't reply. I couldn't find the right words to anyway. He was right. He died so everyone could live. So that I could live. "He promised to be with me until our last breath. He promised we'll watch each other grow."

"Some promises just... Can't be kept."

"It was my dream, my desire, my ONE wish. I've never wanted anything more. I didn't even wish that you-know-who would ever even consider having me to carry his heir. I didn't even wish that my mom would just out of nowhere become sane again. That was my one wish, it was a simple one. TO JUST BE HAPPY AND LIVE NORMALLY," I said feeling myself get angrier each word. I didn't bother trying to hide my tears now.

"I'm sorry," he said pulling me into a hug, "I'm sorry you ever had to go through any of this."

I was sobbing and was struggling to even breathe. I was holding on to him like he was the last thing left on Earth. He just stood there rubbing my hair as I cried into his shoulders. It felt like hours again until I could finally calm down and breathe.

"Thank you for always being here for me," I whispered taking deep breaths.

"I never left. I was always there. Just... One step behind."

"...I guess... Not all dreams come true."

"...No. They don't."

I finally gathered the courage to head out the castle with everyone. I couldn't even walk properly and had to rely on Draco to help me walk. Everyone was gathered around with a grim face. On the other side of them were the death eaters with Voldemort in the very front. My heart started to race again and I walked fast past everyone to the very front of the crowd despite Draco's attempt to stop me. From the crowds I could see Hagrid easily. In his arms was a body. Someone's body. I refuse to admit it's Harry's. It's just... Someone's body.

"Who is that?" I said freezing and feeling my breaths get sucked out. "Who is that Draco? The person Hagrid is carrying. I think I must be seeing things."

"Evelyn..." He whispered grabbing my arm and pulling me back.

"NO! Who is that? I almost thought that was Harry," I scoffed yet felt the tears again.

"HARRY POTTER IS DEAD!" Voldemort yelled followed by the death eaters laughter.

"No-- NO!" I yelled making a run for him.

"SILENCE!" He yelled as Draco quickly back before I got any more closer to Voldemort. "Stupid girl." My eyes were still on the body Hagrid was carrying. Though I hate to realize it, it really was Harry. It was Harry Potter. The Harry Potter I've grown to love now dead.

"Harry Potter is dead!" Voldemort yelled again.

"Don't listen," Draco whispered covering my ears with his hands. I closed my eyes shut hoping by the time I open them, Harry would be somehow still alive. "From this day forth... you'll put your faith in me," I could still hear his voice muffled through Draco's hands. "Harry Potter is dead! And now it's the time to declare yourself. Come forward and join us... Or die."

"Draco! Draco," I opened my eyes back again to see Lucius Malfoy stepping forward and gesturing for Draco to come.

"Draco," Narcissa also walked up behind him. "Come."

"Don't go Draco," I whispered grabbing onto his wrists, "You promised you won't leave me. Do the right thing."

"Don't worry. I'm not leaving," he whispered. Everyone's eyes were on Draco and a long silence followed with nothing happening until Neville stepped up limping. Neville, out of all people to join Voldemort. Neville Longbottom.

"Well, I must say I'd hope for better," Voldemort said followed with laughter. "And who might you be, young man?"

"Neville Longbottom," he replied.

"Well, Neville, I'm sure we can find a place for you in our rank."

"I'd like to say something."

Voldemort looked annoyed and angered by this but tried to keep his calm manner. "Well, Neville, I'm sure we'd all be fascinated to hear what you have to say."

"Doesn't matter that Harry is gone."

"Stand down, Neville!" Seamus called out for him from behind.

"People die everyday! Friends, family. Yeah... We lost Harry tonight. He's still with us. In here," he said placing his hand on his heart. Right, Harry never left me. He died for me. He died trusting everyone to be able to finish what he couldn't. I shouldn't be like this. "So as everyone who died. All of them. They didn't die in vain. But you will. Because you're wrong! Harry's heart did beat for us. For all of us! It's not over!" As soon as he finished his speech, he pulled out the sword of Gryffindor.

I took a deep breath wiping all the dry tears away before opening them. Once I did, Harry dropped out of Hagrid's arms. I didn't believe it at first. A miracle really did happen. I felt all the blood that was drained come back into my body. My heart started beating again finally and a smile I never thought I'd be able to shine again returned.

"POTTER!" Draco yelled running towards his parents and throwing him his wand. Harry Potter was really alive.

"Confringo!" Harry yelled shooting the spell at Voldemort's snake that rebounded and hit a group of death eaters. He then ran away into the broken corridors as most death eaters fled the battle.

"Reducto!" I casted a spell at Voldemort distracting him from attacking Harry any further. He didn't fight me back and looked around at the amount of death eaters leaving in absolute defeat. I took the opportunity to run back into the castle keeping my eyes on Harry as he too ran towards the castle.

"I'll lure him into the castle! We have to kill the snake," Harry said running towards Ron and Hermione.

"Harry!" I yelled not caring about Voldemort at all and threw my arms around him. He too threw his arms around me and we both held onto each other tightly. "Oh Merlin, you're alive. You're real. I'm not going crazy."

"Neville!" Someone called out for Neville who was charging at Voldemort with the Sword Of Gryffindor. Voldemort fought back this time throwing him back into the castle. The ongoing war only now hit me again. Our reunion didn't last for long but it was all I needed, to hold him one more time.

"Go Evelyn, I'll fight Voldemort. Go help the others," Harry said wiping away a trickle of blood on my cheeks with his thumb. "I'll come back for you. I never left in the first place."

I nodded running back further into the castle before Hermione and Ron did. Harry was alive and we're closer to defeating Voldemort. We'll continue our reunion once everything is over. I feel like I could do anything, fight Voldemort even. The relief and immense amount of joy I felt when Harry dropped out of Hagrid's arms boosted my rush of adrenalin. I stopped and ran inside the great hall meeting Fleur along with the Weasley family and other students. The windows all cracked and death eaters apparated inside the great hall all at once and another fight broke out.

"Harry Potter is alive," I said catching my breath.

"He never left you," Fleur replied drawing out her wand. "Stupefy!" She shot a spell at a death eater knocking him out. I joined by her side dueling the death eaters. They were skilled, yes, but compared to Bellatrix or... Voldemort, it was bearable.

"Avada Kedavra!" The spell flew by just in between Fleur and I. We turned around to find Apolline, but in a terrible condition. She was deranged, like Bellatrix. Her hair was all messed up and no one would believe it if this were the same woman forcing elegance on Fleur and I. She was angry, it was obvious. Losing her mind even. "You filthy little blood-traitors!"

"Looking quite elegant there," Fleur scoffed preparing herself for a duel.

"You both are so daft. You passed up the greatest opportunity anyone would ever give you, to join the dark lord."

"Like hell," I spat firing a spell at her she was able to barely deflect. She struggled to even deflect a basic offensive spell. She looked exhausted and the color in her skin was draining out.

"You're dying," Fleur said looking down at her stomach. Blood was slowly staining her black dress. I can only guess the blood was from landing on something sharp after getting knocked back by Fleur. "You're dying and your last wish is to kill your daughters?"

"Nothing else," She muttered pointing her wand at her.

"Expelliarmus," Her wand flew right into my hands effortlessly followed with her chilling cackles.

"My only regret is letting a dirty blood in my family line," she spat in between her laughs.

"Stupefy!" Fleur shot a spell at her. Apolline was already fragile and about to die. As she hit the ground, she looked completely dead or barely conscious at the most. "Is she dead?" She asked.

"I'm not sure and I don't think I care." I replied looking away.

"Evelyn," I turned around to see Ginny running up to me, "have you seen Ron? Harry? Where are they?"

"I don't know--" I was cut off noticing Bellatrix apparating behind her and pulled her aside behind me, "Protego!" I was able to deflect the spell just before it hit any of us followed by her smirk. Her black dress too was stained red but she didn't seem to feel pain like her wound was healed by someone.

"Ginny!" Mrs. Weasley ran towards us standing in between Bellatrix and I with her wand drawn ready to battle. "Not my daughter you bitch!" Bellatrix didn't reply and instead cackled. She was enjoying this thrill like the deranged woman she is.

Mrs. Weasley first started the duel with a spell fired at Bellatrix. She fought back with offensive spells causing her to back away using only defensive charms. Bellatrix cackled the entire battle enjoying every second of it. Mrs. Weasley didn't stand that and shot offensive spells at her making Bellatrix the one to have to back away. She shot a last spell that hit Bellatrix making her body into stone. She shot one last spell that made her stone body crumble, killing her.

"Thanks," Ginny said not taking her eyes off of the remains of Bellatrix.

"Anytime."

"Evelyn!" Neville came running towards me all bruised up and bloody yet the sword was still in his hands. "Have you seen Harry?"

"No, I haven't."

"Hermione? Ron?"

"Neither of them. All I know is that they've left to kill the snake."

"Well could you help me find them?"

"Yeah, of course. I was going to go look for them as well," I replied. He immediately headed out the great hall as I followed closely behind him making sure no death eaters got in our way. The further we got from the great hall, the more peaceful it got. The majority of the duels were happening inside the great hall while the other parts of the castle remained untouched.

Down the corridors I could see Ron and Hermione running down the stairs with their hands held together. Behind them, Voldemort's snake was chasing after the two. The snake continued to follow Ron and Hermione until the two ran into a wall. Ron held Hermione closely as the Snake approached them ready to attack.

"RON! HERMIONE!" I yelled running faster shooting a spell at the snake that rebounded off of it. It was a horcrux, it couldn't be damaged by my spells. The snake was completely unbothered and leaped towards Ron and Hermione when Neville got in the way, cutting the snake's head off with the Sword Of Gryffindor before it hit Ron or Hermione. Black clouds came out of the cut but disappeared quickly with no life threats like all the other horcruxes. The last horcrux was now gone. It was up to Harry now to be able to kill Voldemort.

"Good job Neville," I said out of breath.

"Wow, I really am a true Gryffindor," he replied laughing while trying to catch his breath.

"It's up to Harry now," Hermione said.

"Yeah, and I trust--" I was cut off by the sound of spells colliding just outside the castle. Hermione and Ron quickly got on their feet and walked over towards the castle exit along with Neville and I. Outside, Voldemort and Harry's wand connected. The green and red light were colliding against each other. It was a fairly even fight and sparks from the two different light meeting each other were blinding.

The red light from Harry's wand got closer to Voldemort and Voldemort himself looked confused. It looked as if his wand was rejected his power. The red light continued to push itself until it reached him and his wand flew into Harry's hand. He stumbled, trying to move or... Something when a part of his face turned into flakes. The process became more rapid until his entire body became flakey and turned to dust.

Voldemort was defeated.

Everything's finally over.

~***~

We stood on the ruined bridge above the black river. Behind me the Hogwarts castle was in complete ruins. The aftermath of the greatest war yet.

"Why didn't it work for him? The Elder Wand?" I asked breaking the heavy silence.

"It answers to somebody else. When he killed Snape, he thought the wand would become his. But the thing is... The wand never belongs to Snape. It was Draco who disarmed Dumbledore that night in the Astronomy tower. From that moment on, the wand answered him. Until, the other night when I disarmed Draco. At Malfoy Manor. So, that means... It's mine!" He replied. I was happy, of course, but Snape saved Draco. He saved Harry, and everybody else too. Although I'd never be able to forgive his actions in the past, he did accomplish great things.

"What should we do with it?" Ron asked.

"We?" Hermione snapped back.

"Just saying, that's the Elder Wand. The most powerful wand in the world. With that, he'll be invincible."

Harry didn't reply and instead held the elder wand in both his hands. He didn't hesitate to snap it into two pieces and threw it off the bridge. I supported his idea. Temptation leads to many terrible things including death.

"...I told you Evelyn," Harry whispered pulling me closer to him. "I'll never leave you. I'll keep the promise that we'll watch each other's hair go grey."

"You got lucky Harry. Some promises can't be kept..." I paused for a second remembering Draco's promise he'd never leave my side. He wasn't physically here anymore but I know he always will be. Even if he's not right next to me. "...But it seems like I've only made promises that can be kept." I whispered placing his promise ring into his hands.

"I promise you a future we'll share together."

"Don't make promises you can't keep."

"You only make promises that can be kept."
