"Evelyn, you look beautiful-" Hermione walked over towards me. She looked absolutely breath taking his her purple ruffled dress, her hair was styled unlike her normal frizzy hair too. She was definitely eye catching. "But who is your date?"
"Draco" I hesitated for a second. Surely enough Hermione's facial expressions stiffened looking at me with a frown.
"Have you gone mad?" She furrowed her eyebrows at me looking at in disbelief, "Why him? I mean not only is it extremely random but out of everyone, Malfoy?"
"Not random first of all, we've danced together many times before. Second, I don't want to go alone"
"I would've rather went alone then with that scum" She walked away shaking her head at me. The decision was completely impulsive, he just came and asked at the right time. I was just so frustrated I didn't think of it too far but it was too late now. I took a deep breath and headed out towards the Slytherin Dungeon.
"Evelyn Clermont" I was stopped in front of the Dungeon by a Slytherin boy named Blaise Zabini. He was also a very good looking guy and beside him was Pansy who only glared at me.
"What are you doing here?" Pansy spat looking at me up and down with disgust.
"She's here with me" Draco walked out of the common room shoving Blaise out of the way.
"Her? That's who you left me for?" Pansy spat glaring at Draco.
"Piss off Pansy" He put out his arm in front of me and I placed mine on top of his gently. We walked towards the great hall receiving a lot of stares, some of jealousy and some of shock.
"Is that your mudblood friend?" Draco squinted at a girl standing in front of us hesitating to go down the stairs and into the great hall. It was Hermione of course, looking breathtaking in her purple dress still. She soon peeked around the corner and walked down the stairs as Draco and I followed. Down the stairs she was greeted by Viktor who kissed her hand leading her inside the great hall past the crowd of people.
Beside her was Harry who had been eyeing Draco and I from the moment we had walked in. I looked away avoiding eye contact, still a little frustrated with him and because of a slight bit of guilt. Draco smirked raising an eyebrow at him who was standing with Parvati. I never even realized how salty I could be. I took a deep breath as Draco and I made our way brushing past Harry.
"Evelyn-" He called out for me furrowing his eyebrows.
"Don't stop" I whispered to Draco who nodded smirking and continued to walk inside the great hall. We stood in the very front watching as the four champions made their entry. Cedric gestured at Draco and then at me furrowing his eyebrows, I quickly realized what he meant and shook my head to let him know Draco really wasn't the one I had waited for. I smiled at Fleur who walked past with a boy named Roger Davis. A decently good looking guy but I don't see them lasting for too long. Hermione didn't even bother looking at me, in fact her smile turned to a frown as she walked past me. Harry's eyes on the other hand were glued on me and I avoided eye contact on purpose.

The students closed in surrounding the four champions in a circle as the partners got ready to dance and the music started. I watched Harry dancing with Parvati remembering our first dancing lesson. The moment where it felt like time had stopped, where everything just felt right. Now I'm looking at him dancing with Parvati standing next to Draco, everything just felt wrong.
After the male partner picked up the female, Dumbledore held McGonagall's hand and joined in on the dance floor as the students clapped.
"Are you ready?" Draco nudged me a little harshly.
"For what?" I whispered back.
"To be the best pair" He let out his hand and I placed mine into his following his lead to the very middle of the stage. The students clapped and a few started to even whisper, nonetheless Draco placed his hand on my waist extending the other grabbing my hand as we started to dance. Our dance was effortless, both of us had an emotionless face, like a dance strictly meant for business, just like all of our other dances had been. All the other students were hesitant to join in, maybe because of the presence of Draco and I.
I caught eye contact with cedric who looked at me with a smile on his face. I returned the smile and watched as the smile turned into a frown facing Cho and laughed a little.
"What's so funny?" Draco muttered furrowing his eyebrows.
"Nothing"
Neville and Ginny stepped onto the dance floor and soon after the students came rushing in like they've been waiting for this one thing.
Draco placed both his hands on my waist as I placed both of mine on his shoulders and lifted me up effortlessly. For a second, I watched as a genuine smile appear on Draco's face, one I have never seen before yet I've danced countless times with him.
"What's so funny?" I asked mocking him.
"You look gorgeous tonight" His smile turned back into an emotionless face. I was thrown back a little and just didn't say anything. He spun me around carefully pulling me close and stared down into my eyes.
"ARE YOU READY!!" The weird sisters yelled out from the front of the stage as Draco pushed me away slightly looking away. The great hall was now filled with chaotic dances and rock music.
"Wanna get some air?" Draco asked.
"Yeah sure" We both weren't the type to be dancing to rock music so we started to head out.
"Evelyn-" Someone grabbed my arm and turned me over to face him. Harry stood there, his breath uneasy, he looked at me and then at Draco furrowing his eyebrows. "Really, the guy you were waiting for was Malfoy?"
"Piss off Potter" Draco threw Harry's hands off of my arm.

"Let's just go" I rolled my eyes grabbing Draco's arm and pulling him away to avoid creating a fuss.
"Don't touch him like that!" Harry grabbed my arm once again.
"Why do you care? You're not even my boyfriend"
"I honestly expected you would have waited for someone better than him, anyone would've been better. You should've known better. I'm so disappointed you would do that, I thought you were better than this"
"I WAITED FOR YOU! Next time just ask me instead of making a huge fuss about it" I threw his hand off yelling. Harry looked at me with his eyes widened not knowing what to say, of course he wouldn't, I never yell at anyone.
"I was the only one who believed you didn't put your name in the goblet of fire, I was the one who picked you up away from the Dursley's, I put your life over mine. I go to some stupid ball with some boy you don't like and that's all it takes for you to hate me. I waited for you, YOU. I chose to go with Draco because I had rejected every single guy that had asked me, even Cedric for you to drool over Cho" I snapped at him. Harry just looked at me with his eyes widened, even Draco.
"I need some air" I quickly tuned around pushing back the tears pulling Draco with me and headed to the astronomy tower. I leaned against the balcony taking a deep breath in to calm myself down and process everything that had just happened. Hermione won't talk to me and Harry is mad at me because I went to the ball with Draco. I don't blame them at all, Draco treated them like an arse.
"You really waited for Potter?" Draco asked coming beside me. I didn't answer, just looked up at the night sky looking at the stars. "We were the best pair at the ball tonight, your parents would be glad to hear you went with me"
He was right, mother wanted him to fall in love with me and seeing I took him to the Yule Ball probably would satisfy her. So what though? She's no less than a death eater I bet.
"I still don't understand why you let me go to Harry during the Quidditch World Cup, or you knowing about the poly juice potion but not do anything about it" I said turning to face him.
"Piss off, you would do the same" He scoffed.
"I pity you"
"What'd you just say to me?"
"I pity you. That's what you told me. You're a product of your father" I said expecting him to go yelling or something throwing a huge fit but instead there was silence. He looked down at the ground with an unreadable face.
"You're a product of your mother" He broke the silence looking back up at me.
"I pity us" It was ironic, the 'best pair' at the Yule Ball was really the worst. My hatred for Draco started to fade, I've never seen this side of Draco, Draco not Draco Malfoy.
"Do you come up here often?" I asked. He was here when I had first came here to get some air, i doubt it was just out of coincidence.
"I come up here when I need some air"
"The stars are bright tonight" I nodded and turned around to face the stars. The astronomy tower truly had the best view and it was also quite, great place to come to whenever you need to clear your mind.
"I found the brightest one" He said looking up at the night sky. The two of us stayed there in silence just watching the sky.

I walked in the Gryffindor girl's dormitories to find Hermione crying on her bed, still in her dress. I quickly rushed over and hesitated to sit down on her bed next to her. She looked up at me with tears in her eyes practically sobbing, I slowly sat down placing a hand on her back.
"Hermione, what happened?" I asked. To my surprise she turned to face me and placed her head on my shoulder crying into it.
"Ron and I had a fight because I went with Harry's enemy from the Tri-Wizard tournament" She whispered softly. I rolled my eyes, Ron was just jealous, are you kidding me. "I'm sorry for ignoring you, I understand why you went with him. It would've been really bad for your name to go by yourself. Besides, I know what if feels like to have your friends be mad at you over a stupid ball"
"I'll talk to Ron, he's just jealous"
"I bet Harry was furious with you"
"He was" I scoffed.
"You and Draco really were the best pair, really eye catching. I still despise him so don't go dating him" Again, Ironic. The 'best pair' was really the worst. I didn't say anything back and let her cry into my shoulders, the Yule Ball was really a bad day for some of us.
