❝︎Everyone is expecting you to attend Beauxbatons!❞︎

00 : The Decision
've received 2 acceptance letters, one from Hogwarts and one from Beauxbatons. Of course, everyone in my family thought I would be attending Beauxbatons because all the girls in my family went there. I myself looked forward to attending school there alongside Fleur. She's 3 years older than me and has become Beauxbatons' pride. Because of that, all the teachers there couldn't wait for my arrival, another bright witch that will attend their school.
"Did you hear?" I glanced up from the two letters while laying on my bed to see Fleur standing there looking pretty without even trying talking with a heavy french accent.
"Hear what?" I ask, putting the letters down.
"Harry Potter"
"The boy who lived, what about him?"
"He got accepted to Hogwarts"
My eyes widened, "how do you know that?"
"Head Mistress told me"
"Of course she did", I scoffed. The Head Mistress of Beauxbaton was crazy over our family. Maybe it's because of the long line of the girls that attended her school or maybe it's because our family is one of the strongest and wealthiest wizarding families.
"Quite interesting isn't it? The boy who survived will soon meet Dumbledore" Fleur said in French.
"I guess so" I replied in French.
"Anyway, other than that I came to ask if you needed my Owl"
"What for?"
"To send a letter back to Head Mistress to let her know you will be attending Beauxbatons of course! Surely you finished writing it by now"
"Yeah about that, I think I'm going to attend Hogwarts" Fleur looked at me shocked.
"You cannot! Everyone is expecting you to attend Beauxbatons!" She furrowed her eyebrows whisper shouting to make sure she doesn't wake up Gabrielle, our youngest sister who's just next doors. "besides, you wanted to go the Beauxbatons... What happened?!"
"Dumbledore, I want to be taught by him" I replied in English. It was true though, ever since I got my acceptance letter from Hogwarts, which I never expected since no girls in my family got accepted there ever, I couldn't stop wondering. How come I was the only girl that got accepted to Hogwarts? Besides, Dumbledore is the greatest wizard, someone who even HE feared. I've always looked up to him. Also, hearing that Harry Potter, the boy who lived, would be attending Hogwarts too made me want to go to Hogwarts more.
"Evelyn, you're being stupid. If mother finds out about this-" Fleur said holding my hand.
"Mother won't hate me, maybe disappointed. Father.. would be proud. You know how he is. He too went to Hogwarts remember?"
"Evelyn" Fleur looked at me in the eye looking very serious. "I can't let you send this letter back to Hogwarts. For our family's sake"
"It's too late Fleur, I already sent it" She let go of my hand so fast her jaw dropping.

"Evelyn Clermont, what in the world have you done?" Fleur sighed. There was an awkward silence for about 3 minutes. Fleur seemed to be thinking, deep.
"My little sister attending Hogwarts, I was looking forward to spending more time with you Evelyn. I guess I can't change what has been done... But promise me you'll write to me every day. You should tell the others about your decision today" She spoke in French once again. We nodded at each other and Fleur walked out looking sad. I picked up the Hogwarts acceptance letter and held it close to my heart. I felt relieved that Fleur was understanding and didn't throw a huge fit. Maybe mother will be as understanding too.
That day during dinner as our house elf, Rosie, served us food, Fleur coughed nodding in my direction.
"I made my decision mother" I looked up at her who was pushing her long silky blonde hair behind her shoulder.
"Beauxbatons right?" she spoke uninterested. She probably thought I would choose Beauxbatons without hesitation. A slight bit of guilt rushed over me.
"no... I chose to go to Hogwarts" Silence. Absolute silence. I could feel all eyes on me, even Rosie and Gabrielle who was literally only 4. "I've always looked up to Dumbledore and I want to learn from him" I said, breaking the silence.
"Evelyn... You have Veela blood in you. You need to go to a school and live an elegant life taught proper" My mother looked at me in shock.
"Only a quarter, Apolline. She doesn't possess the same powers as a Veela. She's basically no different than a human" My father said. This was true and well known throughout the wizarding world. The only thing my sisters and I have of a Veela trait is being beautiful, as other people would say.
"MONSIEUR! You're okay with her decision?" My mother said in shock. I was shocked too really.
"Yes of course. Hogwarts is a great school Apolline" My father replied winking at me.
"But our legacy!" Mother snapped.
"Please Apolline, Fleur has been doing a beautiful job at Beauxbatons. Besides, Evelyn won't have to go through the hassle of traveling for hours to get to France like Fleur, Hogwarts is so much closer" Father laughed. Both of my parents work for the ministry, they are both very high ranks. To make going to work easier we settled in England.
Mother sighed looking at me with sad eyes. "I may not agree with your choice Evelyn Clermont, but seeing there's nothing more I can do about this I will let you go. Although, I am very disappointed in you" Mother said before finishing her dinner and walking up towards her room.
"She'll come through, don't worry about it," Father said giving me a smile and a nod. I nodded back mouthing thank you and finished eating.

(Reminder Evelyn's style is based off of what I believe pure-blood witches in the 1900s will wear. e.g., Narcissa.)
A few days later father and I grabbed some floo powder and went to Diagon Alley to get all my school materials and a wand. I dressed very formally, it was my family's expectation to be elegant at all times. I wore a white blouse and a blue pencil smart that fell just below my knees and my hair was in a bun. I linked arms with my father looking up at his brown hair in excitement.
We first headed to Eeylops Owl Emporium and bought the most beautiful owl I've seen. Plain white with bright yellow eyes looking so elegant. Then my father brought me over to Ollivanders.
"Now Evelyn, get your wand wait here, and don't go anywhere. I'm going to go to Gringotts to get you some money for your school year. The vault is no place for a lady like you to be in" my father said hanging me money as he walked off.
A lady like me, what does that even mean? I grew up hearing that. What does being a lady even look like? Obey whatever men say.. Look pretty and proper mannered... That's what I've been taught my whole life. If that's what it means to be a lady I don't like that. That's not an 'ideal lady', that's just a robot, as muggles will say, programmed to obey everything men say...
CRASH!
My thoughts were disturbed by the noises from inside Ollivander's. Probably a boy trying to find a good wand. I've been here before with Fleur... She wanted to come today but she thought it would be best if she stayed by mother's side. I walked in not surprised by the mess and a cracked vase. Ollivander was talking to a black-haired boy, he looked about my age and height. I decided to stand by the door crossing my arms, observing this boy.
"We do not speak his name..." Ollivander whispered to the boy. I knew exactly who he was talking about yet I was wondering why he would bring HIM up. I didn't hear what he had said afterwards being so lost in my thoughts until I snapped back to reality. "but... I think it is clear that we can expect great things from you" Ollivander says looking down at the boy. He glances over to me noticing my presence. The boy following Ollivander's gaze turned around to face me.
"Uh... Sorry sir, I didn't want to interrupt" I say. I looked at the boy who seemed to have frozen in place. I stared into his eyes, beautiful green eyes as he stared at me.
"Ahem.." I coughed slightly. The boy's eyes grew wide and turned to face Ollivander who was smiling at the boy. Then there were two loud knocks on the door and outside stood a big man with a big beard and a white owl. He looked similar to my owl, who I decided to name Layla, but with grey spots.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRY!" The big man spoke. Harry, Harry Potter, of course. That's why Ollivander was talking about HIM. He then turned back at me and then grabbed the rest of his materials and hurried out.
"Miss Clermont, please come closer," Ollivander said now smiling at me. He had already placed a wand on the front desk for me to try and give a quick flick. I expected something to fall, explode even, but to my surprise, a light delightful wind hit my face.
"Ah yes... I knew this would be the perfect fit for you, sycamore wood with a phoenix feather core, same as the boy that was just here, 12 and a quarter inches and reasonable supple flexibility" He said smiling down at me. (
"But how.," I replied looking down at my wand. It was actually beautiful with flowers traveling up.
"Your family is very well-known Miss Clermont, everyone's expecting lots from you. They were all surprised to hear you'll be attending Hogwarts" He responded
"Words got around so quick.." I nodded not being able to take my eyes off of my wand
"Indeed, the expectations are very high so I suppose that's why everyone is so excited about you"
I nodded once again looking up at him. "Thank you," I said, giving him the money my father had given me.
"Hagrid," I say walking down Diagon Ally through the crowded people. "Who was that girl in the shop with me? She seems so.. Out of place, not in a bad way or anything just-"
"I get what u mean boy!" Hagrid said laughing. "A bright one isn't she! A Clermont. One of the wealthiest and strongest families! She's almost as famous as you harry! Comes from a family of VEELAS! But she's basically human, quarter blood of Veela won't do anything. She's not even considered a veela" He says in his usual rough loud voice
"What's a veela?" I ask looking back towards Ollivanders. She must be still there.
"Magical creatures, they're known to be gorgeous Harry!"
"Does that mean she's not human?"
"No Boy! like I said, she's not even considered a Veela. A half veela isn't even considered most the times, imagine a quarter veela. Her family did get the beautiful genes though, why you ask little boy?"
I felt a slight bit of embarrassment. "N...Nothing! Just wondering"

Thank you for reading my story! Commenting / Voting greatly helps the growth of this story :)
To clarify, Evelyn Clermont is a quarter veela with her sisters. However, she's still considered fully human. Also, my first few chapters are a disaster. The quality gets better during mid 2nd year :)

Musings of a Hypocrite
Mortals are weird. They insisted in unity, as well as individualism. More often than not, they're shocked at truth and honesty, but not at falsehood and deceit. They asked questions with multiple answers, and provided answers that begged other questions. They made things to break, they destroyed things to study, they researched things to recreate. Humans, Elves, Beastmen. All of them. Within these contradictions, a miracle might manifest. But this tended to work with a trial and error methodology. Most mortals never got the happy ending. This diary is my journey alongside a few students of mine. In simple terms - they learn, they grow, they fight. They'll journey through centuries of conflict, from the physical to the educational. They'll experience the cruelty and benelovence of all living-kind. They'll experience the consequences of their choices and the blessings of their rewards. They will grow to become useful to me, or die trying like all the others. As for you? The god reading our lives like a book, sitting in your chair without a care in the world? I will show you, the farce that is known as 'God'.

THE WHISPERS IN THIS DARK, CRUEL, AND GHOSTLY WORLD
(Vampires & Humans Vs. Werewolves & Ghosts???)It is the year 2201, and the human race is at war with not only the next evolution of the human race, werewolves, but also against Nature itself. An Ancient race of underground dwellers called vampires live and tries to protect humanity by bringing the human population underground in their habitat. The humans and Vampires live in fear of the werewolves, but that is not all, If this was the worst of it all, then it would have been a rather nice end for a good bedtime story about humans and vampires leaving in harmony underground, but this was not the end and neither is this a bedtime story. Nature (planet) still had big plans for the world, even with the creation of its henchmen, the werewolves (who have no control over themselves at all, merely acting based solely on their biological instincts), that was still not enough for nature. Nature still needed one last thing, something that could give those werewolves orders, tell them what to do, guide them, something that would be a personification of nature itself, something that would be nature's full power, with its wisdom and knowledge, something that would be its symbol. Ghosts.
