《It's just me and you》Chapter 4- Cater in Red

I wake up to my phone's alarm ringing. The alarm is unbearably annoying. I groan and pull it out of my pocket in order to disable it. God that sound traumatizes me every time.

I see that it's 10:00am and I have 2 missed calls from my father. I fix my car seat upwards and can't help but wince at my throbbing headache.

I reach over to my dashboard unlocking it and grabbing my bottle of Advil. I take 2 pills and chug it with some left over water that I had in my cup holder. Hopefully that eases some pain.

I look at myself through the rear view mirror. I look like I've been in a fight with raccoons, and lost. My cut looks alright, definitely better than last night.

I unlock my phone and return my fathers call.

"Hey dad what's up."

"I'm good just a bad headache."

"How did you-"

"Yeah, I already did."

"What? I mean don't get me wrong you know I love father daughter time but-"

I sigh and turn off my phone. Whenever my father tells me to wear something nice it means he's having a business party. Which means he's celebrating an achievement of some kind. I'm proud of him, of course. I just hate the parties, they're filled with prestigious douche bags that only care about themselves. They're wives however are always a bonus. They love talking to me, what can I say I'm a charmer.

I turn on my ignition and drive home.

After a long elevator ride I'm finally at my penthouse. I walk over to my couch and plop myself down to it. I didn't sleep well last night so I'm going to take a small power nap.

I wake up and check the time, it's 6:30pm. Shit shit shit. My fathers parties always start at 9:00pm. Which gives me a little over two hours to get ready. I quickly head over to my bathroom, turning the water on. I then head over to my record player and choose the song "Can't Take My Eyes off You" by Frankie Valli. My father use to play this song for my mother all the time and when they were happy they would dance to this song. I miss those days.

After my shower i get myself ready. I choose this all black suit designed by prada. I then throw on my plain Rolex watch that my father gifted me. Now I know it sounds like I'm a stuck up rich kid that gets daddy's money but that's besides the point. Over summer I work as his assistant because he wants me to take over some day. I earn the money I can by doing just as much work as him if not more.

I look at myself in the mirror and I'm happy with the way I cleaned myself up. The cut is still pretty visible but I don't want to put a band aid over it, so I'll just let It breathe.

I grab my keys and head out.

By the time I arrive at my fathers mansion, there's already a bunch of people making their way in and parking their cars. I park my car and walk up the stairs. I'm greeted by my fathers butler, Alfred. He's like a second father to me, he took care of me while my father worked and I'll forever be grateful to him.

He smiles and pulls his hand out for me to shake. I neglect his handshake and pull him into a hug.

"I missed you" I said breaking the hug.

"Don't be silly miss y/l/n. You saw me last week" he says teasingly.

I give him a shocked expression "A week is a very long time, Alfred. I missed bothering you." I smile at him.

As he's about to respond, he glances at my forehead and gives me a worried expression.

"You know me Alfred, I'm never one to back down from a fight." I say hoping he doesn't make a big deal out of this.

"What happened?" He says concerned.

"To sum it up for you, drunk guy at a bar and a modelo bottle." I say jokingly.

He shakes his head. "Y/N, you're going to get yourself seriously injured one day, think about your father. You'd be leaving him alone." He says sadly.

Not going to lie that hurt. My heart tightened at the thought of my father being by himself.

"He'd still have you." I say.

He gives me a small smile. "You don't always have to play the hero. Please be careful. For your father's sake...and mine." He whispers the last part, but I heard it.

"I will, I'm sorry Alf" I say giving him a weak smile. When I was a kid I could barely pronounce the name Alfred so I just said "alf" and that became his nickname.

He rolls his eyes at my response. He then glances over to my tie and sighs.

"After all these years, I thought I taught you how to properly make a tie" he says disappointingly.

He reaches over and fixes my tie.

"Maybe I purposely did it incorrectly so you could do it for me." I say jokingly.

He scoffs at my words. "Thanks Alfred, I truly did miss your presence." I say seriously.

"as did I miss y/l/n. Now get inside we can catch up later." He says softly.

I nod giving him a sincere look and part my ways with him. I make my way inside the house and see people talking and laughing with drinks in hand.

There are caters in red suits all around handing out glasses of champagne. This one cater catches my attention. She has brunette hair rolled into a messy bun. I walk through people to get a closer look, until my arm is grabbed. I turn around.

"Hey sweetie you made it!" My father says pulling me into a hug.

"Didn't think I had a choice dad." I say sternly and he smiles.

"So what's the occasion?" I ask.

"Our company is finally the highest stock market in America!" He says happily, pulling me in for another hug. He looks at me waiting for a response.

"Woah dad, I'm- I'm speechless. I'm so proud of you." I say in shock.

He smiles. "Thank you, the people you see here are my workers or people from competitive companies"

"Dad I'm truly proud on how you did all this. Im lucky to have you" I say sincerely.

He smiles trying not to get emotional but I can see his eyes are starting to water.

"Dad-"

He wipes his face. "No, I'm okay. Im just thankful to have you too sweetheart. Go on, go enjoy yourself I'll go do some business." He says winking at me.

"Alright, see you later" I say as I watch my father walk away and shake hands with a bunch of men and their wives.

He didn't notice the cut on my head which was good. I'm glad he was too exited to notice because he would've gotten furious. One time this guy bumped my shoulder while I was walking and my father threatened to sue him. My father doesn't take it lightly when something happens to me which I love and hate at the same time.

I walk over to the kitchen, occasionally waving at people I recognize. I open the fridge to look for a small snack, he always keeps it stocked in case I come over.

"I don't think you're allowed to be looking in there" a woman says.

I close the fridge and turn around. It's the cater I was stalking earlier. I'm taken aback, her eyes are green and she's stunning.

"Good to know my father hired someone who'd look out for his kitchen appliances." I say teasingly.

She furrows her brows in confusion still eyeing me down.

I clear my throat. "Nice to meet you, I'm y/n y/l/n." I smile at her.

Her eyes widen in shock. "Oh I'm uh sorry, you must be y/f/n daughter?" She asks nervously.

"Yes, I am and you must be?" I ask.

"I'm uh Elizabeth, so sorry for the confusion." She looks down playing with her hands.

"Hey, honest mistake. Ever since birth no one believed me to be related to him." I say trying to ease her nerves.

She looks up and gives me a weak smile.

"Now tell me if I'm being too forward but, what's a girl like you catering at a place like this?" I ask confidently.

Her smile widens and she turns her head to the side a little. "Girl like me? Place like this?" She asks squinting her eyes.

"My father doesn't usually hire young people. Take a look around." I say pointing at other caters.

A look of realization crosses her face. My father only hires people way above their 40s to cater at his parties because they have a sense of maturity and responsibility. Which makes me wonder, why her?

"Oh geez, I didn't realize." She says, I can see it in her eyes she's questioning my fathers reasoning as well as I am.

"He always has his reasons, maybe you'd be a great asset." I say smirking at her.

She rolls her eyes. "What do you mean by that?" She questions.

I lean over and whisper In her ear. "I guess we'll never know" I say teasingly, I feel her tense up at my words and in the corner of my eyes I see a blonde, an all too familiar blonde walking through the entrance.

A/N: hey guys this is probably the worst part I've written so far, sorry about that. Just bear with me it'll get better. Please let me know if this was too long or too short. Also I love criticism so feel free to leave some behind no matter how bad it is 😉 Have a goodnight xx.
