《Psychic》Ch72 - Penetrating Into the Soul

Ya Ya stood in place nervously, but also carried anticipation for what would come out of this 'psychic' experience.

Seeing that Fan Jialuo was still sitting on the sofa, she picked up a marker and proceeded to write on a white board that had been given to her in advance by the set director.

【Sister Nuannuan, do I need to raise my hand the way Sister Sisi did before?】

Song Wennuan looked at this line of writing with a conflicted expression, and finally thickened her face enough to ask, "Fan Jialuo, are you ready? Do you need our volunteers to raise their hands to cooperate with you?"

Prior to this, she hadn't even allowed him to move an inch.

Fan Jialuo shook his head, chuckled, and then refused, "No, just keep sitting. I can feel that this volunteer's energy is soft and open, and that this person is willing to accept being observed by me."

With just one sentence, he managed to point out the change in Ya Ya's mentality.

Ya Ya smiled, nodded and gave a thumbs-up.

At the beginning, she did feel some resistance and contempt for Fan Jialuo, but after witnessing the miracle that happened to Jie Furui with her own eyes, she began to yearn for that kind of heart-to-heart communication.

She held a lot of confusion in her heart. She needed a thoughtful person to help explain and guide her, because she couldn't find a way out on her own.

She didn't know if Fan Jialuo could give her an adequate answer for it, but she was looking forward to its final result nonetheless. In any case, it would count as being a novel experience of her attempting something new.

Fan Jialuo stretched out his hand, and then felt her through the void. His palm was facing the very same direction Ya Ya's palm was facing.

Even from across the distance of a few meters, Ya Ya's breathing and heartbeat involuntarily lost their rhythm. Each and every nerve terminal in her body transmitted a sense of dullness back to her brain, making her feel as if the air in her surroundings had solidified into a heavy film, which was itself made of air.

In contrast though, her thoughts and emotions surged through her body like crashing waves, stirring up the feelings of sadness and joy that had settled down long ago; excavating her hidden secrets; and even pushing her painstakingly-forgotten wound back to the cusp of her heart.

She kept sitting quietly, but no one around her knew what storms her mind was experiencing at that time, and even she herself did not know whether they were brought about naturally or being influenced by Fan Jialuo.

Lost in a trance, it was only at that moment that she suddenly understood the true meaning of the word 'psychic'.

It turned out that the human body and mind were merely a medium for such people-equivalent to the information either contained in a book or stored in the memory of a computer and a mobile phone, and it was this information that he could access and read so easily.

It's terrible, yet also amazing!

Ya Ya's eyes began to redden in response to internal agitation, but she was unable to move even a single finger of hers whilst under Fan Jialuo's control. She finally realized just what Jie Furui had been experiencing whilst she had been watching him from the sidelines with a smile.

It was not just the sensation of being seen through, all the way to the heart, but even the skin, bones, thoughts, and moreover, even the soul, were being penetrated completely.

It was only when Fan Jialuo retracted his hand and paused, waiting in silence, that Ya Ya could finally take a deep breath. The expression on her face was mixed with both surprise and excitement.

Her body was akin to some frozen substance that had been returned to a world that was full of spring flowers. All her perceptions and thoughts had slowly melted and were now reawakened after being frozen, making her more agile and sharper than ever.

Fan Jialuo's actions were not of the harmful kind, but instead, they provided a gentle comfort and healing.

When he had announced Jie Furui to be a man who was actually gentle to the world, he had also deliberately paused in his words for a period of time. Was that so that he could calm down?

Ya Ya couldn't help but smile at this thought. Her heart was completely open to this person.

Fan Jialuo waited for a couple of minutes before he began to describe, "A gentle body of energy, female, about 25 years old."

The director placed Ya Ya's ID card in front of the camera. It could be easily calculated from her date of birth that she was 25 years old this year. Of course, editing personal would make sure to blur out her ID card number later, before the scene could be broadcasted.

Fan Jialuo continued, "You are a very quiet person, it's easy for you to be ignored by the people around you, but you possess the ability to stand up and shoulder the heavy responsibilities that are brought about at critical moments.

"You are a very trustworthy and reliable partner. There is a vast energy hidden in your small body. The phrase 'iron fist in a velvet glove' seems to be tailor-made just for you."

Ya Ya covered her red face, too embarrassed to accept such praise. However, all the people present, who knew her, each gave their thumbs up in agreement.

Song Wennuan angled the microphone away and spoke into the camera in a low, inaudible manner, "Yes, Ya Ya is such a person. She doesn't like to say beautiful words, and only likes to show her sincerity with practical things. No matter how heavy the work I give her is, she will still finish it on time. She is the most reliable right hand I've ever had!"

Song Rui, whose eyes were intently fixed upon the talking youth who had his head lowered, sighed at this comment.

This person can really detect everything around him through his perception alone. Every word he has spoken is true, and is not a so-called act or trick.

Fan Jialuo leaned back in his chair, his tone becoming very brisk. "You are quiet and silent, but no one knows how colorful your heart is. At almost every moment, you are bursting with inspiration as fantastic ideas emerge in your mind.

"Some of them are very interesting and can make you laugh in secret; others are terrible and disturb you all night as you try to sleep; and some are very weird, ultimately leaving you confused for days on end.

"The people around you always worry that your closed-off personality makes you lonely, but they do not know that even if you are left alone, you will never truly be alone.

"You can live and experience a wonderful world by yourself because your rich imagination is your best friend. Others come from nation, and you come from imagination. You are creativity itself."

Song Wennuan and the other staff members of the TV station had no idea that Ya Ya still had such a different side to her, and could not help but look at her in astonishment.

Ya Ya's previous shy expression had now been replaced by seriousness. She attentively listened to each sentence being spoken by Fan Jialuo with excitement in her heart, while also feeling the joy of being understood and gaining affirmation.

Yes, Fan Jialuo is right.

Her real heart was exactly like this- like a fairytale kingdom brimming with colorful fantasies.

She could happily spend her whole day just lying in bed and doing nothing. Her heart was unrestricted-it was bright, rich and colorful. She had never known nor experienced the feeling of how boring it was to be alone.

No one knew she had such an innocent side except for herself. She had always tried to portray the image of being a successful career woman in the workplace, but in private, she was so whimsical.

Since her real face was now revealed to all by Fan Jialuo, Ya Ya was worried. She covered half of her face with her left hand, not daring to see how everyone had reacted.

Fan Jialuo frowned and changed the topic. "But recently, your heart has been full of struggle and confusion, because you are considering whether or not to leave someone who is very important to you."

Here is it. My biggest secret will be discovered... thought she.

Ya Ya continued to hide from everyone's eyes, especially those of Song Wennuan's, who was sitting not far from the testing area.

But Song Wennuan herself had no idea that her gaze was being avoided. She perked up her ears and stared at the person standing on the stage in the center of the room, as if waiting for some interesting gossip.

Song Rui glanced at her and shook his head with a smile.

Sometimes, being a fool was also a type of happiness. At least whenever they encountered pain, it wouldn't be of the kind that came too soon, only of the kind that came too suddenly.

Fan Jialuo slowly said, "This person is the center of your life; your friend, your teacher and your confidant. It is not a relative, but is someone who is even closer than a relative. From the time you stepped out into society, you started following her; what she is to you is what the sun is to the earth as it revolves around it.

"You admire her intelligence, appreciate her determination, and yearn for an ambition just like hers. To be exact, she is your guide and your role model. Without her, there would be no you. Without her, there would be no success for you."

Hearing these words, Song Wennuan fell into contemplation. The smile hanging on her face froze, and her heart trembled.

If she had heard correctly, wouldn't the person that Fan Jialuo just described be her? Ya Ya wanted to leave her? Why? Did she treat her badly?

Song Wennuan was dumbfounded. She stared at Ya Ya, who was on the stage with an expression full of disbelief and hurt.

Ya Ya slowly lowered her hand and looked back at Song Wennuan tearfully.

She had hesitated for so long, had struggled for so long, and had even given up on the idea of leaving several times, but she hadn't expected for it to be exposed in such a strange way today.

The two of them looked at each other in silence, with no words being spoken aloud, just their reddened eyes showing all their emotions.

All the staff members present knew what Ya Ya meant to Song Wennuan.

They were both friends and sisters at the same time. They knew each other best, and supported each other the most.

Even if others broke their friendship when differences surged between them, Song Wennuan and Ya Ya wouldn't. They would instead stick their hearts closer to each other and overcome the differences time and time again.

The atmosphere in the studio became extremely awkward as the silence spread into all corners.

However, Fan Jialuo continued to speak in his own rhythm, making it seem as if he had not perceived the tension in the studio. "Of course, you are very reluctant and sad, but as the days go by, you become more and more aware that this job does not bring you happiness.

"You placed yourself into this workplace, you worked hard and became a strong person for her, but your ideal job is not here.

"Turning all the wonderful ideas into words, turning them into images, and showing them to everyone-this is what your biggest dream has always been.

"However, you are unable to make a choice between dreams and friendship. Both of them are things that you love, hold dear and cherish. You don't want to give up either of them."

Fan Jialuo sighed. "I can tell you that you undoubtedly possess amazing talents, and your wings will certainly take you to higher places.

"In fact, the dilemma you have encountered isn't to pick from one of two choices. You are confused because you have never asked that person this question, and don't know how she would respond. What would the person you adore and love the most do when the reality meets the ideal?

"Will she imprison you, or will she hold you high and help you fly?"

Despite the fact that Fan Jialuo could not see past his blindfold, he still accurately turned his head to look straight at Song Wennuan.

It was impossible for Song Wennuan to ignore the penetrating gaze that had the ability to light a flame in her heart.

She quickly wiped away the tears that had formed at the corner of her eyes, and removed all the messy thoughts cluttering her mind.

Without hesitation, she lifted her fist as if saying-Go, do what you like!

Her eyes which were shooting across encouragement caused Ya Ya to choke in realization. Both of them cherished this friendship, neither would let it fall apart.

The staff members on the scene avoided the camera as they wiped their tears with the back of their hands. They had witnessed too much beauty and experienced too many heart-moving sensations today.

Fan Jialuo waited for the two people to calm their mood before slowly concluding, "Why was life created on earth? Because in addition to revolving naturally around the Sun, it also learned to rotate itself, and so do people."

"I see. I really understand. Thank you, Mr. Fan. Thank you so much for today." Ya Ya stood up and bowed to Fan Jialuo. Her tears fell one after another.

This appraisal had completely rescued her from her dilemma. She could now clearly see the way forward, and would no longer hesitate nor struggle. Of course, the more wonderful thing was that, not only did she not lose her most important friend, instead, she gained a purer friendship.

She covered her crying face and ran off the stage. Song Wennuan immediately stood up and hugged the figure that had rushed over to her tightly.

"Silly girl, if you have an idea in your mind, you should tell me directly! I know you like screenwriting. Haven't I been looking for a teacher for you?

"I've thought about it for a long time. I'll open a Film and Television studio and you'll be my gold medal screenwriter. We'll make a great movie together!

"Don't feel sorry for me, you have your own life. If you fly higher and farther, I will only be happy for you!" Song Wennuan said with a cry.

"I know, Sister Nuannuan. Sister, you really are my Sister Nuannuan, you are so warm!"

Ya Ya cried and laughed, releasing all her repressed emotions. She looked very embarrassed, but also so very happy, just like a child.

Another round of applause sounded out in the studio. There was no doubt that Fan Jialuo had once again hit the softest and most authentic feelings of the volunteer with perfect accuracy.

His psychic powers were so incredible that the previous accusations of cheating now appeared to be an utter joke.

Song Wennuan and Ya Ya finally separated, then held hands and walked out of the room, so that they could go wash their faces and touch up their makeup.

Twenty minutes later, the program resumed its recording.

Fan Jialuo waited for the ladies patiently in silence, his hands clasped under his chin.

It was not until then that people realized just how elegant, gentlemanly and soft-hearted he was. He truly deserved the respect of all the staff.

"Mr. Fan, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting." When she returned, the tear-free Song Wennuan even used honorifics to address him.

She said 'Mr. Fan' without the slightest hint of reluctance in her tone.

Song Rui sneered as he shot her a glance, but she still had the cheek to smile at Fan Jialuo, even though the other party couldn't see anything.

"It's okay," Fan Jialuo said, waving his hand casually. He tilted his head slightly and 'looked at' Yu Yuntian, who had been left sitting on the stage by himself.

Yu Yuntian nodded to him with a smile. His posture seemed to show that he was very calm.

In contrast, Song Rui's calm eyes began to flicker. He changed his previous posture and went from sitting lazily to sitting up straight.

The scene he had been anticipating the most was finally about to begin.

Song Wennuan, however, did not notice the surging dark tide that lurked under this calm appearance, and was currently simply looking forward to the appraisal her boyfriend would gain.

What would Fan Jialuo say? Would he praise her boyfriend's achievements? Analyze his aesthetic and moral character? Expose their increasingly sweet and tacit feelings?

No matter what he said, it should be something beautiful, right?

However, the smile on her face was soon shattered by reality.

Fan Jialuo raised his eyebrows and asked, "Fear, panic, evasion, regret. You are resisting me, and very strongly at that. Why?"

Song Wennuan turned to look at her boyfriend in a hurry, but only saw the other spread his arms out and shrug his shoulders as he laughed helplessly. He didn't seem to know why the person appraising him would make such a remark.

Song Wennuan soothed down the sudden panic that had arisen in her heart.

Fan Jialuo slowly walked onto the stage and directly approached Yu Yuntian. He 'looked' down at the other, and his eyes, which were wrapped in thick black cloth, seemed to be able to penetrate through all tangible objects to see the true essence of things.

Yu Yuntian looked up at him with a relaxed smile on his face. He didn't stand up, he just lifted his hand and cooperated with the other's manner of working.

He thought that by doing so, he would be able to pass the test without any incidents taking place. But unfortunately, no matter how much he resisted, the invisible magnetic field still quietly wrapped around him as it slowly infiltrated and started to influence him...

He was like a living body that had strayed from a three-dimensional space into a two-dimensional space, and was slowly compressed into a thin piece of paper by Fan Jialuo's consciousness- giving said person a completely unobstructed view into his very being.
