《Psychic》Ch45 - It's Just A Coincidence

After the complete termination of all business dealings with Su Fengxi and her studio, the top floor of the Xinghui Entertainment Company's building-the President's Office-saw an unprecedentedly busy day.
From the company executives to the managers of the PR Department, from the Publicity Department to the Security Department, and from the company's legal team to their accounting team, numerous elite figures were frequently seen walking in and out of the CEO's office.
Each of them bore with the heavy workload on their shoulders for the sake of achieving only one goal-to push Su Fengxi onto a road of no return.
"Mr. Zhao, this is the indictment you asked for. Please have a look."
The company's Chief Lawyer then handed a document over to Zhao Wenyan.
The latter read its content carefully, personally modified a few vague sections, and then signed his name on it.
After receiving the signed document, the Chief Lawyer was still a little worried about the whole situation and inquired further, "Mr. Zhao, are you sure you want to sue Miss Su Fengxi?"
"Very sure. If you don't think I should sue her, then our partnership must be terminated immediately."
Zhao Wenyan stared at the Chief Lawyer's face and frowned severely.
He was clearly aware of just how strange Su Fengxi's charm was. He had to be extremely cautious-every tree or bush could have an enemy soldier hiding beneath it.
He had spent five years witnessing her rise in the industry and the glory she gained from it, and during this time, had clearly observed her incredible 'hunting' ability as well.
It was no exaggeration to say-As long as it's a man she's interested in, there's no one she can't hook.
The most disturbing factor in all this was that even if it was a man with a high status or a man known for being ill-tempered, he would become completely obedient after maintaining contact with Su Fengxi for a period of time.
-So obedient that he would even tolerate her promiscuity and misbehavior.
Of course, this wasn't normal.
However, the people around her didn't seem to even notice the strangeness of all this and considered it to be a normal thing.
-So terrible.
Zhao Wenyan couldn't guarantee that she hadn't slipped one or two hidden pawns into his company ranks at some point in time within the last five years, so he could only continue to maintain a skeptical attitude towards all other men and stay on high alert for any actions taken against him or his company.
Fortunately, Su Fengxi wasn't interested in women at all. Otherwise, he would have no choice but to screen all the company employees surrounding him!
The Chief Lawyer understood the hint being given and immediately explained, "Mr. Zhao, I'm just worried that you will change your mind later. After all, you've always been on good terms with Miss Su Fengxi. You do know, once the indictment is filed, it'll be too late to go back."
"I will not go back on my decision," Zhao Wenyan said resolutely.
"Alright. I will proceed with the lawsuit. We have a lot of strong evidence against her in this case. Our chances of winning are very high. Mr. Zhao, please wait for the good news."
The Chief Lawyer made his way to the sofa, where Zhao Guoan was seated, and bowed to the other before leaving the office with the stack of documents.
Zhao Guoan then walked up to the desk and glared fiercely at his grandson, just like a tiger would at its prey, and asked, "I am also curious about the very thing your lawyer asked about. You have had very good feelings for Su Fengxi up until now. Do you really want to terminate her contract? Break your relationship with her? Weren't you the one who was ready to go bankrupt just moments ago, all just so that you could fulfill her wish?"

After having observed his grandson throughout this entire predicament, Zhao Guoan could determine that it wasn't just a pretense, his grandson really did want to completely sever all relationship ties with Su Fengxi.
However, the 'him' from a few moments ago was so different. He was deeply in love with Su Fengxi and obeyed her to the point of no regret-even if his decision could cause Xinghui's destruction.
He found it difficult to understand.
How could his grandson make two such vastly contrasting decisions within just a short space of time?
Could it be that something was wrong with his head?
Zhao Wenyan led his grandfather to his previous seat, only to see that Fan Jialuo, whose body was half-reclined on the soft single sofa chair nearby, seemed to have fallen asleep.
He didn't know if it was simply an illusion, but Fan Jialuo's face looked rosier, rather than paler, after having absorbed the large quantity of negative energy contained in his body.
This person was aware that everyone was busy, and so had quietly waited for him at this very spot.
Upon looking at this person's face, Zhao Wenyan seemed to forget all the disputes and entanglements he had suffered in the past, and only the serene moments in his life remained in his mind.
Zhao Wenyan stared at this tranquil face for a while. His thoughts tumbled over themselves a few times before his cheeks gradually started to redden.
Upon thinking of the pain the other had experienced due to the cyber violence directed at him online, and his own act of being a 'passerby' through it all, he really wanted to dig a deep hole to hide himself in.
He pointed at Fan Jialuo and then placed his finger on his lips in a silent gesture as he told his grandfather in a low but audible voice, "I'll explain it to you when he wakes up."
"I wasn't asleep."
No one knew when but at some point in time, Fan Jialuo had already opened his eyes and woken up, steadily gazing at the grandfather-grandson pair.
"It's not Gu, not black magic, nor a ghost or spirit, but rather a kind of charm-type power. Those who fall for her charm will then find themselves passionately in love with her to the point of death. Only those who have strong willpower can resist the attraction of her charm.
"Fortunately, your willpower is stronger than most people, so you were the only one around her who could occasionally escape her control and regain consciousness.
"However, that was also your biggest misfortune, for you had to then soberly watch yourself fall into destruction." Without either of them asking, Fan Jialuo explained Zhao Wenyan's situation.
He glanced at the dumbstruck Zhao Guoan for a second and continued, "My ability is still very weak. It's not strong enough to help you completely rid yourself of her influence yet. So, you must avoid meeting her.
"Your decision of having bodyguards around you all the time is very good. If you have no choice but to meet with her, please keep in mind that you should not look into her eyes, and get away from her presence within five minutes of coming face-to-face with her. That's all I can help you with for now. About our deal-"
Zhao Wenyan, who had been anxious to find an opportunity that would help recover the relationship between them, quickly interrupted, "I'll help you solve it right away!"
Not wasting even a second, he called the staff in the Accounting Department and quickly instructed them to pay off the 80 million yuan, for the liquidated damage that Fan Jialuo had caused, through the company's account, while specially stating that he was personally funding it.

Compared to 10 billion, this 80 million could only be described to be a very small amount.
Fan Jialuo was very satisfied with the results he had obtained from this visit. The corners of his lips rose up slightly and formed a shallow arc.
Zhao Guoan had no time to digest the huge amount of information that had just been divulged before he saw his grandson rush out of the office to follow Fan Jialuo, just to send him back.
"Wait!" The old man suddenly awoke from his stupor and hurriedly asked, "You have been taking antidepressants for five years, has it affected your body?"
All the other things could be discussed at home, but his grandson's health and any potential issues was a top priority.
Zhao Wenyan looked back and said, "Grandpa, you can be rest assured that I took the medicine as per the doctor's instructions. As long as I stop taking it for a period of time, I will be fine. I'm going to send Fan Jialuo home now. Grandpa, you can return home first. We'll talk about it tonight."
"Good, good. Come back early!"
Zhao Guoan was still worried, but he didn't ask any more questions. From Fan Jialuo's words, he had already guessed that the relationship between his grandson and Su Fengxi was not so simple.
It was not until then that he suddenly remembered-wasn't this Fan Jialuo the same one who had been scolded so fiercely on the Internet by the netizens before?
He also heard that this person could predict people's death. A psychic?
The old man left the company premises with a great headache building up while Zhao Wenyan was already driving his car on the road.
He was racking his brain and thinking about what topic he should pick in order to chat some more with Fan Jialuo, when the latter's phone rang.
It was a call from the police station, asking for his assistance in the investigation of a case.
"Why is it the police again?"
Zhao Wenyan was very worried, but the person who received the call just smiled calmly, as if this matter was completely unrelated to him.
He said, "If we pass a bakery on the way, please make a stop. I want to buy something."
Half an hour later, the two of them arrived at the Chengdong Police Station.
Zhao Wenyan waited in the Reception Room while Fan Jialuo was questioned in the interrogation room.
Placed on the table in front of him was a photo of a bloody Sister Qing, along with images of the screenshots of the conversation that had taken place between them in Weibo's private messaging chat log.
For all the questions that were posed at him, Fan Jialuo answered with only one sentence, "It's just a coincidence."
But where in the world would such a terrible coincidence exist?
However, aside from the argument that it wasn't a coincidence, the police had no way to prove that Fan Jialuo had the ability to control that black cat from a distance tens of kilometers away.
This was without mentioning the fact that he had never come into contact with that black cat, thus ruling out the possibility of any psychological suggestions.
Then again, could cats even be manipulated with psychological suggestions? Impossible!
"Let him go."
The Captain of the Criminal Police Team helplessly closed the file in which Fan Jialuo's statement was being recorded.
Fan Jialuo slowly rose from his seat and walked towards the door.
As he passed by the one-way mirror, he slightly turned his head and nodded in that direction, a warm smile pasted on his face.
Instead of focusing on his own reflection in the mirror, his eyes had shifted slightly to the left, as if he was looking at a specific person.
Upon observing this, the police officers in the interrogation room broke out into a cold sweat, because they knew that behind the mirror stood two of his old acquaintances.
Fan Jialuo's sudden nod towards the mirror, wasn't it the same as the greeting one gave to one's acquaintance?
But how did he become aware of their presence?
From the moment he had entered the police station, he had been taken directly into the interrogation room, and no one had spoken even half a word to him during this transit!
This is truly mysterious!
After fearfully sending Fan Jialuo off, the Captain rushed into the monitoring room and asked, "Did he just greet the two of you? Did I see it correctly? Both of you were standing in the exact same direction that he looked toward!"
Zhuang Zhen didn't reply, but Yang Shengfei could help but say in an agitated tone, "Yes, his eyes looked straight at me. He knew that I was here!"
"Tsk. You managed to fight against this person twice, not bad! I was completely affected by him during this meeting! His eyes especially, they were so deep that I didn't dare to look straight at him at all!"
Recalling the sensation of his entire person being penetrated by that pair of black eyes, the Captain couldn't help but rub at the goosebumps that had risen on his arm and gulped in a panicked manner.
Yang Shengfei asked in a tone tainted with fear, "Did you get a frightful sensation, like that of being completely exposed in front of his eyes?"
"Yes, that was the feeling. If he had spoken a three-minute prophecy about me, I'm afraid I wouldn't have been able to hold on!"
Yang Shengfei wanted to say something more but stopped himself, and then looked at Zhuang Zhen's eyes with a somewhat pleading expression on his face.
Zhuang Zhen firmly said, "Xiao Fei, I know you desperately want to prove to me that Fan Jialuo is indeed a psychic, but I prefer to trust my own judgment. I have also researched and checked a lot of information these past few days. Do you know the number of cases in the world that have been solved with the involvement of psychics in their investigation?"
Yang Shengfei asked with anticipation, "How many?"
"Less than 1% were successfully solved. In short, there is no scientific or factual basis for the involvement of psychics in solving a case. If we take your sister's case directly to Fan Jialuo without even checking it out first, can you guarantee that he won't lead us further down a twisted road and away from the truth? My opinion is that we investigate the case first and contact him if we reach a dead end, using him as our last resort. What do you think?"
Yang Shengfei was silent.
For his family, his sister's death was a wound that would never heal.
Whether the culprit was alive or dead, he and his family were the ones who had suffered because of this, and were still suffering. He couldn't wait any longer.
However, his rational side told him that Zhuang Zhen was right.
Only desperate people would turn in the direction of spiritual beings for help.
His sister's case wasn't far from reaching the point of despair and hopelessness. But if he hadn't exerted so much of his own effort on this matter already, and still not have any results to show for it he really wouldn't have been willing to ask for help.
"Well, we will first investigate the case, and only if we hit a dead-end will we then go and find Fan Jialuo!" He nodded his head as he finally and firmly declared this stance.
Zhuang Zhen heaved a sigh of relief.
He repeatedly thanked the Chengdong Branch's police force and then bought train tickets for Mobei.
At that very moment, Zhao Wenyan, who was sending Fan Jialuo back home in his car, reached the Moon Bay Garden Community.
At Building 1's entrance stood a slender and elegant man, who looked as if he was waiting for someone.
He was surrounded by a few tall and robust bodyguards, all of whom were carrying heavy metal cases.
It was truly a display of splendor.
It was only as the distance between them and the car gradually closed that Zhao Wenyan could finally make out the other man's appearance.
He frowned.
Because this man turned out to be the one who had only recently successfully annexed two medium-sized companies in the business industry-Bai Mu.
Who is he waiting for?
Those metal cases are full of money, aren't they?
...
Noks: Ohhhhh... a (monetary) showdown between two potential MLs...
Qiuxue: Haha, the real ship is actually Fan Jialuo and money. Or negative energy, nom.
