《Psychic》Ch17 - Witnessing A Miracle

In the observation room, the two young police officers who were with Liu Tao were currently doubting life because of the scene taking place before their eyes. Through a one-way mirror, this man was somehow able to describe a person's age, gender, personality, family circumstances, and even predict the upcoming phone call from his mother. Even the content of the call was extremely accurate. Is this for real?
Even if they watched the scene with their own eyes and heard the words with their own ears, it was still difficult for the two policemen to believe what Fan Jialuo had just done, because if they truly believed it, their outlook on life and the world would collapse.
They looked at each other, then whispered, "Could it be a coincidence?"
"It must be a coincidence!"
"There are too many coincidences in the world, and this must also be one of them." The two quickly reaffirmed and solidified their faith in atheism by mutually supporting each other.
Liu Tao clenched his cell phone, and his mood remained turbulent for a long time. He had become the subject of this unscientific event. Any other person would be able to brush it off as just a coincidence, but Liu Tao couldn't. Only the person themself, to whom Fan Jialuo had pointed his finger at, would have a deep and clear understanding of the feeling that arose in that moment; it was as if his soul was being pierced through by him.
Every pore in Liu Tao's body was being infiltrated by Fan Jialuo's divine senses. His thoughts were being integrated into these divine senses, and they couldn't help but rush out from his body and willingly present themselves to be captured by the other side.
In fact, if Liu Tao did not have a greater sense of determination than most other people, he would have been clinging to the mirror under the traction of that pale and slender finger.
No, it's not a coincidence. Liu Tao expressed silently.
Zhuang Zhen and Song Rui, who were sitting in the interrogation room, couldn't see the scene occuring on the other end of the mirror at all, so they didn't know whether what Fan Jialuo was saying was correct or not. At present, they still believed that Fan Jialuo was speaking nonsense, and their expressions thus became more and more indifferent. If observed carefully, a hint of irony could be seen hidden in their eyes. But Luo Hong was in doubt, and his atheist faith was slowly crumbling.
Fan Jialuo shifted the direction in which his outstretched finger was pointed to, and with his eyelids half closed, he said, "This man is very interesting, young but not active, very quiet. Huh?" He suddenly tilted his head slightly and chuckled twice. "0, 1, 0, 1—why? Do these two numbers mean anything to you? I can see that they have completely occupied your mind."
Zhuang Zhen leaned back in his chair, his hands folded against his chest, and his smile was full of cold ridicule. This person had stated that he was a psychic, and it seemed that he really knew how to play this role well. He was indeed worthy of being part of the entertainment circle!
Song Rui was also bored. He removed his gold-rimmed glasses and slowly wiped them. He had already decided on the next steps he would have to take in this interrogation. In any case, so long as Fan Jialuo wanted to perform his so-called 'psychic' act, he must let him perform. Perhaps, they might also catch some flaws in the process.

Luo Hong's burning eyes were fixed on Fan Jialuo's figure, and he looked at the 'mysterious' one-way mirror while thinking: he's totally bluffing.
The young police officer who was being pointed at by Fan Jialuo's middle finger, looked to his left and right, and then strongly denied, "I haven't been thinking about 0 and 1 in my mind! He's talking bullshit!"
"I knew he was a scammer! A scammer being so audacious as to act in a police station while being interrogated , his courage is really higher than the sky! Now that we are reviewing the case , apart from the details of the case, what else could he be thinking about? 0 and 1? He is obviously making it up!" His companions also made wry remarcs.
In the next second, however, they were both left stunned by Fan Jialuo's words.
"Well, I see." His finger was still pointed at the young police officer's nose, but his eyes were now completely closed. He felt around silently for a moment, and said gently, "It turns out that it is not only these two numbers, but a big net. In this net, you can swim freely and you feel very safe and comfortable. You have imprisoned yourself, but no one knows that you are actually freer than most people in the world. You are very satisfied with your present life and reject all changes to it. But even if this is the case, you should tell your family frankly. They are worried about you."
0 and 1? Big net? Safe and comfortable to stay in the net?
That same young police officer was startled by Fan Jialuo's words and appeared to have suddenly been enlightened. He was a network technician in the Criminal Police Department, generally engaged in information trawling, and was very proficient with hacker technology. He was also very much a homebound man in his private life. He didn't have any particular interests aside from surfing the Internet.
Due to the nature of his employment, he wasn't frequently required to go to the police station. And during the time that he did come to the Bureau, he just played around on the computer. Then when he returned home, he would continue to play on the computer. Generally, he would never leave his house if there were no particularly important circumstances.
Although he felt that he had a good life, his family was very dissatisfied with his way of living. They arranged blind dates for him practically every day, hoping that love or marriage would be able to push him into living a more normal life. Whenever this occured, he would firmly reject his family's arrangements since he really neither had any plans to marry nor have children. Those sort of things would only add trouble to his already perfect life.
Just moments ago, he had thought that all the words being uttered by Fan Jialuo's were nonsense, but now, he unexpectedly realized that every word of his was laden with profound meaning, and there was indeed not a single false word being spoken. In short, how magical was Fan Jialuo's ability to be able to describe his past, present and future in such a holistic manner?
The young technician looked at the figure across the mirror in horror.
However, his companion still maintained a stubborn stance. He said in a low voice, "Could he have known about you long before this? After all, who in our bureau doesn't know about your trivial matters?"
The technician shook his head stiffly and lapsed into silence like Liu Tao.
In the interrogation room, Zhuang Zhen's and Song Rui's expressions changed a little, as they both knew that Xiao Li, the only network technician of the First Criminal Police Team, was currently in the observation room next door. This person, just as Fan Jialuo had described, was a highly skilled hacker, a homebody and a celibate, and because of this, he was facing some conflict with his family.

Luo Hong also knew that Xiao Li was on the other side of the mirror. Hearing this, his hand that was propped under his chin slipped and he almost fell. Even this can be sensed by Fan Jialuo?!
With each person caught in their own thoughts, not a single person had discovered that the atmosphere in the interrogation room had become increasingly solid and heavier. The pressure and magnetic field that radiated from him had captured everyone's attention, and had made him the center of focus in the room.
His eyes were still closed, and his pale face, illuminated by the incandescent lamp, carried a transparent luster, as if showcasing a mysterious solemnity.
His long, slender, and pale finger continued to move to the side, finally pointing at the young police officer who was still internally struggling in the corner, trying to deny all his words. Fan Jialuo's red lips parted slightly, but no sound was heard coming from his mouth for a long time.
When the young police officer looked up, his pupils were filled with a myriad of emotions, such as suspicion and disdain, along with accusations toward Fan Jialuo's despicableness.
He believed that he had seen through Fan Jialuo's tricks. Everything the other side had previously said could easily be discovered through just a little inquiry at the bureau. As for how he was able to accurately locate the various positions of all the people inside the observation room, it was probably just by coincidence or a lucky guess.
In any case, he's simply scamming us!
As the young police officer tried to concentrate and reduce the sensation of being openly read, the other party whispered aloud.
Fan Jialuo shook his head, and his voice was full of sorrow. "I saw tears, many, many tears, tears shed by different people. Under a drizzle, in front of the tomb, a huge bouquet of lilies buried with a young life. You seem to have been very young, five or six years old? But you had already understood everything at that time.
"You threw down the yellow rose in your hand, for it was her favorite. And because of your extreme sadness, you nearly fell into the grave too. Fortunately, you managed to stabilize yourself, but you still knelt down and cried loudly in your hoarse voice. From that moment on, anger has always burned in your heart and will continue to do so until the day of your death..."
"What-What's all this about?" The technician, Xiao Li's scalp, had turned numb.
Fan Jialuo's voice was ethereal, clear and gentle—people couldn't help but be attracted to it. Moreover, every word he spoke was laden with deep emotion, embedding itself into the secrets he unravelled. These words, which were soaked with sadness and then followed by silence, were like thorns, suddenly pricking the listener's eardrums before travelling to the heart, where they caused a lot of unbearable and unspeakable pain.
Yang Shengfei, the young policeman who was pointed at, stiffly held his composure, but his eyes had unconsciously turned red. His entire person seemed to have been pulled back into the most painful and angry moment of his life, it was so intense that even his soul was shaking. He wanted to thrash the mirror and stop Fan Jialuo from continuing, but his body was frozen in place by that finger.
Fan Jialuo sighed softly, and became silent for a while.
Xiao Li had to hit Yang Shengfei's shoulders to catch his attention. He repeatedly asked about the meaning of Fan Jialuo's words, which caused Yan Shengfei to shudder and awaken from the nightmarish memory. He wiped away the tears he had unbiddenly shed at some point in time, and then wrenched open the door of the observation room, slamming it shut as he left in a hurry.
The sound of the door slamming shut almost deafened Liu Tao and Xiao Li's ears, it was so loud that even Zhuang Zhen and the others next door heard it. Judging by Yang Shengfei's response alone—Fan Jialuo was right.
Xiao Li kept patting his madly beating heart and asked cautiously, "Vice-captain, what do you think about the words that Fan Jialuo just spoke? A Fei... his family is dead? But his grandparents and father died naturally from illnesses, there shouldn't have been a need to be so angry, right?"
"I don't know. People always have secrets. Don't ask about it anymore." Liu Tao looked over at Fan Jialuo, who was on the other side of the mirror, and his heart filled with awe. Yes, people always had secrets, and those who could break into this hidden heart and reveal such secrets at a glance were probably the most terrible existences in the world. This Fan Jialuo might truly be a psychic, but he was also a monster!
"There was a noise in the next room just now. I'll see what's going on." Luo Hong was still young, and his mind had become unstable over the past few minutes. He left his pen and ran out of the interrogation room, displaying his inexperience in handling such matters. He was really quite curious to know whether Fan Jialuo's words were true, especially what he had said about Yang Shengfei.
After a while, Liao Fang entered the room to take over and continue recording notes. She gingerly glanced at Fan Jialuo, apparently she had already heard some rumors.
Fan Jialuo took back his left hand, turned to Zhuang Zhen who was sitting opposite him, and slowly opened his mouth. "Thirty six scars for twenty-one meritorious deeds, you are a hero. Your heart is always threatened by fragments of shrapnel. Is that why you retired? But if I may speak the truth, it's not this shrapnel that will really threaten your life, but you yourself. It's easy to have a breakdown. This is my advice to you."
The information regarding the record of injuries, the achievements of meritorious service and the reasons for his discharge from the army were not even known to the Bureau Chief. In order not to be treated differently, Zhuang Zhen had even asked the army to encrypt the information, but at that moment, Fan Jialuo had neatly laid it all bare.
Zhuang Zhen was certain that the army would never sell information on their veterans, so his face immediately became more solemn. He was afraid that this person's background was much more complicated than what their investigation results suggested.
Liao Fang stared at the Leader with wide eyes, staring especially at his heart, and her expression exposed her belief in these words.
Looking at Song Rui, who had always been listening carefully, Fan Jialuo smiled more softly. "Dr. Song, you are the most interesting person here."
"Oh? Then I wish to hear the details." Song Rui nodded politely, but in fact, he didn't care about it at all. What he was doing was just mind reading. People who were proficient in psychology would be able to discern a little. Fan Jialuo could make others believe his bluff, but not him.
With his right hand outstretched and his palm hanging in front of Song Rui's face, Fan Jialuo seemed to absorb his emotions and energy. An invisible magnetic field enveloped Song Rui, causing him to stiffen. His previous disapproval was suddenly replaced by a strong sense of being threatened.
At the same time, Fan Jialuo slowly opened his mouth, "I see a black hole in your heart. No, to be more precise, it's an abyss."
The smile on Song Rui's lips disappeared with the utterance of this sentence.

Transformers: Heroes
Heroic Decepticons Alternate Universe. A century ago, the eons-old war between the Autobots and the Decepticons suddenly and inexplicably came to an end. Since then, many have gone their separate ways, whilst others still hold onto the bitter memories of war. Now, as Autobots and Neutrals join forces in a new directive to capture every Decepticon still left alive, it appears that the Autobots will finally get their chance to even the score, and defeat their enemies once and for all. But when they become the target of seemingly random, yet terrifying attacks, some begin to realize that the enemy may be much closer to home than anyone could have ever imagined. Author's Notes: While it helps to have a little bit of prior knowledge about the world of Transformers, you don't need to be a Transformers fan to enjoy this story, or even a Decepticons fan! One thing I can say for sure is that it is unlike any Transformers fan fiction you've ever come across. This story aims to explore one possible set of motivations in depth in a setting of ongoing conflict between the Autobots (and, more recently, the Alliance - a collaboration between Autobots and Neutrals) and the Decepticons. Although this story takes a lot of things from the G1 cartoon, it is by no means strictly G1 toon oriented and introduces characters and/or ideas from other continuities (Sentinel Prime, Jhiaxus, Thunderblast and Rook (not the Autobot Rook - the other Rook!). Set primarily on Cybertron and Alternity City, it also deviates from certain key elements common in Transformers canon. For one thing, the general consensus that all Autobots are good and all Decepticons are bad is challenged, and a new meaning to the motivations behind their conflict is offered (which is a recurring theme in my Heroic Decepticons Alternate Universes). Some personalities have been altered from their canonical profiles as a necessity (Megatron being the most obvious example) and developed to a much deeper level than the original cartoon allowed. I hope you enjoy and thanks for reading.
