Rohit was in his room pacing thinking what would have happened to Ritika. Was she okay?
If I ask in reception then it would be spread all over? How do I get her phone number or room number? I just want to know if she is okay!
Sometimes I so wish I had this pranking brain or stupid ideas brain of Vi!
He would have some crazy ideas for this situation but I can't tell him because he will tease me for life as I am still not sure how I feel for her.
"Ro, what are you doing here? Let's go, we are planning to go for a walk around!" Virat said barging into his room.
"Why can't you for once come in like a normal person?" Asked Rohit as he was jerked out of his thoughts which kind of made him irritated.
"Ok.." Virat said in a low voice and moved out of the room with his head down.
Rohit was shocked by that, he thought Virat felt bad. He was about to call him to apologize when he heard a knock.
"May I come in Rohit sir? I hope am not disturbing you and your precious time." Virat said cheekily yet maintaining the professional tone which was non existent in their friendship.
Rohit rolled his eyes at his drama. He was happy that Virat was not offended.
"If you are free from your non-existent thoughts then would you like to come for a walk with us." Virat added to that.
Rohit was chuckling at that tone and then could not control himself, they both bursted out laughing.
"Nautanki hai tu sachi! Dramebaaz!" Said Rohit still laughing on his professional tone.
"Abhi kya karu, normal people talk like this! And me talking normal with you is next to impossible and on rare occasions only" Virat said shrugging his shoulders.
Rohit smiled at that. He would not have it in any other way.
"Chal, Mahi bhai wait kar rahe hai!" Said Virat dragging him to the lobby.
They reached in lobby and went outside when Rohit stopped in his tracks gaining attention of Mahi and Virat, others had went a bit ahead.
"What's wrong?" Mahi asked in concern seeing discomfort on Rohit's face.
Virat looked at him in concern too but found a different expression on his face. Rohit avoided the hawk eye look of Virat.

"Wo, I am feeling weird suddenly! Stomach cramp it seems" Rohit said holding his stomach.
Virat looked at him suspiciously. Rohit held his stomach more tightly as he saw Virat eyeing him.
"from when do u get stomach cramps?" Virat asked because it was the first time he had heard it from Rohit.
"umm,wo.. I ate outside this morning so may be uske wajah se!" Rohit said fumbling on his words.
"Okay bhai, you go with others! I am staying with Ro.. he may need something and also we need to get checked from the doctor" Virat said or declared.
"nahi nahi, its okay.." Rohit said immediately in a loud voice to which Virat looked at him with narrow eyes.
"I mean i will just sleep for sometime and I will be okay, Vi u go!" Rohit tried to cover up.
"Are you sure Ro?" Mahi asked him in doubt and Virat also looked at him still in doubt.
"Yes bhai! Vi.. its just one hour, I will be okay!" Rohit said knowing how worried Virat gets.
"Take care, call us if u need anything!" Mahi said dragging Virat along.
Rohit stood there a min to make sure that they went from there and then ran, literally ran towards terrace.
He saw the most beautiful sight he had ever seen in his life, Ritika sitting there staring the stars. She was looking so beautiful in white top.
Her face shining in the moonlight, her eyes finding answers in them. She was the most beautiful girl, he thought.
Rohit sat beside her which got her startled. But as soon as she saw him she calmed down.
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you!" He said softly.
Ritika smiled at that but the smile didn't reach her eyes as it was when they had first met.
"You okay?"
"I guess so, it will pass through the night" she replied and continued gazing the sky.
He himself don't know why but Rohit didn't like her silent like that. He wanted to take that worry away from her which was bothering her so much.
"ok, let me tell you something.." Rohit said after thinking for sometime.
Ritika turned her attention from the stars to him.
"You know I was playing first class cricket and it was an important match for the club. I got late due to Mumbai traffic and then local train. Due to which I left my kit bag in local only. I was so upset because that kit bag was like with me from the time I started playing cricket." Rohit said remembering that incident.

Ritika was keenly listening and didn't miss the shine in his eyes when he spoke about cricket and that adorable smile on his lips when he reminisced about his old days.
"Then what happened?" Ritika asked curiously.
"Then I felt like that I could not play without that..
My coach came to me and said one thing which I can never forget." Rohit said remembering that.
"What did he say?" She asked.
"He said to me Rohit this kit bag may be very special to you and everyone has their love for their firsts. But thinking that you can't play without it is just your imagination. Your love for sport and your passion will take you forward and in this journey there will be many kit bags which will be part of that journey. From this match new phase of your journey starts with the new kit bag." Rohit completed remembering it fondly.
Ritika had a soft smile listening to that and it made her a little better has her problem was somewhat the same.
Rohit softly took her hands in his which surprised her a little. But it felt good to her so she didn't take it back which encouraged him a bit.
"I don't know what thing has disturbed you as per my guess it's something professional. Even if it is something other than that I just want to say that everything teaches us something important in life which helps us in long run so don't dwell over it and learn from it" Rohit said softly caressing her knuckles with his thumb.
Ritika felt so good hearing that. His hands had a soothing effect on her, gave her a content feeling.
"And this creased forehead look doesn't suit you. So smile please otherwise kids in the hotel will look at you and get scared" Rohit said lightning the air.
"How mean!" She said pouting to which Rohit just laughed.
"Chalo now let's have a coffee, I know a place" Rohit said getting up and offering her his hand.
Ritika accepted it but tripped on her leg which caused her to fall onto Rohit. He held her firmly with his hand on her waist.
Ritika looked at him and thought how beautiful eyes he had, the kind that you get lost in and I guess I did.
It seemed like time had stopped for them. They just stood there looking in each other's eyes drowning in them under the beautiful sky filled with stars shining bright.
Rohit was the first one to break the gaze due to his phone ring to which he cursed internally at the timing. Ritika straightened up sensing that.
"So let's go come on!" Rohit said not paying attention at the phone and took her hand in his.
Ritika let him take the lead and was walking with him. Her cheeks were turned into pink remembering the previous incident.
"Here, your coffee" Rohit handed her the cup.
"I can't believe the famous great cricketer "Rohit Sharma" having coffee from a street side coffee shop and not Starbucks" she said amusingly seeing the shop which was on roadside at some distance from the hotel.
"Very funny!" He said.
Ritika raised her eyebrows questioning about the place.
"Actually this place is constant for getting a coffee at night whenever we stay in this hotel. The owner knows us so it's not big trouble too. And on top of that it tastes amazing" Rohit added.
"It's really good" Ritika said having a sip.
Rohit smiled and they had their coffee in a peaceful silence. It didn't seem awkward, just seemed correct at the moment.
"Thank you!" She said sincerely to which Rohit gave a soft smile to her.
"Umm" Rohit hesitated as they were walking back to the hotel.
"Go on, don't hesitate" Ritika said seeing him nervous.
Rohit composed himself a bit still it came out sheepish. "Can I get your number?" He said.
Ritika smiled at that sheepish look of his. She forwarded her hand for his phone and she put her number in that.
"Thank you, I had a great time today!" Rohit said as they reached her room.
"Yes it was indeed a great night. Good night" Ritika gave a soft smile and went into her room.
Rohit was grinning like a fool after meeting her and talking to her. Everything felt dreamy to him. He walked back happily to his room.
He opened the door and was welcomed with-

CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.
