《RUTHLESS DECEPTION》》17

The plane landed about an hour ago. Evander and I have been traveling to the airport side by side but neither of us had said anything. I keep having to take very deep breaths to clear my throat and it was a constant battle with White. All she wanted to do was jump him in the back of the car. I needed to stay as far away from him as possible. Our wolves are trying for us to mend the rejection. They want to be with their other halves so they would constantly pull us together. I have no idea if Evander even feels the pull, he was supposed to and if he did, he had an amazing way of hiding it.
It doesn't help that we're stuck near each other either. Thankfully, when we arrived at the hotel that the king had booked for us, I was happy that I would finally be away from him. The gala was in a couple of hours and I would gladly take those hours by spending time by myself.
"Wait here," he mumbled and walked to the front desk to get the keys for our rooms. I watched as his muscles flexed under his shirt as he moved his hands, his jaw clenching tightly to show off his defined jaw as he spoke to the girl behind the desk.
Why did he have to be such an asshole? We could have been happy.
Shaking my head, I look away from the sexy walking rejection and to the small suitcase next to me. "We have a problem," I look up to see Evander staring back at me, with anger and annoyance in his eyes. It was getting a lot easier to read emotions off of him now. Well, some of the time. "And that is?" I asked with a sass. How can this bastard be so cruel to reject a girl he doesn't even know. He didn't even try. He completely ignored me from day one. Evander sighed before showing one key card in his hand. Oh no. "It was meant for your brother and you, all the other rooms are booked and the other hotel is filled because of this ball thing," he explained. I let out a frustrating groan. All I wanted to do was get away from this moron. That's all. "Just bloody great," I groaned.

"I'm sure there is another option," Evander seriously said, staring around the busy lobby. We needed to be mature and logical about this, as much as I hated the idea of sharing a hotel room with a moron. "Go and tell them that if someone leaves the hotel to contact us and I'll need you upstairs," I suggested, taking the key card into my hand. Evander stared at me, neither of us moving. Everything around us slowly started to fade and I couldn't look away. Look away, Rieka.
Look away.
Shutting my eyes I bent my head and walked around him, leaving him standing there. Taking myself up the elevator, I found myself in room 302. This should be interesting and I know this isn't going to go my way because the moon goddess currently hates me.
The room was beautiful. It was elegant and screamed wealth. Certainly, King Vison booked us the best. Everything here was exceptionally well put together and whoever furnished the hotel room clearly put much thought into it. Fortunately, the sofa was wide and long enough for one to sleep on and certainly looked comfortable so I don't mind sleeping on that tonight. The bedroom was small and cute with a king-size bed in the center of it all. Just as I walked into the kitchen, Evander stumbled into the Hotel room with another key card in his hand. His eyes instantly fell on mine but tore them right away as he strolled around the room. "The couch is mine, end of the discussion," I stated seriously. "No, you can have the room, Rieka," his eyes widened slightly," doctor knight," he corrected himself. "Oh, now you want to play nice?" I scoffed," the sofa is mine," I protested.

A growl ripped through his chest as dark golden specks littered his eyes. Evander slowly walked to me, threateningly and cautiously. Suddenly, I'm pushed against the small kitchen cabinet, the hands that were resting on my hips were now pulled above my head captive by his larger one. Our hips were roughly pressed together and I felt myself becoming hot. Our eyes never leaving each other as he trailed his index finger along my jaw. "Trust me, I was playing nice all along," he whispered deeply. I tried pulling my wrists away but he just wouldn't let go. Licking my lips because they got dry real quick, his dark eyes fell on my pink lips. My heart clenched as he stared at my lips.
Knock out of it.
"No you weren't and even if you were you could do a lot better," I whispered back. It was meant to come out louder but my voice betrayed me. Evander smiled, flicking his golden eyes to mine. "I'm the big bad Alpha, remember? I'm not meant to be nice," he grinned wickedly. I rolled my eyes, trying to look at anything but him but his body was caging me in. "That would explain why you're a jerk," I scoffed.
"Just because I rejected you, that means I'm a jerk?" He innocently asked, tilting his head to the side and bringing his head closer towards my neck. My breath hitched and I tried not to think much of it. "How about lying to everyone that Iris is your mate? How about bloody marking her? Do you know how much that hurt? You gave me hope in Jayden's room and then you come back and reject me, you're a terrible person Alpha Evander," I accused him bluntly, not realizing my own eyes were beginning to water slowly. Evander's eyes softened as he slowly let go of my hands and they dropped at my side before slowly walking out of the room backward.
Evander left me in the small room flustered with my heart trying to beat out of my chest.
What the hell was that about?
I tried clearing my thoughts on all things Evander before walking into the living room to see he was already laying on the couch with his hand resting on his chest, holding his phone. I huffed and grabbed my suitcase before walking into the bedroom.
Flopping down on the bed I thought back to how friendly and different he started being recent. Sure they were slow and simple things but maybe if I let him get to me I'll find out why he did what he did. Because I needed to know for closure. I owed it to myself and my wolf to know why our mate broke our hearts.
Maybe.
