Two weeks.
Only two weeks and he is out of my life.
I knocked on the king's office with the letter in my hand. I should be happy because I can use this as a distraction. "Come in," King Vison insisted and I obeyed. My eyes locked on Evander. Of course, he had to be here. I looked away quickly but didn't notice the fact that he looked sexy as hell in a suit.
"Your highness, I received a letter stating that the hospital conference is moved up a month and is being hosted next week," I explained before handing him the letter. I wait for him to read it but I already knew he knew about the change in dates because he was the one who had to approve of the request to change the dates. "That's great, do you have your speech ready?" He asked and as if he knew I didn't, king vison narrowed his eyes.
"Yeah, totally," I lied with a smile. At the side of us, who I managed to ignore, Evander tries to stifle and hide his laugh. The king glared at him playfully and he shut up before turning his attention back to me. "Who are you going with?" He asked.
"I don't know, I was expecting to get a date after the coronation. I'll have to ask Jay to go with me or if not Usha," I shrugged, not thinking much of it. "Great," he smiled and I decided to take my leave and accept back my letter. "Bye," I smiled before leaving the room.
I took this time to have lunch before I was off to work at the hospital. "Hello, Doctor Knight," the maid smiled to me, already fixing my usual salad for me. I noticed that Iris was also in here, her phone in one hand and an apple in the other. She was too busy scrolling on her phone to even notice my presence. Thankfully. "Hopefully, the apple is poisoned," White rolled her eyes and I grinned but didn't admit to her that I approved of that thought. I sat down, slowly eating my salad because I didn't want to capture her attention. I couldn't help but watch the replacement. The one he chose. She was beautiful and seemed like the kindest person ever.

I couldn't compare.
As if she felt my eyes on her, she looked at me and I quickly looked away so shouldn't catch me. "Doctor Knight!" She cheered and I looked at her with a small and fake smile," Luna Iris." White growled in my head and I reminded her to calm down. There was no point in hating on her or even being jealous. She was already his. "How are you feeling about Jayden becoming Beta?" She asked. It was a normal question I got around the pack.
"Happy for him, actually," I say truthfully. Jayden was working for this since he was only a pup. He was born to do this. "I can only imagine," she sighed. Suddenly, her eyes go slightly fogged and I realized she was cut off by a mind link. "Evan is calling me in the office, see you later," she smiled before sliding off the stool and leaving the room.
Evan. I scoffed.

"He's leaving," Kira stormed into my bedroom with Brandon behind her. "What?" I asked stunned, immediately getting off my bed, abandoning the book. It was that serious that I forgot to look at the page number. "He said that he can't stay here but will be back in a couple of days," Brandon explained, nibbling on his bottom lip. My heart was crushing. Life was truly cruel. Everything keeps getting more worse. "I assume you both are leaving for your pack as well?" I asked, trying not to show how broken I was. They both nodded and I was forced to rake my hands through my hair as I blinked back the tears.
"Why is he doing me this?" I whispered to myself. "Go to him! Now!" White screamed in my head, her own voice sounding in pain. "Ask him to stay, or something. We can handle the...errands for him," Brandon suggested, choosing his words wisely. "I haven't spoken to the man before, one on one, are you serious?" I madly asked him. I knew I wanted him out of the castle but now that it was happening sooner than expected, I didn't want him to leave. He can't leave me. I don't know if my heart can take it, literally.

"You should come and tell us goodbye, it would only be best. The king has already bid us farewell and Iris is waiting with him downstairs," Kira sighed. I nodded, deciding that I wanted to see him one last time for selfish purposes. Who knows if he would be safe. Last time they were attacked and he almost died. Part of me wanted him to die. But how could I think something so silly? He is Alpha Evander. He would kill them like he killed all of the rogues that tried to get to the king that day.
I walked out of the room with Kira and Brandon at my sides. My heart was rapidly beating in my chest, a way that I never felt before. I was so caught up in the tornado in my mind that I don't notice one of the doors open. Suddenly, the electric wrapped around my wrist and yanked me inside the room and the door locks automatically.
I stared wide eyed at Evander Rowan.
He looks at me with soft eyes hooded by heavy eyebrows. "I didn't want to leave you," he whispered and glanced down at the flower in his hand. I didn't recognize the type but it was a pretty blue one, my favorite color coincidentally. Evander twirls the flower with his thumb and index finger on the short stem. I swallow heavily, and his eyes caught mine again.
My fingers were clutching my jeans out of nervousness. "S-So then why are you?" I whispered. He glances away for a quick second while thinking. "Business. It will only be a couple of days. Can you wait for me? I promise I'll be back," he spoke softly. Softness and care that I didn't expect from a man like him.
"You're speaking as if you didn't hurt me without even speaking to me," my voice betrays me but I don't disagree with my answer. "Iris and I...are bigger than us. This was never supposed to happen. I need to take care of a few things. Starting with this trip home," Evander explains still vague.
I don't know why but I trusted him.
I trusted the words he told me.
So I nodded and a small," okay," slipped from my lips. Evander steps forward and i stopped breathing once his fingertips brushed the side of my face. It was so intense that leads me wanting more. My lips parted when I felt the flower's stem sliding through my hair, leaving it on the curve of my ear.
"Pretty," he whispers and drops his hand. Evander stared at me and I felt my eyes pinching with tears again. Please don't leave, I wanted to say instead. Shockingly, Evander hooked his arm on my back and pulled me against his chest. There was still air passage between our chests. Evander leaned down until his lips were close to my ear," I'll be back, I promise," he whispered again. Hope, I haven't felt that in a while. That simple promise made me feel better instantly, maybe it was because he was so close but I was given hope that he would return by the man himself.
"Please," my wolf silently begged as he pulled away. The tingles faded away and I wanted him pressed against me again. Evander nods once before I automatically stepped away and he leaves me alone in Jayden's bedroom.
me before turning his eyes away to his beta behind me.
