I got to work fast in the hospital, preparing hospital beds and types of equipment to do checkups on our men when they arrived back. Since I was there I took all the shifts in checking up on our patients even though it wasn't much since werewolves heal pretty quickly. The worst the damage the longer healing. We still feel the pain and everything so it isn't all rainbows and butterflies.

A smile curved my lips when Jayden walked inside the hospital while I was reorganizing the front desk. "Hey there my favorite doctor," he grinned and leaned himself against the desk. "What are you doing here?" I asked him since he never comes into the hospital when I'm working unless if it's to say dad requested I came home early. "I got bored and Slace isn't here," he sighed referring to his recent girlfriend, Slace.

I'm sure they'll break up in a couple of days.

She's one of the best female warriors the Royal pack earned. "Only a couple more hours," I encouraged and a wave of a delicious scent hit me like a brick. "Do you smell that?" I asked Jayden as I tried to focus on the scent more. It smelt like vanilla and cinnamon mixed with the scent of rain. It was something like I've never smelt before but it was so faint. Like it was fading. I didn't want it to because it was one of the best scents I ever smelt. My eyebrows furrowed, I'm determined to know that scent.

"Smell what?" Jay asked with furrowed brows. I tried to focus on the scent but the more I do, the more it fades. That's weird. "Nothing, um- let's go home," I shook my head trying to get rid of the delicious scent. I quickly put away the scattered pens and grabbed my small bag before walking out of the hospital with Jayden.

"I can't wait for everyone to be home," Jayden admitted and I completely agreed. Jayden began ranting to me about he can't wait to become the beta of the royal pack in two weeks. Crazy right? Prince William was going to become king and my brother was going to become the Beta in two weeks.

Before I can reply though, King Vison forced a mind link. "Rieka, I need you. Save Evander," the king mind linked me making me freeze. I stopped walking, shocked by how faint and exhausted he sounded. "Where are you?" I send back. Jayden was looking at me so confused until I noticed his eyes go fogged. "At the hospital," Jayden and the king told me at the same time. He got a mind lining also. We both ran back in the direction of the hospital.

I hope dad is alright.

My eyes widened at the chaos inside the hospital. Nurses and doctors were running around the hallway, going into and out of rooms, pulling clipboards, and fixing syringes. I grab someone's arm randomly, "What happened?" I asked. It's crazy because three minutes ago it was like a ghost town inside of here and now it's like Victoria's secret on a discount day.

The nurse's eyes widened and her shoulders slumped letting me know she was relieved to see me. "They need you," she stated before pulling me. I left Jayden without another thought and followed her. "What's going on?" I asked once I noticed we were walking in the direction of the private sector of the hospital.

The scent returns.

Holy shit that smells amazing. Cinnamon and vanilla mixed with rain. I've never smelt anything so divine and delicious. It must be a candle or something.

Suddenly, the nurse pushes me into the room. My eyes landed on the bleeding stranger. The doctor inside me begins to panic and I want to help him immediately. "Please tell me you're doctor Knight," the bleeding man in front of me asked. He was bleeding from his shoulder and neck and stomach. He was in a bad condition and I wondered how crazy he is to be on his feet right now.

"Yes I am, Why are you standing? You need to be in on the bed," I scolded him. "I will but you need to help my alpha," he grabbed my hand and pulled towards the patient rooms. "What happened?" I asked and began to panic. What if something happens to the king or my father? The delicious scent made me relax and I focused back on the tall guy pulling me towards the patient room.

My eyes widened and my body froze when I saw him.

Alpha Evander.

He was laying on the hospital bed with all the machines connected to him. The minute I laid eyes on his body, my heart clenched and fireworks exploded inside me. The delicious scent was radiating off of him. He was the delicious scent. My wolf was screaming one word at the back of my head but I didn't give in to her. I already knew what she was trying to say. The breath was knocked out of me when I saw his bloodied torso and hands.

He's dying.

My mate is dying.
