I lock my arms around his neck. He wraps his arms around my waist and kisses me. The guests all stand on their feet and begin to clap. I am now Mrs. Mellark. Peeta grabs my hand and raises it above our heads. We lower our hands and he picks me up and walks down the aisle.

“We did it,” he says. He kisses me and puts me down. We get our wedding picture done then start walking to the lake where the reception will be held. When we get there we were going to go into the cabin that my father built but when we got there we saw Beetee going behind some trees with a box.

“I wonder what he’s doing?”

“I guess it is the surprise,” I say. We see a piano right next to the cabin. “I guess the piano player is Claudia.”

“Yeah, sorry about that Gale couldn’t find you so he asked me if Claudia could play the piano at the wedding.”

“You can make choices on your own. It’s not always my decision.” I give him a kiss on the cheek and we walk into the cabin. When we get in there it was transformed completely. The windows had curtains over them, there were white sheets and red pillows on the bed, rose petals and small white lights everywhere. I put my hand over my mouth. “Did you do this?” I ask.

“No.” It looks absolutely gorgeous. Then I saw a note on the bed. I leave Peeta and go pick it up. It had a beautiful green K and a gorgeous sunset orange P on it. Peeta looks at me with his eyes as if to say he’s afraid to open it. So I open it and begin to read.

“Mr. and Mrs. Mellark,

Congratulations. We re-did this entire area for you. You can stay in here until you are called out for your first dance. Please get comfortable, it is your day.

Sincerely, Gale and Claudia”

I can’t believe that Gale and Claudia did this for us. I guess Gale and Peeta are friends now.

“Wow.”

“I can’t believe it either.” We begin to hear the piano start to play. Guests must be on their way. I find a hair piece on the night stand. It is a white rose. Peeta helps me take off my veil and helps me put the rose in my hair.

“Gorgeous.” We sit down on the bed and Peeta puts his arm around me. He gives me a kiss. “I love you so much, and now I can call you my wife.” I smile. He grabs my hands and kisses me. I wrap my arms around he his neck and he puts his arms around my waist. His lips are as soft as babies’ skin. I’m not afraid to keep kissing him. I begin to have that feeling again. But this time it’s different. This time I feel that this is an everlasting love. I pull away and he smiles. He puts a lock of my hair behind my ear and kisses my cheek. We hear a knock at the door.

“Yes?” he asks

“It’s about time for your fist dance so you’re going to have to come out,” says a voice that I can’t recognize.

“Okay, thank you.” I didn’t want to leave. “I guess we better get going.” He gets up and grabs my hand. I get up and we walk over towards the door. He looks at me with those light blue eyes. He could tell that I didn’t want to leave and I could tell that he didn’t want to leave. He opens up the door and right when everyone sees us they begin to clap.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. and Mrs. Peeta Mellark,” announces Haymitch. “Please make room by the lake for the first dance.” Peeta and I walk over to the lake. Claudia begins to play the piano. My arms lock around his neck and he puts his arms around my waist and we begin to rock to the music. Claudia plays the piano like a full band is there, its beautiful music. I realize that we are in the best spot we could have our first dance.

“You know where we are?”

“We are in the spot where you proposed to me.”

“That’s right, and this is my favorite spot now.”

“This is my favorite spot to. Not only did you propose to me here, this is where my father would sit and watch me swim in the lake.” He kisses me.

“Then I guess today is the best day ever.”

“Other than the days where we made it out of the arena alive.” We laugh and the piano stops playing. Peeta and I sit down next to the bridal party. For dinner we have a type of beef. But after the first taste I knew who got the meat for the wedding. Gale. I can taste his seasoning anywhere and Gale hates fat on his meat so he cuts off every last bit of it. I get up in the middle of dinner to go find Gale.

“Where are you going?” Peeta asks.

“Just going to go thank someone,” I say. He smiles. When I start walking towards him I see Delly walking over towards Peeta. I find Gale eating dinner on the piano bench sitting next to Claudia.

“Congratulations,” says Claudia.

“Thank you. I feel so bad that you have to play the piano the entire wedding. You need to eat why don’t you just stop and get some food.”

She smiles and gets up and walks over to the food table. She doesn’t look like a Capitol citizen. She looks like a normal, pretty girl.

“That was nice,” says Gale.

“Why did you get the food for the reception?”

“Peeta and I were talking about the wedding and he said that the chicken wouldn’t get here in time so I stepped in and said I would get some wild dog.”

“Oh, and thanks for the surprise in the cabin, we weren’t expecting that at all.” He leans up so his mouth is by my ear.

“Okay, I don’t know if you know but something bad is going to happen and you’re a part of it,” he whispers in my ear. What is he talking about? Something bad is going to happen? He walks away as if someone is watching. I walk back over to where Peeta is to see him talking to Delly. I sit down next to him. He sees the confusion on my face and ends the conversation.

“What’s wrong?” he asks while starting to rub my back.

“Nothing,” I say putting a smile on my face.

“Ladies and gentlemen will you please make your way towards the cabin for the cutting of the cake,” says Haymitch. Peeta gets up and grabs my hand. We walk over to the cabin and when we get there they wheel out the cake. It was gorgeous. It was a light orange frosted cake with pearls outlining the bottom. Then there was a green frosting ribbon that went around the cake then the green bow was in the middle. Then on top of the bow was a light green and sunset orange roses. I go right into his arms. He wraps his arms around me.

“Do you like it?” he asks.

“I love it, I’m glad I left you in charge of the decorations on the cake I would’ve never thought of that,” I whisper in his ear. I get a cake slicer, and Peeta puts his hand over mine and we cut the cake. We put it on a plate and apparently we are suppose-to “feed” each other the cake. Peeta grabs some with his fingers and smears it all over my face. I just grin and I do the same exact thing back, but I don’t just smear it on his face, I get it all over his hair. I can’t help but crack up. He has a huge smile on his face. I love seeing him happy. But just when I thought the fight was over he takes some of the frosting off of the cake slice and puts it all over my hair. “Guess I deserved that,” I say. He kisses me. His lips tasted like red velvet cake. Caesar comes over and gave us a towel. His hair is blinding me and it’s almost dark.

“I told you if you won she’d be yours,” he says.

“You were right again Caesar,” Peeta says.

“Congratulations.” He gives both of us a hug. When he gives me a hug he whispers in my ear,

“You can love someone forever and never know how hard they had to work to get you to love them that way. Peeta worked the hardest I’ve ever seen to get where he is today, to get you to love him. The longer you hold onto him the more of an adventure you will have with him. Peeta,” he says shaking his hand. “I told you if you would win you’d get her.”

“Right you are Caesar, right you are,” he says.

“Thank you,” I say. Then he turns around and walks away. We wipe our faces. We both know that we are going to need showers because no matter how hard we tried we couldn’t get the frosting out of our hair, there are still a lot of small pieces that won’t come. We had the toasting and before I knew it all that was left in the reception was Beetee’s surprise. Beetee does an announcement.

“I’m going to need one person that isn’t afraid of fire or explosives to come with me.” Gale comes up. What on earth is Beetee planning. “Will everyone else please not go any further than the lake for safety purposes,” says Beetee. Gale and Beetee disappear into the woods. Peeta and I walk up to the lake and we wrap each other’s arms around each other so my head is on his chest.

“Do you have any idea what he’s planning,” I ask.

“Actually I think it’s-,” he gets cut off by an explosion that came from the sky. When I look up I see a burst of colors. I’ve seen these before. They are really expensive and rare but I saw one once at The Harvest Festival when I was little. The middle class and upper class citizens of Twelve would pitch in a little money so that they could have one of these. I think they were called fireworks.

“Is that what you thought it would be?” I ask.

“Exactly that,” he says with a smile on his face. As we watch this breath taking firework show I begin to see shapes in the fireworks. I saw a heart, a smile, and the word love. I knew that the firework show was coming to an end because I saw a lot of fireworks go up at once. The finale. Then we saw the night sky. Everyone including Peeta and I begin to clap because we thought that the firework show was over. We were wrong. There was one more firework, and it was my favorite. The sky lights up with a green K, a white +, an orange P, a white =, and alternating colors of orange and green that spell forever.

“K+P=forever.”

“Forever and always.” He gives me a kiss. And with that the wedding was over. I leave Peeta’s side to look for an important guest. I saw her at the ceremony and at dinner, but I haven’t been able to thank her for flying all the way out for our wedding. Then I see her.

“President Paylor,” I say somewhat loud so she can hear me.

“Katniss just the girl I was looking for,” she says. “I have a proposition for you,” she says. This can’t be good. She works for the Capitol now, and a proposition from the Capitol is never good. I know not to take it, but I pretend to listen anyway. “Well I don’t know if you know this but Coin and I were close. We weren’t exactly friends but we could trust each other,” she says. I don’t like where this is going with Coin in the story. But I still keep a focused face and listen. “She told me that the small amount of remaining victors that we had all voted for the Capitol children to go into the games. She told me that if anything happened to her that it would have to be carried out by me. I didn’t like the idea at first, but when I did my research I thought it was a great idea,” she says. Now I really don’t like where this is going. I thought that would be left alone once Coin died. I want to say something but I don’t. “So since you were the face of rebellion and that you voted yes I have a high honor proposition for you,” she says. My hands become clammy. I think I know what she is going to ask. “Will you, Katniss Mellark, be the Head Gamemaker in the first annual Capitol citizen Hunger Games?”
