Calliope sat at a table in the back of the bar, watching the people come in and out, waiting for a specific person. She slowly sipped away on her whiskey, when she saw who she was waiting for enter. They gracefully walked up to the bar, ordering a drink, and began to look for their next victim. She was growing impatient, knowing she couldn't move in until he was in action. She had been waiting for this moment for the past five years, and it had finally came, all thanks to a lead from her friend Bobby. The vampire lingered in on a blonde that was easily falling for the charm he was trying to use on her. She waited till they decided to leave the bar, and placed money on her table before slowly following them out.
Calliope left the bar, watching the monster from afar, arm looped around the women who may be his next meal ticket. They turn down a darkened alley, and as she got closer she heard the women scream. She raced down the street toward the alley, damning herself for wearing heels. She took the knife out from behind her back and headed to the alley, watching the vampire biting down on the women's neck.
"Get away from her!" She screams as she gets closer, the vampire letting the women go and facing her, blood dripping down the front of his face.
She throws the knife at the monster and he manages to move out of the way before it can stab him in the heart. The women he had collapsed to the ground and he takes off.
"Damnit! Damnit!" Calliope shouts to herself, her target getting away. She rushes to the women, checking to see if she was still alive. She gets the to the blonde, and quickly takes her scarf, placing it on the women's wound. Taking her hand she checks for a pulse, and luckily there's one and it's faint. Oh thank god she thinks to herself, as she pulls her phone out and dials for help.

"9-1-1, what's your emergency" the operator says on the other end.
"There's a women in the alley way of Carmen St, she looks like she's been attacked" Calliope tells the person.
"Does she have a pulse?" The operator asks.
"Yes, it's faint, and I applied pressure" she explains, as she goes to say more something connects with the back of her head and she falls forward, crashing hard into the ground. She struggles to get up, moaning in pain when she feels arms wrap around her lifting her off the ground.
"I finally got you Calliope Atwell" a sinister voice says before everything goes dark.
"I can finally make her pay" a voice says as Calliope's eyes blink open. She looks around seeing herself in a run down home, broken furniture, and dust cake the shelves. She tries to move her body, and feels her hands pull on rope as it burns into her wrists. Taking a deep breath she tries to focus and set herself free, but something is stopping her as she feels weak.
"Trying to break away" a voice says and she looks to see the monstrous man she had been hunting down. He steps closer to her bending down, placing a hand on her face gripping her chin making her look him in the eyes.
"You have been a busy women, Calliope hunting down my nest, killing my mates. But oh the tables have turned" he grins devilishly.
"Go to hell" she spats at him, trying to turn her face away.
He grips it even tighter, "I wonder what I should do to you, kill you, or turn you. Oh turning you will make you mine and with what you can do, who knows what having vampiric powers could do"
"I'd rather die" she says. They then hear a noise coming from another room, shouts erupt, and sounds of fighting.
"Don't try anything" the vampire says to her as he lets go to see what is happening. Once he is gone. Calliope tries to pull on the ropes again, letting them burn at her skin. She finally breaks free, slowly standing up, she looks around for a weapon. Finding a knife close by she picks it up, holding it out in front of her body, she makes her way toward the doorway. Peaking around the doorframe, she looks for any possible danger, when she hears glass breaking and sounds of grunts.

Going toward the sound, which is usually the wrong move for most people, she sees the vampire she's been after in a scuffle with a man in a plaid shirt and leather jacket, who's managed to kick the vampire down on the ground.
"Sammy! A little help!" The man shouts as she enters the room, going for the vampire, she stabs him in the shoulder, throwing him off guard.
"Looks like someone broke free" the monster growls at her.
"You really should have tried to dose me with more drugs, I've got my powers back" she sneers as she goes in for the attack.
She kicks at the vamp and he ducks away, seeing what she needs she makes the knife fly at the vamp, and this time it hurts the vampire. He groans in pain, pulling the knife out, he tosses it aside.
"I'm not going out that ea.." before he can finish she watches as his head is cut clean off. She looks at the man standing behind the vamp as it's body falls down to the ground.
"I could have finished him" she says to the man.
"Yeah, I saw the whole flying knife thing, but if I hadn't done that what else where you gonna attack him with" he asks her. She looks down at the knife on the ground, and makes it float up into the air, and holds it by his neck.
"Dean, you" another's mans voice says as she sees a man with dark brown long hair, also wearing plaid and jeans, comes into the room.
He automatically pulls a gun out from behind his back, cocking it before aiming it at her. "Let him go!" He shouts at her.
"I'm not going to harm, umm, Dean was it" she says as she makes the knife lower, and fly back to her, as she catches it in her hand.
"What are you?" The other one, she now realizes may be Sammy asks.
"Well, it's hard to really say. I have special abilities, that allow me to basically have telekinesis, and I can sense things about people. That vampire, he killed my family because of me." She says trying to hold her tears back.
"Wait, did you get these powers just a year ago?" Sammy asks her.
"No, I've had them for a very long time" she says.
"Wait, wait a minute, your Calliope Atwell aren't you" Sammy asks her and both her and Dean look at him. "Bobby, mentioned her before, remember he wanted to bring her in to help us with Azaizial, but you refused, cause you don't trust outside help"
"You guys know Bobby, wait a minute, Dean" she says looking at the shorter man from earlier, "Sammy" she says looking at the taller boy.
"He prefers Sam" Dean says to her.
"You're the Winchester boys, the stupid ones who let demons out of hell a few months ago." She says to them.
"I wouldn't say we let them out, more like escaped as we were trying to send someone back" Dean says to her.
"Yeah, sure well, this has been fun, but I think I'm gonna go. My jobs been done, and now it's all over for me" she says as she starts to walk away. She hears the boys talking to each other as she leaves the room. Calliope makes her way out of the abandon house, going out into the darkened woods. She ends up sitting down on the broken stairs as everything comes to her, and she breaks down, crying that it was all over.

The friends found themselves home in the real world, exactly as they'd been the night they were taken, as if no time had passed... except only three came back. Hi there! This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time. Right as Rage
Only 15 years have passed since the miscreant god, Villi, stole magic from the gods and gave it to mortals. In response the mortals seem to be doing their best to squander this gift. The Kingdom of Abrune regulates it, the church of the Sacred Hierarchies outright condemns it, but one 'wildman' from across the sea begins his journey after being cursed by it. Vakdragnar's curse manifests when he loses his temper. It has driven everyone he’s ever cared about away from him. Out of options and money, he travels to the city of Tirough and quickly finds himself on the wrong side of the law. He is persecuted despite his intentions to do good. How can you stand against evil if everyone you’re trying to protect thinks you’re the villain? And if this curse is truly a part of him now, what if they’re right? **************************************************************************************************** Right as Rage is a story I’ve been excited to write for some time now. I hope everyone is as excited to read it. This story is going to be told over several arcs, with each arc containing 7-12 chapters, and an interlude or two each. I plan on submitting new chapters once a week on Tuesday evenings.

This group of twenty-five finds themselves teleported to the land of Exandria, a world of swords and magic, of elves and orcs, of dungeons and dragons. Follow Brian and his newfound allies as they learn to become professional adventurers, complete contracts for the Guild, and maybe find a way home. To honor the source material's Dungeons and Dragons roots, I will be rolling dice throughout the development of this story. Everyone has a character sheet. From combat encounters to social interactions, everything that can be rolled will be rolled. See how a natural 1 can turn the tide of a battle, how a successful intimidation check can subvert a fight, or how deception can reveal critical info.
