SEASON 5 Ep: 15

Bash

The group gathered for another weekly potluck dinner, and Rachel seemed overly excited.

"It's only one week number two, the tradition will be falling apart in no time." Artie said.

"Hey, who's this?" Mercedes asked, holding up a flyer.

"That's our neighbour's friend, Russ. He got beat up last week." Rachel said.

"That's the nice way of saying he got gay-bashed. Apparently he was just walking down Bleecker Street when these guys jumped out of a pick up truck and decided to beat him up. It's awful." Kurt explained, clearly upset.

"He's lucky to be alive." Blaine agreed.

"It's so depressing. Hate crimes in America are decreasing yet in New York, they're increasing." Artie added.

"Yeah, why is that?" Sam asked.

"Well a few ignorant idiots just hate the idea that we're finally being accepted. They hate the fact that we're marrying, they hate the fact that we're moving into neighbourhoods that are supposedly 'straight' so they lash out by trying to kill us." Blaine explained.

"It's so unfortunate, the pure brutality." Haley sighed.

"Let's change the subject before we all get so bummed we can't eat." Kurt suggested, as he began to serve himself food.

"Well NYADA midwinter critiques are upon us and our fearless leader Madame Tibideaux has tightened her turban and given us the ultimate musical theatre challenge-"

"Sondheim!" Kurt, explained, as Rachel and Blaine also chorused in unison.

"Will you two stop playing footsie?" Artie asked, deadpanned, as Haley blushed, while Sam smirked at her. She rolled her eyes, while Sam continued to rub his foot against hers, and gave him a kick when he did.

----

"I still can't believe we're here in New York together." Haley exclaimed, as she and Sam walked hand in hand by the East River.

"I know. We're adults now and we're in New York City. We can finally be the people we've always hoped we could be and do the things we've always dreamed of doing." Sam shrugged, smiling as he looked at her.

"What the heck are you doing?" HAley asked, as he dug around in his pocket.

"I want to make a wish."

"Are you gonna throw a coin into the East River?"

"No, I'm gonna throw a bunch of coins in the East River, all going towards the same one wish."

"And what would that be?" Haley laughed, as he threw the coins, and a screw.

"That you Haley Aldrin will love me for the rest of your life."

Haley smiled before throwing some of her own coins in the river. "Well, I would like to make a bunch of wishes too. I wish that you, Sam Evans will love me for the rest of your life."

Sam wrapped his arms around her, pressing a kiss to her forehead, as she giggled. "That won't be a problem, Hay. We're getting married in a few months!" He said, as the realization hit her.

"Oh my god, we are, aren't we?" She asked, as he nodded.

"Hey, you can't just throw things into the river!" A woman shouted.

Sam rolled his eyes, throwing a handful of coins at her, if that was any consolation to her. He turned back to Haley, who giggled, leaning her head against his shoulder.

"I am so excited to spend the rest of our life together." Haley sighed.

"Me too, Hay. Speaking of marriage, how many kids would you want."

"I believe three, but I'd be willing to compromise for four." She said. "Four!" She clarified, as Sam smiled down at her fondly.

"Well, I'm willing to compromise my hope for six to three or four. They can be a handful." He said.

"Definitely." Haley smiled, as she let out a cold breath of air.

"Here, Hay, take my jacket."

"No, I'm fine. You'll freeze if you take it off." Haley protested.

"For you, that's a risk I'm willing to take."

"I'm fine." Haley assured him, even though he insisted she wear his scarf to keep her warm.

-----

Haley and Sam had rushed to the hospital once they had heard about Kurt's injuries.

"I'm honestly so scared." Haley sniffled, as Sam wrapped his arms around her comfortingly.

"Is he okay? Is he awake yet?" Mercedes asked as she and Rachel hugged.

"I don't know, they won't tell me. I'm not family." Rachel said sympathetically.

Everyone waited, until a doctor came out and Blaine rushed forward.

"Is he okay?" Blaine asked, taking Haley's hand in his for comfort.

"He has a hairline fracture above his right eye socket and some other cuts and bruising but he will be okay. He's sleeping now from the morphine but you can see him" The doctor explained.

"Hey Kurt, I know you're on a lot of painkillers buddy, but you can wake up any time now." Sam said, being the first of the group to speak.

"Just leave him, Sam." Haley sighed, taking his hand in hers.

"I feel so responsible. We had this huge fight and I just left him." Rachel explained.

"If you'd have been with him he would've done the same thing." Blaine smiled, weakly.

"I want to kill whoever did this to him." Sam said, anger, interlaced in his voice.

"Don't say that Sam, you don't mean that." Haley whispered wrapping her arm around his waist, as he wrapped his arm around her.

"I just wish he could hear me." Blaine said sadly. "So I could tell him I was here."

"He knows we're here. He does." Mercedes assured him, as the group left Kurt and Blaine alone together.

----

Kurt had finally arrived home after recovering in the hospital. After reconciling with Rachel, it was Monday night potluck again.

"Monday night potluck yo!" Artie called happily.

"I have an announcement to make." Rachel began, as Sam interjected.

"Yes we know, Funny Girl starts in two weeks, you've been tweeting about it everyday." He said.

"It's true, Berry has the tendency to do those sorts of things." Haley commented.

"No..." Rachel began, rubbing her hand across Kurt's. "So Kurt is singing tomorrow at NYADA for his midwinter critique and it's really important for his grade and although I won't be attending the school anymore, I will be there in support to witness what will undoubtedly be an incredible performance. So I'm hoping you guys will join me."

"Well I don't know about the rest of you fools, but I wouldn't miss it for the world." Mercedes said, sending Kurt a wink.

"I mean, I wouldn't miss it. I'm all for a Hummel performance." Haley added, smiling at Kurt.

"To Kurt." Blaine said holding his glass up.

"To Kurt." Everyone said, making a toast.
