"Wow..." Dan mumbles under his breath while there's a sudden surge of bright camera flashes as soon as he steps out of the black Mercedes that has been like his personal substitute black cab for the night.

"Have you ever been to a premiere before?" Dan's personal assistant for the night politely asks in a posh British accent. He's probably from Oxford or Cambridge, somewhere well spoken and eloquent.

Shyly Dan nods his head while the personal assistant, Adam, guides him to the entrance of the red carpet. "What one did you go to?" The assistant asks looking curious.

"I went to the Amy Winehouse documentary premiere, the Netflix movie Bright...the one that did shit. Um...there's another one..." Dan has completely forgot.

However, they don't walk out from behind the scenes just that. Instead Dan stands with his arms folded whilst looking at everyone rushing past them both. It's like the world is on fast forward. Dan's the main 'guest' of the evening, despite the movie world not really knowing anything about him yet.

All people see is a new cute star that they're ready to fall in love with after his movie, to which hasn't been delayed yet.

"What is going to happen is that over the microphone your name is going to get called out. Then you walk out of here...take photos for the press...and can sign your name on fan's merch and whatever. Take selfies. But you can't stop moving forward, okay? The only people to be on the carpet last is the main cast." Dan nods his head while Adam stands besides him.

"Dan Smith." The person who's announcing the guest list bluntly says while Dan takes a deep breath before entering the red carpet. He immediately goes over to the side which scream his name, as the other side are calling for the director of the film.

"Oh my god!" One girl literally cries in excitement.

"No way!" Dan shouts over the top of the other fans calling for him.

"Is that a Chaos Planet shirt?!" Dan points to her pastel colour tie dye shirt.

The teenage girl, Ava, who is in complete hysterics nods her head. Dan then helplessly smiles, "did you go to the gig or did you get it in the sale?" The girl shakes her head to the latter.

"I wasn't there but I remember the multiple Facebook live streams you guys did. And Woody's Ryan Gosling top...and the sweaty face paint."

Dan is in awe that Bastille fans still hang around. For two years after Holly's death they played together. But in late 2015, with Dan's mother's final cancer surgery and the anniversary of Holly's death...the world got too painful for Dan. He quit Bastille and convinced himself that they hated him, something that wasn't true.

"We're making a third album. It's called Doom Days." The girl's jaw drops while Dan nods his head feeling happy, despite knowing that because of Charlie the girl won't get her hands on the album anytime soon. He wants to make sure that the treatment is working before he can concentrate on anything else.

"Has Charlie had the baby...is that why she's not here?!" Another fan calls out while Dan confusedly looks at them. But for the first time in weeks...he feels optimistic.

"What baby?" He can't help but smile while the fan goes 'ahh'. They can see through his lie.

Dan wants Charlie to be the first person to tell the world about their daughter, but because Charlie's waiting to get better that might take some time.

"Are you dating her?!" Another fan rudely calls out, but Dan smile shrugging back his shoulders.

"You'll have to ask her."

For the next several minutes Dan slowly takes selfies with a dozen people, some of which clearly are pretending to be his fans. While Dan finds this awkward, the security guys thankfully managed to tell him and Adam to start walking down the red carpet without signing any more things.

Nearing the end of the red carpet Dan is then hollered over by several interviewers. Some of which want his views on the movie that he's about to watch, and other views on Illusion. The first interviewer is a woman in a scruffy fifties looking polka dot dress.

"Dan! It's so good to see you again?" Dan for a second looks shocked that he's spoken to her before. She then passes him a microphone which has the Radio 1 logo on it.

"Alice..." Dan's voice trails off awkwardly as he remembers. Alice is the weekend DJ for Radio 1, she normally goes to the premieres to get the backstage gossip and stuff for her show.

"Where's your partner in crime?" She laughs while Dan shrugs his shoulders back, pretending like he doesn't know where his secret girlfriend is.

"Is that a shrug of secrecy, or don't you know where she is?" Dan smiles and nods his head to the latter while Alice makes an 'ah' sound.

"So, I'm guessing you're here on promo for your new film Illusion which comes out at Christmas...right?" Dan shakes his head.

"Valentine's Day."

"Sorry! Of course! I'm really looking forward to it. It's not everyday one of your old university mates gets to be in an Avengers movie." Dan smiles when she mentions 'Avengers'. While his movie isn't inflicted with the Avengers storyline, it does have one of the Avengers in it. As well as a surprise cameo from Elizabeth Olsen who plays Wanda Maximoff or 'The Scarlet Witch'.

"Oh how times change..." Dan nervously laughs while she then points to the massive 'Doctor Sleep' sign in front of them both.

"Are you a Stephen King fan?" She curiously asks while Dan nods his head.

"I love Stephen, his writing is something biblical. Like...have you read any of his works?" — Alice admittedly shakes her head — "He just has away with words. One page you could go from some cult ritual thing...to the next page of a kid telling their mates to fuck off in different variations. There's no in between...because Stephen is the in between." Dan red one hundred pages of It once. That's the only time he has attempted to read Stephen King book.

Admittedly he's here just because of the guy Stephen King hated...which is of course the one and only Stanley Kubrick.

"Wow! Maybe you can give us some insight like that to Illusion?" Dan then shakes his head.

"I can't...I can't..." He's under contact after all.

"Okay then. I better let you go and talk to some of these other guys then?" Dan nods his head while he says a quick 'bye' to Alice while he's being pushed along by Adam.

Dan's never been to this big of a premiere.
