"Jesus Christ" Charlie mumbles under her breath.

"You really do go through swings and roundabouts, don't you. What's up now?" She whispers while Dan and Charlie get their hair and make up done.

Dan's makeup is kept to the standard minimal, unlike Charlie's glittery pink lips and flawless foundation. The makeup department has a very specific request that Liam will be kept a naturally tanned character, just like the comic books. However, Dan is the complete opposite is tanned.

"Nothing." Dan tries to dismiss his feelings. It's the easiest way he can cope.

"Don't lie to me, Dan." Charlie warns, while she puts down her phone on the vanity table opposite her. As she does so, a song suddenly comes on. Although it isn't full volume, the music still is loud enough to be heard from the bottom end of the makeup trailer.

'Moderation' by Florence + The Machine.

Dan can't resist a smile, neither can Charlie. Even the makeup team decide to move their heads side to side, both Dan and Charlie aren't talkative people. Although they're very polite.

But for the music, it's a little bit of nostalgia. It's 'no shit' that they both had a wow of a time last night at the concert. Charlie had never felt that passionate about music in general until Dan showed her what she was missing out ons

At first she was uncomfortable but as the night went on her smile got wider, and all of her worries faded to black. She found herself at one point dancing with her eyes closed...with her both of her arms waving freely in the air. She felt the music run through her veins. Two songs later, and full of newfound adrenaline, Charlie was pushing forwards just to reach out to Florence and touch her.

It was almost a 'biblical' out of body experience for Charlie. She never knew the power of music and living in the moment. But she certainly does now.

The music helps calm Dan down for a few seconds. It allows him to think about what he wants to say next. "I'm not lying. I-" he annoyingly gets cut off by Charlie.

"You do know that you can tell me anything, right? You're my co-star...and gig mate."

"Did you enjoy the gig then?" Dan decides to swiftly change the subject before Charlie can continue to question on why Dan looks, and seems, like he's down in the dumps.

Every single time Charlie has seen Dan he appears happy one day and miserable the next. Nothing adds up. She doesn't know how a guy like Dan can be unhappy at all! The girl with cat eyes has been around the block before and knows that the film they're working on will generally do well. Although, she wants to know more about Dan's private life. It's only since she feels like she knows barely anything about him as a person, other than he has a few obvious issues.

"I loved it. Maybe next time we can see a different artist or something?" Dan nods his head slightly and falsely smiles.

Dan's in a completely shitty mood today. What Ed said about his ex really has dampened the mood...even though at the back of Dan's mind he knows that Ed was only trying to help him. He really does want move on at some point, but he finds it extremely hard to trust people because of what he went through.

"What's up, Dan? Seriously." Charlie can sense that there's something wrong.

Dan takes a deep breath in. He knows that telling people about about what happened is the right thing to do...he's just scared of getting judged. Especially by his new friend.

"My girlfriend died...five years ago." He whispers under his breath. Just loud enough so only Charlie can hear, and not the makeup women.

Charlie on the other hand blinks in disbelief. She wasn't expecting Dan to say that of all things. "Jesus Christ...I'm so sorry. That really must been awful. I couldn't imagine the pain of loosing someone you love..." Charlie voice trails off after seeing Dan's saddened reaction. She immediately feels guilty for bringing such a dark subject up.

"If it's okay to ask...what was her name?"

Dan smiles slightly as he remembers his deceased girlfriend. Floods of memories come back to him, specifically the more pleasant ones. "She had two names." Dan whispers holding up two fingers, although it isn't a rude gesture.

"Two?" Charlie confusedly says.

"Like a conjoined name? Like Anne-Marie?" Dan laughs at Charlie's comment. It's such a innocent minded one.

"No. She literally had two different identities." Charlie's eyes widen to their full extent for a couple of seconds, Dan just nods his head.

"What was the identity you knew her as?" Charlie likes asking all the hard questions, and strangely enough Dan wants to answer. Normally he keeps quiet about his old love, but he wants to change that. He knows that he did nothing wrong.

"Ellie Crane. The girl next door." He whispers as he stares into nothingness.

Looking at nothing, is better than looking at something. Especially when you're talking about something which has fucked you up for life.

"What was her real identity?" Charlie then asks.

Just as the makeup women come back from their quick tea break, Dan gets out his iPhone and goes immediately on Safari. He then opens a previous tab that he refuses to close. Every phone upgrade he gets...this article is the first thing he puts on there.

In silence while the women bicker about Dan's vampire shade of white, Dan hands Charlie his phone.

Seconds later Charlie almost gasps as she looks at the familiar picture of the teenager that was found dead a couple of years ago. She remembers the massive news coverage was, and how a 'unnamed singer' was the main suspect. Although, Dan got dropped more or less straight away.

The girls real name was Holly Shields, and she was a runaway case who was reported missing long before she found Dan. The only reason why they didn't make her a high priority missing person...is solely because the cops would rather find a perfectly normal kid. It's just so they can look better. It's why Holly could walk around in streets and take pictures of herself without a single care in the world.

She was just a schizo for all anyone cared...

But Dan was her getaway car from society. He helped her and made her feel...special. But in a good way. He didn't patronise her, and he made sure that she always felt happy, motivated, and reassured. Even in times of absolute darkness.

Charlie then looks at Dan before he looks away, not in shame or guilt or anything like that. He just can't bare to see his new friend turn against him, although that's not the case. Charlie in fact feels more sympathy for Dan than she did before.

She knew how messy his lovers death was...
