The smell of the ocean was refreshing, it wasn't really the ocean but it was relaxing, well except the part about my strength being fire. We were getting closer, I could hear the waves and Percy was getting giddy.
"Come on, it's only like a mile away!" Percy says with too much enthusiasm.
"Can't I just build an Argo III or something so that we don't have to walk anymore?" I say without really thinking.
"What do you mean?" Maverick asks, he looked genuinely confused, like the faces on Ma Gasket, Sump, and Torque whenever I killed them.
"Oh, just you know, mythology, Jason and the argonauts." I say hesitantly.
"What about me and the Argo-whats?" I have to give it to Jason, he was good at playing dumb... like he was better than all the girls pretending that I wasn't irresistible.
"It's from Greek mythology, you know the gods, Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, Hades, Hera." Annabeth puts all possible disgust in her voice at the mention of Hera.
"Yeah, and they couldn't let their children have one day off since they were 12..." Percy had lost all the happiness in his voice.
"You act like they're real, and you know them." Will says, obviously trying to hint that we couldn't say anymore about this.
"Look we are here, Percy, Annabeth, can you get us some food?" Piper asks, she obviously didn't mean to but charm into her words but did, even I wants to go over and fish. They left the group, every now and then I felt like I had to look back at them to make sure they weren't making out.
"Hey, you 5, how about you guys set up camp?" Maverick pointed to Will, Frank, Hazel, Nico, and Bee. He pointed over to a small cave a few yards away, but definitely out of earshot from us. They walked off with most of our supplies minus a few weapons. "So, how long before we ditch those losers?" He asked nodding towards the others.

"Well they are part of our team, we should keep them as long as possible, strength in numbers you know." Reyna grabbed her gladius and eyed at it as if she was seeing how long it would take to sever off someone's head.
"Yeah, but I mean, they aren't careers. Let's get Percy and Annabeth over here, I'm sure they'll agree." He stood up and started to walk over to the couple. Annabeth was standing about thigh stomach deep in the water but Percy was nowhere to be found. Maverick had apparently seen that too so because he said something to Annabeth and so she submerged underwater for a few seconds and when she came up Percy did too.
"You know Percy would never turn on any of us." Piper said out of the blue. I must have said something really intelligent like, huh, because everyone was staring at me. "His fatal flaw is loyalty, that means he would rather die than betray his friends."
"Yeah I know that."
"You know what?" Maverick's voice said from behind me.
"Oh, just that we have over half the tributes right here and we could easily eliminate a lot of them." Piper intervened.
"Oh yeah, so you two, I was asking these guys when we should ditch those losers over there?" Suddenly a scream came from outside the cave, I saw a thing straight out of my nightmares, and I get those a lot. It looked like an alien at first with long tentacles for arms. Each tentacle had razor sharp barbs on them.
I realize the beast was standing over someone, a girl with dark curly hair and dark skin. "Hazel..." I mutter. I run over as fast as I can and Frank hops out of the tunnel with an arrow notched and ready to be fired. He shot the mutt and rolled it's corpse down the sloping beach into the ocean.

"Hazel, you're going to be fine, just calm down. You won't die again!" Frank held her form, she had a slash mark on her mid drift.
"Frank, it's fine, you have to let me go." Frank wiped away a tear and I felt one fall slowly down my cheek.
"No, I can't let you go."
"Frank, just don-" she fell limp in his arms. She looked tiny compared to him yet he looked like he just lost everything.
Sammy, I never knew you but please, take care of her.

The Elemental Arena
*A Rational-Adjacent litRPG Survival Series.* The time for the trials has come, pitting the mortal species of the galaxy against one another. By completing challenges, clearing dungeons, and defeating rival species, the players may forge themselves stronger and smarter. But only one species will be declared the winner. Earth has finally qualified... ...and participation is mandatory. A twenty-nine year old data entry clerk works together with a group of internationally diverse players to survive. Learning synergistic skills and using teamwork, can humanity achieve an upset? If they don't, their lives are forfeit. Author's note: Chapters will be anywhere from 6k to 10k in words, varying based on the plot beats instead of specific word counts. Realistic actions and teamwork will be important aspects of my story. I'm trying something a little different in writing a realism focused litRPG, hoping to capture the essence of how real people would react to their situation. People are complex and don't always get along. I don't recommend starting the series expecting wish fulfillment tropes just because it's tagged litRPG. It's a survival story with the game settings on Hell difficulty. The plot hasn't gotten there yet, but in the future of the series I want to recreate my nostalgia of forty person raids on Ragnaros, but with the high stakes of boss battles in Sword Art Online. I also love puzzle rooms so expect one of those each book. Warnings: mild PG-rated language, graphic violence and gore, and graphic medical content.

The Hunt
Cecily's blade swung, hitting its mark as always. The man's arm fell to the cold grass of the prison with a familiar thud. He let out a blood curdling scream. A warning to the rest. Stay away, the Hunter is here. That's the name they'd given her, the Hunter. After she cut off the man who tried to rape hers masculinity, they stayed away. She'd made it clear anyone who tried to touch her would be hunted and slaughtered. Cecily kneeled down, pushing the man's face into the dirt so she could use his back as a seat while she trifled through his belongings. "You're hurting my ears," she told him, no remorse in her voice. "Quiet down before I really do kill you."The man but his lip, well aware that she wasn't lying. Sobs shook him, making for an uncomfortable seat. She, however, didn't particularly feel the beed to kill him. It happened, not often, but it did. "Oh, hush up," she hissed, taking out a bag of rations with her metal hand, "it doesn't hurt that bad."With her good, human hand, she dropped the plastic bag of food into her own bag. She pushed up, off the man back. As she was about to walk away, bag slung over her shoulder, brushing against her autumn colored braid, she turned back to him. "Consider yourself lucky," she said, no hatred in her voice, there never was. "Consider yourself lucky that you didn't do anything stupid. And even luckier if one of the scum bagged criminals in here feel a little light in their hearts and help you. Consider yourself luckier if you die there."With that, her old black and white Nike sneakers carried her off into the brush of the huge prison.
