《▪︎THE LUNA▪︎Book 1》Chapter twenty four

I clutch my side and partially sit up straight, groaning from a headache that only gets worse with every movement. I stretch out one of my hands, hoping to get hold of my phone by my bedside table but instead feel an arm. Why is there an arm on my bed side table? My eyes open frantically searching for any sign of danger.

I release a sigh, knowing it was Parker's hairy arm spread out. My body's squashed on the corner of Tiffany's bed, with memories of last night that keep flashing in my head; the pizza, the alcohol Claire snuck in, the truth or dare game... Crap.

Ignoring the enormous migraine, I sit up straight completely and reach for my phone. I am faced with one of the weirdest text messages once I unlock the screen. I shiver even more with each text read.

Grabbing my pillow, I smack Claire's head as the last text keeps replaying in my head. "Wh- ouch!" She groans out loud and holds one side of her head. She looks at me with confusion and anger all at once but suddenly blanks out as her gaze switches from me to my phone. "Tyler? Really?" I move closer to her. She giggles nervously and rubs the back of her neck. My eyebrows raise in wonder as my grip loosens on the pillow. Having a mate sure has made its effect on her. As if she's read me mind, her witty self slips back on as a smirk plays on her lips. "Yes Tyler. He's a good rebound and will definitely make Christopher jealous." Her arms cross over her chest after standing up swiftly. Curse her unusual steadiness even with a hangover.

"Oh come on, just one sip. It's not going to kill you or anything." Claire shakes the red paper cup in her hand, it's burning scent lingering in the air. My eyebrows raise as my mouth hangs agape. Carson smirks at Tiffany as the drink dangles right in front of her. "You can't tell me you've never had a drink in your life." His hand slips to the small of her back, his growing smirk widens even more as she gulps. Noticing this, he smirks even more but in a different way from his usual one. His eyes seem to light up even more as she slightly shivers. Wonder what that's about.

I clear my throat, drawing all the attention on me. One of my eyebrows raise as my questioning gaze lands on Claire. She simply shrugs and puts the cup down. "Really guys? I was only gone for five minutes and you've already brought out the alcohol." I put the pizza boxes on Tiffany's desk and cross my arms. My eyes scan everyone in the room but zero in on Tiffany. She keeps fidgeting with the lose threads of her pajama bottoms. She barely keeps eye contact with me as her gaze shifts between me and her fluffy white blanket, hanging off the bed.

Parker sighs in defeat and speaks up. "Fine," he lets out an exasperated groan, "we'll get rid of th-" "Oh no, it's just a little surprising that you're drinking this early but by all means, carry on." I plop down on one of the bean bag chairs, watching everyone with an amused smile plastered on my face. Images of the worst case scenarios run through my mind in a blur but I push them to the back of my head and try having fan with everyone.

The empty brown glass bottle screeches against the wooden floor board as it spins in a circular motion. My silent prayers go unnoticed by the receiving end immediately the tip of the bottle lands on me. Claire grins evilly at me as she rubs her hands together, mimicking the actions of an evil villain stereotype. My body sways a bit to Carson's music playlist blaring in the background. Now that I think about it, it's pretty funny that Tiff of all people would let Carson play his weird music. I simply shrug of the thought and focus on Claire just as she began to talk. "I dare you to..." She taps her chin in thought, "I dared you to flirt text Tyler." My eyebrows scrunch in confusion as an oddly relaxing sensation swirls from my head and onto the rest of my body. Who's Tyler? I search my memory for any Tyler I've ever come across but it's still as blank as it was a few seconds ago.

Deciding not to ponder on it, I simply nod at her and grab my phone. Everyone looks at me as though I've only grown a second, but a third head. "You're seriously gonna do it?" She asks with a voice laced with humour. Her perfectly arched eyebrow rises as her stare switches between my phone and I. "Why not?" I simply question back, having no reason not to. I mean, it can't be bad talking to this Tyler person that I can't seem to remember and somehow have his number, right?

My eyes land on an all to familiar number on my contact list. Christopher. My thumb merely clicks the call button but I decide against it. The pain slowly starts to wash over me, canceling any other emotion in its wake. I knew he was mad at me but I didn't think it would be to the point he'd go lip locking with someone else. I sigh inaudibly and continue to scroll through my contacts until the name Tyler pops up.

(Hayley); Hey there

(Tyler); hey ; )

...

I rub my eyes tiredly and plop onto the couch. After nearly killing Claire because of that unbelievably stupid dare, I decided to head to my room and take a bath, trying to clear my head as much as possible. Sadly, I barely got what I had planned initially. The water was scorching hot, my shampoo had run out, my favorite fluffy robe had a burn mark on it from one of my many attempts at trying to hurriedly straighten my hair before school. All in all, I've had quite an interesting morning.

"Young lady, what do you think you're doing? " mother questions while blocking my view of the tv. "I'm trying to watch the latest episode of the vampire diaries." I state in a slightly irritated tone as mother sighs. She pulls me up from the couch, forcefully if I may add. Her eyes slowly scan my chosen 'outfit' as her eyebrows scrunch up in displeasure. "What are you wearing?" She crosses her arms over her chest and looks at me pointedly. I slightly pout and eye my choice of clothing. Geez, I didn't think wearing baggy sweatpants and a plain t-shirt would be that bad. "Comfy clothes." I mumble and avoid eye contact.

"You should be getting ready." Mother places a loose strand of my hair at the side of my face behind my ear and smiles brightly. "Getting ready for what?" I question back as confused as ever.

"Yours and Reagan's party of course." She smiles one last time and starts to make her way out of the living room. Before she gets completely out of sight, she turns to me and speaks, a breathtaking grin lining her lips. "Happy birthday sweetie."

I'm almost regretting picking all sciences SMHbtw, the picture at the top is what Tyler looks like
