《▪︎THE LUNA▪︎Book 1》Chapter twenty one

"Are you serious right now?" I practically yell at Christopher as he looks at me as though I've made the most unrealistic request. "Of course I am Hayley! Why would I be joking, especially about this?" I flinch slightly but gain my composure nonetheless. He notices this and visibly calms down but only the slightest.
An uneasy feeling sets at the pit of my stomach as I come to my next conclusion. "You know what, I'll just make things easy for the both of us and go." I start to march out the room but Christopher's tall frame blocks me.
"Here we are." Christopher turns off the car engine and turns to look at me, "Surprise." He whispers to me as he leans in closer. "Not so fast lover boy, I still haven't forgiven you." I push his face away and pull on the most serious face I can master. I'm honestly not mad at him, I just want him to think that because truthfully, know one can object my true opinion on the vampire diaries. It's petty of me but it's a fact at the end of the day.
I step out of the car and walk closer to the entrance of the house. It's perfection in its simplest, that's all I can say about it. It's design is unique in the best way. I've never really understood the term 'love at first sight' until now. "How can I make it up to you then?" He stands next to me and puts his hand at the small of my back. I tap my chin in pretense thought and keep my eyes trailed on the ground. "Well you could admit you're and sing the Hannah Montana theme song for me." I smile evilly at him as he looks slightly taken back for a moment but quickly shapes up. "Hannah Montana, really? Are you sure you're seventeen?" His eyebrows raise as he stares down at me with an amused expression. I roll my eyes and proceed to move to the door. "Are you just going to stand there or are you going to show me around?" I turn my head slightly and call out.
"Pushy, I like it." He reaches my pace and tugs on my arm. "This sweetheart," He gestures to the beauty in front of us. "is the pack house." He rests his arm around my shoulder and looks down at me. I stare at it in awe. "Your alpha must have great taste then." I look back at him smiling but he seems taken back. Wonder what that's all about. He shrugs lightly before he speaks. "Come on, you're yet to get the actual surprise."

The inside of the pack house is amazing. Its wooden interior clashes magnificently with the furniture. The dim lighting seems to bring this simple yet comfortable setting. Christopher pulls me along to the kitchen. He lifts me up and places me on the island counter top, as if I didn't weigh a thing. Butterflies erupt at the pit at the stomach. Sparks spread throughout my body from the skin to skin contact. His hands linger abit on my waist, the sparks doubling even more as it spreads through out my entire system. Damn it! I shouldn't have worn a crop top. "Why not, I like your little out fit." Christopher speaks, pulling me out of my thoughts. Crap, I can't believe I said that out loud. He chuckles softly and turns to the cabinet and pulls out some pasta. "I," he gestures to himself, "will be cooking for you."
Maybe I should just eat right, I mean it's only been a day since I last ate. It can't do any harm right? "Hayley, Hayley." I feel the familiar sparks on my arms as my vision clears out. The first thing I notice is the familiar dark brown eyes with worry in them. "Are you okay?" He smiles at me and squeezes my arm. "I'm good, I'm good. I was just...in my own world I guess." I sheepishly smile and look down at my bare legs. I have a lot to loose. He lifts my chin up and examines my face. "I know there's something wrong Hayley, I can feel your anxiety." His thumb gently strokes my cheek. " I promise I'm fine. Lets just get back to the cooking." I smile and move a bit to my left, creating enough space for me to jump down. He sighs out loud but doesn't say anything. I move over to the chopping board and start cutting some vegetables.

"And this," he unlocks the dark wooden door and opens it. "Is my room." His room isn't what I initially would have thought it was. In all honesty, I expected to find an all black room, so saying I'm a bit surprised would be accurate. After the slightly awkward moment in the kitchen, Christopher decided to shake off the tension with his 'charm' and a bit of some cheesy pick up lines.
The first thing that catches my attention is a black guitar next to one side of the bed. I make my way to it and turn to Christopher. "May I ?" He leans against one side of the door frame with both hands in his jeans pockets. "Go ahead." I gently pick it up and sit on the edge of the bed. Positioning it on my lap carefully, I start to play one of the tunes Reagan taught me not too long ago. "I didn't know you can play." Christopher's voice calls back as he sits next to me. I get distracted by the closeness and play the wrong chord. At this, he smiles. "I can't. I just learnt a few things here and there from Reagan." I stop playing and look at him . His eyebrows scrunch in confusion. "Your twin brother?" I nod at him and giggle. His scent fills my nostrils as euphoria sets in me. He moves closer to me and drapes one arm over my shoulder. "Here, I'll help you." His hand goes over mine and places one of my fingers the bottom string. ✌🏾️

A few moments of playing pass by, no words exchanged, no smiles shared. There's definitely something wrong here. Before I get the chance to speak, Christopher puts the guitar down and faces me with a serious expression. "I need to talk to you about something." I nod at him, encouraging him to continue. "I'm the alpha of this pack." My eyes search his curiously, wondering where this is going. "I can kind of see it, that and you have the former alpha's surname." I laugh a bit but my attempt at dry humor seems to go unnoticed by a serious looking Christopher. "As alpha, I will need a Luna by my side, to help me lead the pack and bare strong children." He speaks carefully, beating around the bush as though he's afraid of what my reaction will be. "I don't see where you're going with this."
"Hayley, I want you to be my Luna. I initially planned to tell you this after a couple of months but I figured the sooner you found, out the better for us." He holds my hands in his with the most hopeful expression I've ever seen from him. My mood dampens at the thought of having to do what I have to do. "I... See the thing is... I can't, not right now that is. There's just so much for me to do, so much knowledge for me to explore. I have a future to pursue. I want to go to college. I want to be alpha of my own pack but I don't think I'll be able to do all that if I become your Luna now." I drop my gaze to our hands, feeling guilty to want to pursue my own needs. He roughly pulls his hand away from mine.
"I can't believe you're seriously doing this to me Hayley! How can you be so selfish!" He rises from his position and looks at me with so much disgust. I feel a pang in my chest but cover it up and rise and stare at him squarely with so much shock.
His eyes flash golden as his canines prolong from his mouth. A cold shiver runs down my back as Christopher inches closer. I take careful steps back but get tripped by the bed. Crap, I'm definitely screwed. I try to move back up as quickly as I can but Christopher beats me to it. His hands rest on both sides of my head, supporting the rest of his body weight. He growls lowly at me but this one is much different from the last, it's cold and venomous. His eyes study my face slowly, as though they are searching for an answer. I start to shake at the unfamiliarity of his behavior.
His eyes slowly fades to their normal color as regret sets into them. "Hayley. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." I close my eyes as hot tears begin to pour out of them. "Please don't cry?" I feel his fingers make contact with my skin and begin to shake even more. His hand retreats as my eyes open slowly. "Get off of me." I silently croak out, not being able to find my voice. "Please?" I plead as my eyes shoot at anything in my view that isn't him. He moves off and sits at the edge of the bed.
I rise and start to make my way out of the door but what he says stops me in my tracks. "Don't go, please. I can't handle anyone else in my life leaving." I turn my head to look at him for a split second. "I'm sorry..." With that said, I quickly leave the house, along with my heart.
