《▪︎THE LUNA▪︎Book 1》Chapter nineteen

"Hello." I groan at whoever called me at such an ungodly hour. Normally, I would check the caller ID but I'm to tired to actually care. I turn to my side, only to find Tiffany's body spread out across most of my bed, leaving me with a small part to sleep on. Thanks Tiff (note the sarcasm). Saying I'm uncomfortable would be an understatement of the year.
"Good afternoon beautiful." The cool tone rings through the line, making a warm and fuzzy feeling wash over me like a wave."What do you mean good afternoon? It's still early in the morning." I yawn out loud and try to flip onto my stomach. That's the worst mistake I could make at the moment.
I land on the ground with a thud that surprisingly goes unnoticed by Tiffany. "Are you okay?" Christopher's voice sounds out with so much worry, that it makes me smile even more as the discomfort from the drop eases away. I've got to stop falling off of this thing. "I'm good. Just fell out of bed." My shoulders shrug as I speak with a softer tone.
His deep chuckle sounds through the line, making my cheeks heat up. "It's not funny." I whine and pout, my voice going an octave higher unintentionally. His chuckles abruptly stops as he starts to speak. "Go out with me."
"Sure, hold on." My excitement triples at this. Pulling the phone away for a brief second, I stand and do a happy dance, trying my best not to squeal too loudly.
I crawl back to the same position, pretending what just happened never did. "Wh-" I clear my throat for a second, "where are we going?" trying my hardest to not squeal even more. "It's a surprise." He says in a playful tone, his voice deepening slightly. "Really, I don't even know what to wear now."
"Something casual will do. Make sure you can move around in it." He says the last part with a bit of worry to his voice. This almost makes me laugh. "Don't worry, I'm not going to wear heels and some fancy dress." I laugh a bit towards the end.
"I'll pick you up at two." At this, my eyes snap at the alarm clock on my bed side table that reads 12:30. "That can work." I speak my thoughts out loud, not considering the fact that Christopher could find me really weird. "Perfect, I'll just need permission from the alpha to enter your territory." Crap, I'll have to ask father which means he'll most likely want to know everything. "Uh yeah. What are you going to do till then? Wouldn't want you getting bored out of your mind or anything." I tug on my lower lip as my fingers drum on the carpeted floor in slight curiosity. "I'll just do some pack stuff, no biggie." He casually states the last part. "Okay, bye Christopher."

"Until then my fair lady." I can almost feel his smirk that I have now come to learn as infamous. I roll my eyes as the line goes dead.
I paddle my way to the kitchen, knowing perfectly well father will be there, keeping mother company as she cooks. "Well, you look...interesting." Reagan unnecessarily points out, making me glare at him. "That's not nice, your sister looks fine. Now apologize." Mother speaks sternly as she points the wooden spoon at Reagan. I give him a victorious smile as he apologizes before my attention is drawn to my father. "Good afternoon baby girl." His harsh stare softens as his eyes trail from his laptop screen and onto me. "Good afternoon pa. I was wondering if you could give my friend permission to enter the pack lands." I put on the cutest face I can master and look at the floor, playing with my hands. "Who is this friend and why do they need to enter the territory?" Glancing up, I notice father's questioning look slip on as one of his fingers taps the the island counter continuously. "They are a recent friend from school. We made plans to hang out today so they need to pick me up." I answer carefully, trying not to be to specific with the gender.
"Why are you being sketchy about this friend?" Father probes me with even more questions. Sensing my unease, mother immediately steps in, managing to save me from father again. "It's alright sweetie. Tell your friend they have mine and the alpha's permission." Father raises an eyebrow, questioning mother's intentions but quickly backs down when she gives him her 'don't question me ' look. "Thanks mom, thanks pa." I respond and kiss both their cheeks and leave the kitchen.

"So what do we think, cute and flirty or cute and comfortable." Claire holds up two different outfits, asking for our opinion on what would be the best choice of clothing for my 'date' with Christopher. "Definitely cute and flirty." Tiffany speaks out as her eyes scan her option and my body, comparing the two together. After my little chat with father, I rushed to my room, only to find Tiffany filling Claire in on my conversation with Christopher. As it turns out, Tiff was awake all along, even when I fell off the bed. Saying she was excited about me finding my mate is an understatement, she was basically like a sugar high seven year old on Halloween. Claire forced me to sit on my bed after my shower and asked Tiffany and I (mostly Tiffany) on our opinions on different outfits.

"No way. I am wearing a dress." Tiffany rolls my eyes at my protest and crosses her arms. "This is your mate Hayley, you have to dress to impress." I raise my eyebrows at her suggestion and switch my gaze from her chosen outfit to her. "No I don't. And besides, we're just hanging out. It's not a date." I smile at her puzzled expression as she eyes me in confusion. "That is true but the cute and flirty outfit has amazing boots." Claire cuts in with her own feed back as she raises the outfit and schemes through it with her eyes. "Guys, this is me we're talking about. In what world would I ever survive in a dress?" I ask, raising an eyebrow. They both nod in agreement as Claire speaks. "Cute and comfy it is." I grab the outfit from her and rush to the bathroom to change.
"Hails, I'm pretty sure you can change in front of us. It's not like we even swing in that direction." Claire blocks my path from the bathroom door and states, both hands placed on her hips. I shake my head in protest but Tiffany cuts me off. "How do you think you'll have the mating process if you can't even handle your best friends seeing you change?" I pout at them but they don't seem to be buying it by the stern looks on their faces. "Fine." I huff in defeat and stare at them for a while. "turn around." I make a whiny sound but they comply none the less.

I had decided to pair the whole outfit with some simple silver hoops and white converse. The outfit consists of a simple black crop top with a denim overalls . I rise from the couch and tuck some of the free hairs behind my ear when the doorbell rings at exactly two. I wanted to pin up my baby hairs but Claire and Tiff disagreed to it, threatening to cut off my hands if I even dared to to look at a bobby pin. According to them, the messy bun look completed the outfit and 'increased my cuteness factor '. Loosing a limb or two doesn't sound appealing at all so I just let them have this one.
The door opens, revealing a very hot looking Christopher. His eyes meet mine immediately as he smiles brightly at me. "You look beautiful." I blush as his gaze fixes itself on my face, occasionally lingering on my lips. I mumble a simple thanks and shut the door. Christopher holds my hand in his and leads me to a black old fashioned mustang (I don't know much about the type of car. I just really liked it in the vampire diaries "Damon's car". Although it was blue, a black version looks much better). "I love your car." I gasp as I take in its full form. Its paint job looks so sleek and new, giving it that freshness to its timeless design. "Really? Most people say it's too old." He says while shrugging his shoulders. "Then they officially have the worst taste if they don't appreciate classics." He brightens up at my statement and laughs while opening my door for me.
Once he's buckled in, he turns to me with a slight smirk on his lips. "Where too m-lady?" I raise my eyebrows at him. As if reading my mind, he explains. "Today is 'do whatever your mate wants day.' So as my treat to you, we get to do whatever you want to do and I'll pay." He smiles at me, making a thousand butterflies erupt in my stomach at once. I playfully tap my chin in pretense thought before speaking. "In that case..."
