《▪︎THE LUNA▪︎Book 1》Chapter seventeen

"So I was thinking, maybe we could have a sleepover or even a girls night out- Are you okay?" Claire bursts through my door, voicing out her idea but comes to a stand still as she takes in my current situation. I am laying in bed in a fetus position , cuddling my pillow and blanket that are now fully soaked in tears." Hi..." I answer back with a shaky voice and sit up straight, smiling at her. I've always been the kind of person that has a smile on their face, no matter the circumstances. Mother says it a character trait I share with grandpa Joe.
Claire drops her phone and pillow in hand and quickly rushes to me, pulling away the blanket and hugs me tightly. "You wanna tell me what happened?" She asks with a quiet voice, rubbing my arm as we both pull away from the hug. Her eyes trail from my own and onto my batman pajama pants. "Really, batman?" She questions with a raised eyebrow, with a hint of playfulness to her tone. "Yes batman. He's cool and mysterious. So why not express my adoration for him through my pajamas." I proudly speak as I straighten out my tank top with the batman logo on it.
"Luckily for you, I brought my own set of pajamas. The right one if I may add. I figured you'd rather have a sleepover instead of a girls night out." She states, removing her robe and tossing it on my bed. She's wearing her superman pajamas with a black Calvin Klein sports bra underneath. The shorts end a few inches bellow the butt area but are still really baggy. The shirt is completely unbuttoned, showing off her flat stomach and belly piercing. "Is there a particular reason as to why you chose to wear Parker's favorite superhero pajamas?" I question as my arms cross over my chest, lifting an eyebrow in curiosity and a hit off playfulness. She blushes and attempts to brush off the topic as though the question didn't affect her. Key word being attempts.

"Puh-lease, everybody knows superman pjs are much cutter than all the other superhero pjs." She puts up a strong argument, trying to avoid my questioning stare. I chuckle at her uneasy state and begin to speak. "Wow, didn't think it was true but it is. You've got it bad, like really bad, worse than Miley's crush on Jake Ryan bad." Her blush intensifies at my Hannah Montana reference as she pulls her hair out of its high, messy ponytail in attempt to hide her face. "What! N-no... You are so wrong...Is it that obvious?" She asks, fiddling with her fingers, shyly looking up at me.
"Finally!" I groan out, raising my arms in fake exasperation. Claire stares at me blankly, her normal self slipping back in way too quickly. She's never been one to shy away from emotions, especially when they have something to do with the opposite gender. "You know what this means right?" I ask smirking at her as my arms cross over my chest. Her eyebrow raises in a questioning manner as my eyes roll at her ignorance. "You get overly excited by the simplest information." I gasp at her statement, placing a hand over my heart and give her the saddest look I can possibly make. "I do not! I just happen to be very open about my emotions." I shyly mutter the last part as my head dips low, trying to avoid eye contact.
"It's the same thing Hayley." She smiles but immediately subsidies, "So do you wanna tell me about it?" She asks and moves over to my left and places an arm around my shoulder. I can see our reflection through the full body mirror next to my dresser across the room. This seems all to familiar.

Claire smiles at me encouragingly and squeezes my arm gently as she ties her messy hair back into the perfect pony tail it was in earlier on. I return the smile and go into full detail of everything that happened with Carson.

"So that's what happened." I shrug my shoulders as I come to the end of my story. Claire hasn't said a word since I started telling her what happened. Her mouth hangs open and her eyes look like the can jump out of their sockets any moment now. I stare at anything laying around the room, feeling slightly uncomfortable from the pair of blue crystals that haven't stopped staring at me from when I began to speak.
"That asshole! I'm so going t-" she yells as she raises from her seated position and makes her way to the door but comes to a halt while turning the doorknob and faces me. "Oh my gosh, what am I thinking? My first priority should be comforting you." She rushes back to me and smothers me in her infamous bear hugs. "Are you okay?" She asks with a muffled voice as she attempts to push my hair away from her face. I wrap my arms around her, not feeling uncomfortable from on of her bone crushing hugs for the first time. "Yeah... I think... It's not the end of the world so I guess I'm fine." I pull back from the hug, sighing in aggravation and face her. Her facial features are less prominent without any makeup on, making her look younger Her freckles are perfectly scattered along her nose and cheek area accentuating her beauty. Her hair is held in a high pony tail as some little hairs hang loose near her ears in a messy yet perfect way. "We definitely have to change that. You and me are-"
"Hello ladies!" A familiar voice announces from the door way as Claire's head whips in that direction. "Miss me." She states while plopping down on the edge of my bed. Claire and I give each other knowing looks before tackling the third party in my room in a group hug. Sadly, the plan failed as we all suddenly slipped off the bed and onto the floor.
"Gosh Hayley, why is your bed so high off the ground." Claire exclaims while groaning but her facial expression quickly morphs into one of excitement as she looks at the person who just happened to cushion our fall. "Tiff oh my gosh! I missed you so much!" Tiffany starts wheezing for air as Claire's hold on her tightens. "Hey, I missed her too." I pout jokingly at the two off them but Claire simply ignores me with a wave of her hand in a shooing manner. Tiffany manages to slip from Claire's killer grip an tackles me back to the ground with another hug. "It's been too long since I last saw you guys." She states as we both pull back. "Way too long."
