"And why do you look so grumpy on this fine morning?" Chloe says setting her tray down. "Who said I was." I mumble.
"Your sulking did. Wanna talk about it?" I do. But I dont want her to know who im talking about.
"Lets say I had a friend well not really a friend but we used to be friends and now she hates me and one day that not friend came really close to kissing me so I try to figure out why we cant be friends anymore but they get angry at me and dont wanna open up."
Chloe crosses her hands thinking deeply. "Is that friend walking towards us right now?" My eyes widen and I look behind to see the whole soccer team including Kate coming to our table.
"Im really observant." She grins devilishly. "I would have to do more research on your 'not friend' to see what we can do."
"I dont need- fuck." I whisper the last part. "Observant on what?" Layla asks looking between us. Chloe winks at Layla a message passing through them. Wait a damn minute...
"You told her!" I yell making everyone look at us.
"I didnt know our phone call was supposed to be a secret." She shrugs, I can almost see her smirk.
"What phone call?" My stomach dips at the sound of her voice and I dare not to look to the side at her. "Nothing just Vic's unrequited love for me." She gasps dramatically and I hit her shoulder.
"Stop." I warn.
"Its okay baby. We should tell the world how deep our love for each other is." She exaggerates. "Show them. If you know what I mean." She raises her eyebrows up in down and I roll my eyes my cheeks heating up.
"You're annoying." I mumble standing up to study at the library. Where the fuck is the library to begin with? I know one of these signs have to point to library.

"Watch out!" I stop in my tracks getting dragged out of the street as a car speeds away. Holy fucking shit! My heart thuds loudly in my ears. I could have died.
"Jesus are you stupid or what? The crosswalk was red." Kate scolds. "I-I"
"I what? Didnt look where I was going like the idiot I am?" Alright now shes being unreasonably rude I almost got hit by a car and shes calling me an idiot.
"First if all don't call me an idiot. Second that car was going over the speed limit so its not my fault." I say crossing my arms.
"Yeah whatever." She mumbles rolling her eyes as she walks ahead of me. I walk behind her taking small glances every once in a while.
"I know I saved you and all but can you stop following me. Im getting weirded out right now." Of course she'll always turn this around like im a crazed fan. "You're so self absorbed. The library is this way." She doesnt respond back and keeps on walking.
My eyes peer down at her shoes. Those have to be at least 300 dollars. I never really found the joy in wasting a bunch of money on a pair of shoes.
She walks into a building and I look up to see that it says Library. Yet inside theres a small coffee shop as she sits down talking to the server. I get inside hoping to ignore her as I set down my bag getting my materials out.

Honestly I have no idea what I'm doing here but after that dumb fuck almost ran her over Im trying to make sure she's not clumsy again. Not that I care.
I feel like I made it sound like I care which I don't. I just wouldn't want anyone to be smushed against the pavement. I dont care.
"Here's your coffee." The old man says smiling in which I thank him. Damn this coffees good as hell I should come here more often.

I watch as she studies on a table seemingly focused on whatever class shes doing. She bites her fist huffing when she gets a answer wrong.
So damn cute.
What? Im just gonna ignore that thoight and blame it on intrusive thoughts. Theyre real okay? I mean shes attractive Ill admit that but cute? Come on.
Plus I'm still a little pissed that she brought Sadie up. I never talk about her for a reason.
She also said something new last night. That Sadie gave her a note. When I in fact never got one. Which either means shes lying or my sister didn't bother giving me one. Which id rather believe the first because Sadie and I were attached to each other at the hip.
I finally notice her talking to a blonde haired boy. Now when did he get there and how didn't I notice? I watch their interaction for a bit waiting for her response. He seems like a prick honestly. Self absorbed rich boy who treats women like shit.
Hypocrite.
Alright I may be a whore but at least I treat my women with respect.
Do you really?
Im starting to get really tired of that little voice. He takes out his phone and thats when I involuntarily get up stalking towards them. He looks up at me awkwardly as I just stare him down.
Go on. Run along.
"Uhh Hi." He squeaks out. "Kate what the hell? Go away." Vic murmurs. "Well Im just gonna go. It was nice meeting you. Maybe we can hang out next time." He gets up finally leaving earning a smile from me.
"Wait but!" Vic yells but he's already gone.
There'll be no next time.
"What are you doing? Leave." She grumbles. I take a seat next to her grabbing her notebook. "You know I precisely remember you mentioning you want nothing to do with me last night." She says grabbing the notebooks from my hands.
"I say a lot of things I don't mean." I shrug.
"But I actually wanted to know something. You said Sadie gave you a note. I want it." I say looking into her eyes as she swallows harshly.
"It wasn't a note. She said it herself." Hmm. Then that concludes it. What she said was a lie if theres no physical evidence because I know for a fact Sadie would tell me. Her sister. Before a friend.
"You dont believe me do you?" I thin my lips inspecting her expression for any hint but I see nothing. "I just dont believe the fact that she would tell you rather than telling me."
"Well maybe if you opened up I would open up to you as well. Theres a bunch of things you don't know." She says and I clench my fist.
There she goes again.

Victoria
"Why are you so keen on me opening up?" She says and I play with my fingers. I care about you. But instead I say "Your sister told me I would be responsible over you. I already told you."
"Well you haven't done it for years so why now?"
"Because I made a promise and I want to keep it."
"Well thats stupid. Im doing fine." She looks up at the ceiling relaxing into the chair. "Are you?"I question.
Theres a long pause and she doesn't answer. Just gets up and leaves.
"Ill figure out what your hiding. Willingly or not." She cant find out. Or she'll hate me forever. More than she already does.
I did something horrible and I regret it every second of my life.

The Stormcrow Cycle
Once a powerful and lauded witch, Ba'an salu-Ba'an now lives alone in a cave in the desert, waiting to die. When she rescues an outlander from certain death she becomes embroiled in a deadly game of politics and empire, of heart and soul, but worst of all--of hope and love and a chance at a peaceful future. Can a disgraced witch find a reason to live her life again--and if so, what price must she pay? The Stormcrow Cycle is a trilogy comprising of The Exile, The Lion, and Abomination. Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!
