《INVITE ME ROUND》Chapter 31

"We should stop, I'm tired." Gabriel leaned back and stretched. It was dead quiet in the library and there was no one but just the two of you.

"I'm not finished yet..." You continued to look into your book, hoping to find some important information that might be useful for tomorrow's exam.

"Gabriel, when were you going to tell me that the principal is your father?" You asked, not blaming him for never mentioning it before.

"You had no idea? Couldn't you have guessed that? Didn't you ever ask yourself why you weren't punished when you had that argument with Mr. Bennet?" You realized that Gabriel was right.

"Then your father is responsible for my undeserved happiness?" He nodded, grinning.

"Wow," your conversation dragged on and it got late.

"This boy I thought was handsome...

...I approached him."

"Are you talking about Luke?" You spluttered. That strange boy accompanied you to the party back then.

"Yes, exactly. The guy from the cafeteria.", Gabriel agreed.

"Well, he's not into boys, unfortunately." Gabriel said afterwards.

"Really? Did you ask him?" you raised an eyebrow.

"He was crushing on a girl the whole time. It hit me right away," he replied, packing a pen and his handwritten notes in his bag.

"Oh well that doesn't mean he couldn't be bisexual." You tried to encourage your friend.

"I'm actually pretty sure. Otherwise he wouldn't be talking to a stranger about a girl he loves."

"We'll see each other again today because your lecturer is sick, as you all know. Good morning.", the day started badly because you saw Lilith standing in front of the counter.

Some of the others were still busy taking one last look at their notes, but that changed when Lilith's hand hit the desk. You noticed a silver bracelet around her wrist.

"Sit down and be quiet. I'll hand out your work." With these words she took a stack of papers and walked across the room. Her high heels drove you insane and pulled you out of your thoughts.

You saw her coming towards you out of the corner of your eye so you looked away.

"Ms. Y/l/n don't you want to help me at all?", her voice jerked you out of your plan and you looked at her.

Suddenly you noticed some leaves on the floor next to your table.

"Can't you help yourself?"

She knelt down and picked up the sheets. She was wearing a new perfume. It smelled oilier.

As she got up she put her hand on your table to support herself.

"No, I really can't. Have you already forgotten that I'm old?"

So this was the game she was playing.

"Actually, I have," you took one sheet.

She distributed the rest to the remaining students and made her way to the counter.

After Lilith briefly explained something about the exam, the hour of horror began.

You were able to process the first questions quickly and easily. But after the time had almost passed, the half of your worksheet was still empty.

Every time Lilith walked past you, you had to cover your sheet with your hand so she wouldn't see that you didn't fill it out.

And at one point, time seemed to pass twice as fast.

"Why the hell aren't you writing anything? You don't have much time anymore." You heard a stern whisper behind you.

"In the third task you mark C, in the fourth you take 4 and in the sixth-"

You cleared your throat loudly to drown out her voice.

"What are you doing?" You whispered back angrily.

A nervousness built up inside you.

"I'm trying to help you so your grades won't get worse again.

I don't want you to go to those parties anymore because they rob the time you should use for studying ," she said.

"So, on the sixth-"

"Did y'all hear? Ms. Ritter said the time is up!", you said loudly and gave Lilith your paper before you left the room. It was time to leave because every single second with Lilith was exhausting.

"Mr. Eastwood didn't tell me he invited Sophie too." Harmony wondered.

"I'm sure she'll tell Scarlett," she continued.

"So they both know about this party now?" you rolled your eyes.

"I thought that was the only place I could get some rest from those two..."

"Harmony!" you looked up, noticing Joyce and Mr. Buckman standing in front of you.

"Mr. Eastwood is waiting for you in the other room, you should hurry." Harmony nodded seriously and left without saying goodbye.

"Hello Y/n," Joyce finally smiled.

"Hey..." you answered sheepishly.

"Which rooms are you talking about?" You tried to start a conversation.

"I don't know. I think it's the bathroom where everyone's smoking." Joyce shrugged and gave Mr. Buckman an elegant looking look.

"Will you drive me home?" Her voice sounded seductive.

"Yep, let's go." Before they left Mr. Buckman stroked your head.

"Don't stay too long kid," he said, totally reminding you of your father.

Maybe it would be good for a change to go somewhere with your parents to escape the stressful everyday life.

You refused a drink that Harmony tried to give you.

"Not today," you said.

"Where have you been?"

"Ah, I was just checking to see if he was alright. He's been drinking too much." She smiled.

"Again. How do you put up with him?" You gazed at the short pink top she was wearing. It matched the gold chain she wore around her neck.

"Did you changed your clothes?" It often surprised you that Harmony changed her clothes several times a day.

"So what? I look good.", she rolled her eyes.

"Yes, it actually looks very good on you." Your eyes caught Evelyn's.

You were hoping to see her.

"Oh I'll go then. She's here." You showed her to Harmony and walked towards the older woman with a proud smile.

Your hands grabbed hers and you pulled her close before kissing her lovingly. That was the first time the kiss came from you.

"What are you doing? Are you crazy? Be careful next time.", she tore herself away from you.

"I'm so sorry that won't happen again.", her eyes still wandered around the room. There were fewer people this time.

"You look really great." You admired her dark blue tight-fitting dress. Dark tones matched her skin tone.

She smiled.

"I thought you might want to go somewhere else. What about the restaurant? Have you had dinner yet?" she asked thoughtfully.

"Yes, yes I have. But if you don't like it here, we can-"

"Stop grabbing my hands in front of all these people, pumpkin. Please."

You shuddered when she called you that. You let go of her hand but instead you threw your arms around her waist and hugged her tightly.

"You're so kind..." you took a deep breath and let go immediately when you smelled this scent. You looked at her and didn't recognize Evelyn but Lilith. It was the same scent Lilith had worn.

"Fuck, what's wrong with you today?" she asked but couldn't resist laughing afterwards.

"Sorry I don't know what's going on." You narrowed your eyes and looked at her again.

Luckily it was Evelyn you spoke to.

"Let's go. I know a restaurant. I'm sure you'll like-"

"Ms. Carter." Cold sweat formed on the back of your neck. The clash of two powerful independent women could only have a bad ending.

"Yes?" Evelyn sounded annoyed and squeezed your hand so hard that you bit your lip. But your body and even your organs screamed because she took you by the hand.

"Where do you think you're going?"
