《INVITE ME ROUND》Chapter 29

"Evelyn, right?" you wish you would shut up.
"Where'd you get that from?" she let go of you and fumbled with her fitted dark green top.
"Wait, maybe I can-" your hand gripped her top, though you had no idea what you were going to do next.
"No!" Her voice sounded bitter as she shook your hand away.
"I mean no, it doesn't matter." She smiled. She was nervous.
"You still haven't told me how you know my name. Did someone tell you?" She changed the subject.
"Oh, I heard someone calling you.
I'm so sorry about the top, if there's anything I can do then-"
"Forget about it. It was about time to get rid of this old scrap of fabric anyway," she replied calmly.
"Well, okay," you turned back and looked for Lilith, but she was gone.
"Are you looking for someone?" You felt her hand on your waist and returned your attention to her, looking down at her fingers.
"Oh I'm sorry," she flinched.
Not knowing how to react, you asked, "Do you teach at college? I've never seen you before..." you spoke louder as the voices of a discussing group of youngsters drowned you out.
"Actually—" you felt someone bump into you and push you against Evelyn.
Your hands were on her chest and your noses almost touched.
"Not again," you mumbled smiling as she suddenly turned away from you.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" You turned around and saw Evelyn grab a boy by the shoulders.
She was so strong that she pressed him against the wall. Despite everything, you wanted to keep her away from any danger.
"Sorry Mommy," the boy grinned broadly and let her smack him across the face.
"If you dare to touch my son again you will put yourself in big danger," you heard her whisper in the boy's ear.
Then you noticed another boy storm out of the house, but you couldn't see his face.
The only thing you saw was the black leather jacket he was wearing.
You were snapped out of your thoughts when you heard Evelyn groan in pain.

"Evelyn!" you rushed towards her as the boys around her drew their attention to you.
Evelyn carefully touched her nose with her hand. You noticed blood on her finger.
"Let's take care of this," You pulled her from behind by the shoulders of the boy she was trying to kill with her malicious gaze.
She slowly walked away from him when she suddenly reached out her hand to push him again.
You felt a tremendous fear and pulled her back with all your strength.
"Let go off me!" she said painfully.
"Let go!" she repeated as you pulled her back into the corner where you were standing earlier.
"Wait here, I...excuse me Sir, do you know where the bathroom is?" You looked hopelessly at Mr. Black.
"Yeah, it's just around the corner over there." He pointed to the door.
"Thank you very m—", when you looked back in the corner, Evelyn had disappeared.
And a moment later you heard someone cry out in pain.
"Oh my God..." you saw the boy from before lying on the floor.
Evelyn stood in front of him and looked down. You couldn't help but stare. She had a really thin figure and she was taller than most of the women.
Mr. Black took care of the boy and you took Evelyn to the bathroom.
Since she didn't accept your help, you waited in front of the bathroom.
When you heard the door open you looked behind you.
Lucy and Lilith came out giggling and stopped in front of you in surprise. Lucy wobbled and could hardly hold herself which is why Lilith had her hand on Lucy's arm.
"Hi..." you said intimidated.
"Y/n..." her laughter died away.
You wish you could see her smile at you for once. Lucy's grin also made you feel bad.
"Are you having fun?" You knew that she was the only reason you showed up. At the same time you didn't wanted to see her anymore.
"Oh yeah we're-", Lilith stuttered.
"I'm sorry it took so long dear." You were glad to hear Evelyn's voice. She pushed Lucy and Lilith apart and came towards you.

"Mrs. Carter," Lucy mumbled.
Evelyn turned back and looked at the women.
"Evelyn," Lilith said calmly.
"Lilith," Evelyn said in surprise.
"Lucy," she looked over at Lucy.
Did these women want to spend the whole evening saying their names?
"What a nice coincidence. How are you?" It was Ms. Ritter's voice, thankfully interrupting the awkward situation.
"Are you still having troubles with your son?", she asked Evelyn before she glanced at you.
Was she talking about to boy who was running out of the house earlier?
"I'm good." Evelyn replied.
Apparently Evelyn wasn't interested in continuing the conversation. She turned to you and gave you a smile.
"Shall we go?" You nodded slowly and took one last look at Lilith.
"Have fun," you felt a hand on your back. You stayed for a short moment and realized that it was Lilith's.
You followed Evelyn outside where the fresh air already welcomed you with open arms and where the beat of the loud music wasn't pounding in your ears.
"How did you know Lilith?" you asked.
"Oh, Lilith...well, everyone knows this woman." Evelyn rummaged in her handbag. You wondered about her statement. Were there really that many who knew Lilith?
"Tell me, do you know what time it is?"
You looked at your phone.
"It's twelve already. Are you in a hurry?", you asked cautiously.
"Not really. But I'd better go now. It was nice to meet you." She smiled again. She smiled so beautifully.
"Yes, you too." You looked embarrassed.
She walked away with a smile on her face.
"Wait..." you sounded quiet but she turned around. As if she knew...
"How do you get home?" you asked. She gave you a puzzled look.
"Oh I was just wondering..."
"I came here by car," she replied.
"All right.", you let her go.
"Sorry about the blouse-" you called after her but she didn't turn around.
"What blouse?" Two arms wrapped around your waist and you felt soft lips on your neck.
Since you recognized Lilith's voice immediately, you closed your eyes with relief and enjoyed the tingling in your stomach.
"Nothing," you replied, startled when you saw the other teachers behind her.
"Are you leaving?" she asked softly.
As if that would really surprise her.
She knew exactly that you only came because of her.
"Actually, I was about to leave, yes," you said, giving the other teachers, especially Lucy, an annoyed look.
"Won't you stay with me?" You watched Lilith's fingers running up your arm.
"I thought you were busy." You looked back at Lucy, who was now staring at you with her arms crossed.
"What do you mean-"
"Don't act like that, you know I saw you...", you didn't dare to look into her eyes anymore.
"Mhh are you jealous?" You heard her smile devilishly which gave you goosebumps again.
"No, I'm not. You can keep messing around with women or whatever it is what you do." You said cheekily when she suddenly grabbed your chin, her fingers pressing into your cheeks. She kissed you briefly on the lips before she laughed in fascination and looked at the others who were laughing too.
Your eyes glazed over and you wondered why you always got so emotional in front of her.
"Am I a toy to you?" you sniffled indignantly.
"Sweetheart–" you dodged, escaping her grip.
"I have to go..." you turned away hoping she wouldn't follow you.
The voices behind you became more and more distant as you walked.
"What's wrong with you?" A hand pulled you back.
"What!?" came out of your mouth.
"What's wrong? Calm down you're acting like a child,"
"I'm just not as old as you, don't you get that?" You jerked yourself from her grip again, running into the deep darkness.
***
"Hey!", it couldn't be.
Did she follow you halfway?
Maybe she wanted to make sure you got to campus safely.
"Hey!", the repeated call made you nervous.
Lilith was scary sometimes when she gave you those dark looks.
Suddenly you noticed the headlights of a car. It was a patrol car.
"Are you deaf? Get in." You turned around seeing Evelyn in the driver's seat.
