《INVITE ME ROUND》Chapter 10

Your mother and your father spent a whole week with you and Gabriel in Barcelona, Spain.
Despite the fact that your semester break is still far away, your parents couldn't resist. And neither could you.
In addition, holidays with Gabriel have always been particularly entertaining and enjoyable.
Gabriel had his eye on a handsome Spaniard.
His tanned skin and his contagious smile made Gabriel crushing for many days.
The spontaneous trip helped you to get a little time out from your currently stressful everyday life.

"Detention," a hand clutches yours, pulling you out of the cafeteria and into the hallway. Confused and disoriented you try to follow so as not to lose your arm.
"Seriously? Didn't you say that I should stay away from you?" You laugh and smirk at the same time when you see Rina's mother standing in front of you.
You take a moment to study her. She's breathing fast,
her facial expression looks the same as always. The gaze is deadlier than Voldemort's, but far more beautiful. There is an endless emptiness in her eyes. This woman is so out of place at this school.
"You've been gone a whole week!" she says dramatically.
"Did you miss me or why are you exaggerating? How do you even know?" You raise your eyebrows seductively up and down, but she doesn't answer.
"Come on, I'm in a hurry." You roll your eyes and try to free your hand from her grip.
"Do you think you'll just get away with it?" she says more calmly.
This woman is the queen of mood swings.
"I had a good time in Barcelona.
Look at my skin.", excitedly you hold your other arm in front of her face to show her the light tan that has spread over your skin.

"We lay on the beach and we sunbathed every day. I even fell asleep once, I think it was Tuesday. Nobody woke me up and when I woke up I saw a child in the water.
It was screaming and I thought it was just laughing, but actually it was drowning and-"
"Y/n,"
"Huh?" You blinked several times, realizing you talked too much again.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm actually still mad at you, Lilybeth. But I just wanted to show you how awesome it is to have vacation every now and then. I realized that I missed it.
What about you? Where do you like to go on vacation? Most likely not in the sun because you seem like...
I'm convinced that you-", you cover your mouth to avoid saying anything else that might hurt her.
At the sight of her fair skin you still wondered if this woman was ever on vacation. Well, probably in Siberia or Antarctica.
You screwed it up and it couldn't get any worse anyway so why didn't you just kiss her?
A strange scene flashed through your head and your mouth fell open as you realized what you were thinking.
"You just have such fair skin..." you mumbled desperately, looking up at her angry face.
"Which, by the way, isn't a bad thing, I think fair skin is very beautiful." You said so fast you had to gasp.
A faint smirk fled from her lips, and the corners of your mouth formed a surprised, relieved smile before that faded again.
"I'm still mad at you, just so you know. I walked home alone all night." You looked up into her eyes, searching for pity.
But after she gave you a are-you-serious look, you looked down at the floor in embarrassment.

"Well, I might was able to make it home in half an hour. But it was very cold on the way home. And I didn't get a coat from you so-" you trailed off when you realized she was still holding your hand.
By now you were so nervous that your hand was sweating and you couldn't stop.
"Erm..."
She followed your gaze but looked up just as quickly as she looked down when she heard someone call out.
"Lilith, there you are!", a tall man came towards you approaching you with big strides.
"Right, Lilith," you whispered, remembering her name again.
His face seemed frivolous and his head small, which didn't match the rest of his body at all.
Before you could break free from Lilith's grip, which by the way wasn't possible as she was still holding you, the man gave her a big hug, while your arm was swept along and you looked like you would doing the Ardha Chandrasana pose. Yoga is not as easy as it looks.
"You two know each other?"
He smiles.
"Yes," you heard Lilith's voice as you said no.
"So yes and no?" He looked skeptical without losing his smile.
"An old friend of my parents," you said quickly, receiving an odd look from Lilith.
"I don't think we both know each other at all. I'm Mr. Black, I teach PE.", he offers you his hand and you give him a fist bump to avoid him coming into contact with your sweaty hands, which Lilith almost crushed.
"Y/n, I'm very pleased," you tried to smile. He looked at you for a while, which was so uncomfortable that you lowered your gaze to his dark blue sneakers.
"Unfortunately we have to go,"
"Yes," you heard Lilith's voice and looked up again.
"Forget the detention," she said before leaving with him.
"Hey! Wait...can we catch up?"
She turned her head back, which you didn't expect. She rolled her eyes in amusement before turning back to the front.
That was a no.

The Kiss of Two Moons
The last year is upon us. The world is ending, but you already knew that; everyone does. Spring has come, and the flowers have bloomed here in this small town with no name. Thousands of different colours now paint the field that had been coloured by frost alone just yesterday. The townsfolk have gathered by the field to celebrate the beginning of the last spring with so many smiling faces. Tears too. I can’t help but wonder whether the flowers will bloom again before the sky falls upon us. Others must be thinking the same. There are moments when the smiles fade and their eyes glaze over as they realize just how near to the end we are. They forget it again in moments. They make themselves forget. The children aren’t like that, though. They don’t seem to understand, or they’ve come to accept it in a way that their parents just can’t manage to. This one boy actually asked me why I was sad. I had to wonder whether he was actually aware that the world is ending, but it seemed wrong to mention it. I ended up just telling him that I was waiting for someone, and he scampered off, wearing a silly smile. I can’t help but feel jealous of him. The beginning of next spring; the day that the world ends. It seems so far away, yet so close. Wherever you are now, I have to ask, how are you spending your last spring? Did you get to see the flowers bloom? Did you smile? Did you cry?

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
