《INVITE ME ROUND》Chapter 2

A week had passed and life with Harmony hadn't changed.
She stayed quietly on her side of the room, constantly chatting with someone on the phone, laughing out loud in the middle of the night, and then sleeping all day long.
This girl was definitely one of those reserved, shy girls who make friends on the internet instead of talking to people in person, because they're mentally done.
Your gaze wandered to Harmony, and back to your book.
It was boring because you lost Scarlett as your roommate.
Even though it made you a little sad that she didn't give a damn that you wanted to move out, you somehow got over it.
"What are you reading?"
"Oh, are you talking to me?" you smiled.
She blinked several times.
"No, I'm talking to your desk," she said seriously.
"Erm...sorry," you smiled sheepishly, brushing your hair out of your face.
"What are you reading?" she asked again, a little more relaxed.
"It's just a stupid textbook, I have to study for my next exam." You replied, thinking the conversation would end there.
But Harmony put down her smartphone and stood in front of the bed you were sitting on.
"Boring," she threw herself on your bed, laying down next to you.
A little too surprised by this sudden movement, you drew your feet back.
You were silent, waiting for her to explain herself or just say something.
But she said nothing.
"Who are you texting with all the time?"
"Huh?" you noticed her eyes opening.
"With friends," she said, bored.
"You know, I'm glad you helped me get rid of Sophie. Let's face it, she's a little freaky, isn't she?"
"Just a little?" you joked.
"She thinks she's special," you were amazed to hear that from Harmony. If she was willing to gossip about other people with you now, you would get out immediately.
"And you? What makes you thinking you're special?" You asked.
She straightened up at you with an did-you-really-just-say-that look.
"Excuse me? Isn't that obvious? I'm not some conceited, sex-addicted gossip." Harmony spluttered.
You covered your mouth with one hand, at the same time being shocked but amused by her language.
"Agree with me?"
"No, not at all. I like Sophie. She's...nice," you answered honestly.
"Oh I see. You're one of them.
You're boring Y/n." She turned around.
You laughed, too, leafing through a few pages in your book.
"I thought I could show you what's really fun in life, Y/n." you heard her say, looking away in irritation.

"What do you mean?" You swallowed.
She immediately turned back, looking at your textbook disparagingly, and putting it aside.
"You know what I used to think every time I saw you with the other girls?" she asked, playing with a strand of her hair.
You watched Harmony closely.
Her body language didn't give much away, but this girl was a real beauty.
"No," you said quietly.
"You're not like the others." She shook her head, taking your hand in hers.
You got a strange feeling in your stomach and you hoped that it wouldn't be what you thought it would be.
"You don't need those stupid parties. You just don't need that stuff that teenagers do." She played with her fingers.
"Yeah, that's right. I prefer reading.
I like to deal with my own thoughts and feelings. I don't feel comfortable around many people. It makes me a little nervous." You smiled sheepishly, trying to withdraw your hand.
You smiled even more when you realized you couldn't withdraw your hand.
"You need a lot more," she grinned, licking her lips. You didn't realize that you had momentarily held your breath.
"Oh really?" You couldn't take this situation seriously, confused by what was happening.
"I didn't realize you knew me better than I do," you joked again.
"Shhh," she came closer, putting her finger on your lips. You've never seen Harmony like this before. You were hoping that the door would open and Sophie or Scarlett or someone would burst into this room.
"Erm...Harmony..."
"I want you to listen to me. I'm trying to tell you that I-"
"I'm not ready for a relationship!" you quickly interrupted her, closing your eyes, hoping it hadn't hurt Harmony's feelings.
"What the hell?" you heard, opening one eye hesitantly.
She sat back, burst out laughing, and even doubled over laughing.
When she laughed, she sounded kinda like a tractor.
"So you're not in love with me?" She burst out laughing again at your words.
"Of course not," she laughed, grunting now and then.
You exhaled calmly, which brought a troubled look to Harmony's face.
"I just thought you were nice.
I thought maybe we could become something like friends, after all we are roommates. And since you look so bored , I thought you would like to do hang around with me.", she shrugged her shoulders.
You stared at the floor with puffed out cheeks, ashamed of everything you thought and said.
"Anyway, forget what I said." She gave you a pitiful look before crawling back to her side of the room.

Who was this Harmony seemingly posing as someone other than who she really was.
She managed to arouse your curiosity.
You had a feeling that there was more to this girl than just your silent roommate.
You twitched your feet trying to find the right words. To start a conversation again without saying anything wrong.
You were reassured that she didn't want a relationship with you. After all, you were of the opinion that you don't need anyone in your life to be happy.
"What do you want to do?" you asked cautiously, looking shyly at your roommate.
"You're so weird," she said, confused.
"Do you use drugs?"
"What?" you asked, stunned.
"I'm only asking for my own safety. You're always so hyperactive, and the next moment you're...so weird," she said, almost disgusted.
"You're crazy," you claimed, offended.
"I can live with that," she replied nonchalantly. Impressed, you tried to find a good counter, but couldn't think of anything.
"Are you a lesbian?"
You looked at her to make sure she really asked that.
"Of course you are. Why am I even asking," she answered her own question.
"Do you know how much people annoy me who think they know everything about everyone and everything? And then they claim things about some people that they don't even know personally and don't know anything about! I don't know what other disturbing ideas you have in your mind, but I don't feel like talking to you anymore!" you got up angrily, storming towards the door.
"Sophie kissed my boyfriend."
You stopped in front of the door, raising your eyebrows.
You turned, gaping at her. Harmony, who was just looking at you like she was ready to tell you all her secrets, was just smiling at you.
"Why are you telling me this?"
"I don't know. I have such a strong feeling that I can tell you everything. I told you, I know you are different. You are yourself and you try not to be like everyone else." Harmony said honestly.
"Fine. I'm sorry. I didn't know Sophie kissed your boyfriend. How could I? Besides, she must have done it for a good reason." You winked.
"Sometimes you can be really mean," she said, crossing her arms.
"I was just trying to confide in you. I had a feeling we could be something like friends." Harmony leaned his head back.
"To be friends you have to get to know each other first, right?" You sat down on your bed.
"Then get to know me." She turned to you.
"I'll regret that." You joked again, earning an annoyed look from her. She really was different.
For her young age, Harmony still acted more mature than any of the other girls you knew.
"How long ago was that with Sophie and your boy friend?" you asked curiously.
"It's been a long time. I got over it. Honestly, she was an eye opener. How could I be so stupid and fancy such a dumb boy? I know Sophie is an idiot. You've just never seen her like I have because you're friends with Scarlett." She took a deep breath.
"Of course I cleared that up with her, I don't want any problems. But I won't forgive her," she said darkly.
"What about you? Do you have a boy friend?"

"See you in the library later?" you shouted as Logan walked away from the cafeteria.
"Sure," he called out, laughing. You smiled back, waving goodbye to him.
When your gaze met Harmony's, you rushed towards her.
"How was the exam?" she asked, pursing her lips.
You made a sad look.
Her gaze twisted into a pitiful expression.
"Passed," you grinned happily, clapping your hands.
"I knew it!" she said loudly, so that some students turned to face you.
"Look at this," you hold your exam in front of her.
"You are so intelligent!" she said enthusiastically.
"I brought you something too," you said, grinning, taking a can out of your pocket.
"Red velvet cake...", she took the cake in her hand and put it in her mouth.
"Slow down!" you laughed at her hungry behavior.
"I can't take it anymore! I'm about to burst! I just have to talk to you," she said, and when you looked into her eyes, you noticed that her eyes were watering.
Your hands rested on her shoulders and you gave her your full attention.
"What happened?"
She took a pack of cigarettes out of her jacket pocket.
You snatched the box from her, hiding it under your sweater.
"Since when the hell do you smoke?"
She puts the can on the table, looking for something in her jacket pocket.
"I know it was in that pocket somewhere. But...where?" she murmured, rummaging through her entire pocket.
Suddenly, the cafeteria door was thrown open so hard that you took a step back in shock.
